New Mexico Department of Agriculture

NMDA is a producer-consumer service and regulatory department responsible for various statutes legislated since its inception. NMDA’s mandate has changed over the years in response to changes in population, the needs of agribusiness, and technological advancements. NMDA remains committed to serving its constituents by periodically reviewing statutes and fee structures, as well as offering compliance assistance and education in an effort to maintain a safe and secure food supply, promote a fair marketplace, and secure our natural resources.

Noxious Weed Management Grant

Purpose

The New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) will award competitive grants to eligible applicants for projects that improve the state’s economy and environment by managing noxious weeds in New Mexico. The grants are funded through New Mexico’s Land of Enchantment Legacy Fund to achieve the purposes of the New Mexico Noxious Weed Management Act. 

Grant funds will be awarded for the following activities, but must include activities in at least one of the first three bullets bolded below to be considered for funding:

• Surveying & Mapping
• Early Detection and Rapid Response (EDRR)
• Integrated Weed Management (On-the-Ground-Treatments)
• Education/Outreach
• Planning, Capacity Development, & Partnership Building

The Patterson Foundation offers Oral Health Grants to support programs that enhance access to dental care for underserved communities. Eligible 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations can apply for funding up to $35,000 for capacity expansion, $10,000 for personnel support, or $10,000 for program support. The foundation prioritizes projects led by volunteer dental professionals and requires follow-up reports for continued funding. Applications are accepted year-round through a two-step process.

The Fred & Jean Allegretti Foundation Grant offers financial assistance to charitable organizations focused on improving the quality of life for children, adults, the elderly, and animals. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) entities that comply with reporting laws and operate in Colorado, Florida, or New Mexico. The foundation seeks proposals that reflect its humanitarian mission, prioritizing dignity and support through education, medical treatment, and the arts.

The Vulcan Materials Company Foundation Grant focuses on enhancing community quality of life through education, environmental stewardship, and employee involvement. Established in 1988, the Foundation supports public charities and government units, prioritizing proposals that improve public education and promote sustainable practices. Special consideration is given to initiatives that engage Vulcan employees and integrate multiple focus areas, ensuring a positive impact in the local communities where Vulcan operates.

The Josh Scholarship ENMU-R, offered by The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, provides financial assistance to residents of Chaves, Lincoln, Otero, or Roosevelt counties pursuing vocational or community college education. Targeting students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, this scholarship supports individuals of all ages and backgrounds, encouraging them to enhance their educational and professional journeys. This initiative aims to empower students in their pursuit of higher education and career development.

The Holloway Irwin Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, supports students graduating from Chaves County School Districts. Eligible applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher and demonstrate community commitment through volunteerism. This scholarship aims to empower students from diverse backgrounds, including those from BiPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, as they pursue their educational and professional goals at four-year universities.

The Hispanic Scholarship Endowment Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, aims to empower minority students from southern New Mexico by providing scholarships for higher education. This initiative supports students attending New Mexico State University or Dona Ana Community College, promoting inclusivity across various backgrounds, including BIPOC and those with disabilities. The fund emphasizes educational access, catering to diverse paths from vocational training to advanced degrees, fostering a community equipped to thrive.

Delta Dental of New Mexico's 'Smiles Across New Mexico' program supports dental education initiatives aimed at improving oral health among underserved children and at-risk populations. Grants of $2,500 to $5,000 are awarded to programs that enhance awareness and access to quality dental care. The program prioritizes impactful projects with strong community support and requires past recipients to demonstrate the effective use of funds in future applications.

The Hazel Hutchcroft Memorial Endowment Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, aims to support students pursuing higher education in nursing at DACC, Las Cruces. This scholarship is designed for diverse applicants, including those from underrepresented backgrounds and those with disabilities. The foundation manages numerous endowments and scholarships, reflecting its commitment to enhancing the educational landscape in Southern New Mexico and fostering community growth through accessible education.

RBC Foundation – USA aims to enhance community quality of life by supporting non-profit organizations that promote diversity and positive change. In 2023, it awarded over $2.8 million in grants, prioritizing youth programs for ages 15-29, arts access for diverse populations, and mental well-being initiatives. The foundation encourages sustainable projects that foster economic independence, providing critical support for education, mental health, and cultural enrichment, thereby making a significant impact across various communities.

The Colorado Plateau Foundation offers the CPF Rapid Response Grant to support Native-led organizations addressing urgent needs in the Colorado Plateau region. Grants of up to $10,000 are available at any time, separate from the annual grant cycle. The foundation focuses on four priority areas: water protection, sacred place preservation, language preservation, and sustainable agriculture. Since 2012, it has invested over $1.2 million in more than 60 initiatives to empower Native communities.

The You Fund Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, supports students from single-parent households pursuing careers in medicine or law at New Mexico State University or Doña Ana Community College. This initiative aims to empower individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities and LGBTQIA+ students. The foundation is dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities and fostering community growth, ensuring that all students have access to the resources they need to thrive.

The Village at Northrise Endowment Fund Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, aims to support students in their educational pursuits, including undergraduate and vocational programs. This scholarship is open to diverse student groups, including those from BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, as well as individuals with disabilities. By fostering educational opportunities, the fund contributes to the growth and development of individuals and the community in Southern New Mexico.

The Vescovo Automotive Technology Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, aims to support students in their second year of the Automotive Technology Program at Doña Ana Community College. Applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be actively enrolled. This scholarship reflects the foundation's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and fostering community development in Southern New Mexico.

The Sunspot Solar-Mellow & Janet Honek Endowment Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, supports Native American youth pursuing higher education at NMSU. This scholarship aims to empower students from diverse backgrounds, including BIPOC and those with disabilities, to achieve their educational goals. Applicants must be pursuing any avenue of higher education and/or professional certifications. This includes undergraduate, post-grad, vocational and more! Applicants must be actively enrolled as a student. Applicants in high school must be a graduating senior.

Nursing scholarships for students at NMSU

The James M. Cox Foundation Grant offers support to nonprofit organizations focused on conservation, early childhood education, family empowerment, and health. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt and located in areas where Cox Enterprises operates. Grant applications are accepted year-round, with deadlines before Trustee meetings. Preference is given to organizations with a history of local engagement. This foundation embodies the philanthropic spirit of its founder, James M. Cox, by giving back to the community.

The Wenner-Gren Fellowship, offered by the School for Advanced Research, supports scholars in anthropology and related fields, particularly those focusing on Black studies and under-represented perspectives. This nine-month residential fellowship provides a $50,000 stipend, low-cost housing, and office space, fostering a collaborative research environment. Open to PhD-holding anthropologists, the program encourages innovative proposals that contribute to the humanities and social sciences, enhancing the understanding of human culture and history.

The Paloheimo Foundation Fellowship offers a nine-month residency at the School for Advanced Research for scholars in the humanities and social sciences. This fellowship supports the preparation of manuscripts or dissertations, providing $35,000 in stipend, low-cost housing, and office space. Open to PhD candidates, the program emphasizes research that enriches the understanding of human culture and history. Applications are accepted from September to November, fostering a collaborative academic environment.

The Washington Federal Foundation offers Community Service Micro Grants aimed at supporting nonprofits that assist low- and moderate-income communities. Eligible organizations must have been operational for at least 12 months and be located near a WaFd Bank branch. The grants focus on essential services like housing assistance, financial literacy, and basic needs support, while excluding medical, animal welfare, and arts-related funding unless tied to employment for low-income populations.

The Early Opportunities Initiative Grant by the Brindle Foundation aims to enhance early childhood services in New Mexico, focusing on prenatal to age three. With an emphasis on vulnerable populations, this initiative supports innovative programs and advocacy efforts to strengthen early childhood systems and direct services. By addressing critical needs and fostering collaboration, the grant seeks to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

The NM Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) by the USDA NRCS is a year-round application program aimed at supporting agricultural producers in enhancing conservation efforts. With deadlines for FY 2024 sign-ups and renewals, CSP emphasizes comprehensive resource management, allowing producers to improve crop yields, reduce costs, and meet conservation thresholds. Eligible participants, regardless of operation size, must adhere to USDA requirements. For more details on responsibilities, applicants can refer to the CSP contract appendix.

Community Forestry Assistance Grant Application

Program Overview

The State of New Mexico, Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD), Forestry Division (Forestry Division) in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service (Forest Service) is seeking applications (Applications) (Attachment 1) for urban and community forestry projects year-round.

The Forestry Division may award multiple contracts from this Request for Applications (RFA).

Match is not required but it is encouraged to demonstrate project commitment. Any matching funds provided must be non-federal and may include allowable and allocable in-kind contributions (i.e., personnel salary, fringe benefits, and indirect costs; services, materials, supplies, and equipment donations; and volunteer assistance), and private and public (non-federal) monetary contributions.

The purpose of the Community Forestry Assistance Grant is to assist communities in developing and maintaining sustainable stewardship of urban and community forestry resources in New Mexico. Projects that support expanding equitable tree canopy cover and access to nature deprived disadvantaged communities experiencing low tree canopy and environmental justice issues will receive higher priority.

The focus of the grants are on projects that occur within or deliver 100 percent of the projects benefits to communities identified as disadvantaged by the federal government. Applicants must use federal online vulnerability and environmental justice equity data tools to support a disadvantaged community designation (e.g., White House Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST), the EPA Environmental Justice and Screening Mapping Tool, and EPA EnviroAtlas Interactive Map). Projects that occur outside of areas identified as disadvantaged may still be funded but it may be at a lower amount.

The Chamiza Foundation Grant supports the preservation and revitalization of Pueblo culture through targeted grantmaking. For over 33 years, the foundation has enabled positive change in Pueblo communities by prioritizing language preservation, sustainable agriculture, traditional arts, and youth leadership. With an emphasis on collaboration and community involvement, the foundation awards grants averaging between $3,000 and $15,000 to projects that foster cultural continuity and innovation.

Every Kindness is a Gift

Dollar Tree Gift Card Program 2026

Every Kindness is a Gift is a gift card grant program made possible through the generosity of Dollar Tree and managed by the team here at Gift Card Bank. We are a nonprofit organization that specializes in the distribution of gift cards and our mission is to improve well-being and build financial stability by supporting people through their time of need.

Through Every Kindness is a Gift, nonprofit organizations and Title I schools located in the 48 contiguous states may apply to receive a grant of Dollar Tree gift cards.

Gift cards received through these grants are meant to be distributed directly to individuals and families in need. A primary goal of the program is to give gift card recipients the dignity of choice by empowering them to shop for what they need themselves. By putting gift cards directly in the hands of our neighbors in need, we are able to increase access to essentials like food, school supplies, paper products, cleaning products, and hygiene items.

In 2026, there will be two rounds of grant distributions. In each round, we will award a number of grants between $2,500 and $10,000.

Round One is a summer distribution. Gift cards awarded in Round One will arrive in late June, while kids are on break and back-to-school is around the corner. Round Two is a holiday distribution. Gift cards awarded in Round Two will arrive in early November, as the end-of-year holidays approach.

We know that these are times of year when budgets are tight. Through these gift card grants, we hope to connect individuals and families directly to the essential resources they need during difficult months.

The NM Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) aims to protect agricultural viability by limiting non-agricultural uses on eligible lands. This program benefits private and tribal landowners by preserving croplands, grasslands, and wetlands, ensuring long-term agricultural productivity. The program provides financial assistance for Agricultural Land Easements (ALE) and Wetland Reserve Easements (WRE), contributing significantly to environmental quality, wildlife habitat, and public benefits. Eligible participants include various landowners and governmental entities committed to conservation.
