James Francis Harris Memorial Award

Purpose of Scholarship

For a graduating senior residing in the City of Rochester who has shown promise in the study of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $1,000. May be split between two applicants. Minimum award size $500. Award paid in one lump sum in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Donor Information

This scholarship was established by the estate of Lena Harris in memory of her son James Francis Harris, a member of the Class of 1951 of John Marshall High School.

Do It 4 Ur Kidz Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to head-of-household, single parents for post-secondary education to help them improve their lives and those of their children.

Number and Size of Awards

Number of recipients and amounts vary; paid in one lump sum in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Donor Information

A former St. John Fisher College professor who understood and greatly admired the hard work and challenges of single-parent students created this scholarship to support their higher education endeavors and to improve their employability, their lives, and the lives of their children.

Stella Knoebel / Saddlerock Evangelical Presbyterian Church Music Scholarship

Stella Knoebel was a significant part of the music department at First Presbyterian Church of Wenatchee (now called Saddlerock Evangelical Presbyterian Church). To honor her legacy, the church established an endowment fund to provide scholarships to students who are members of the congregation and preference will be given to those who plan to continue their education in the field of music.

The Level 1 Housing Opportunity Grants, provided by the National Association of Realtors, aim to enhance education on housing affordability for REALTORS® and the community. Grants of up to $3,000 support various initiatives, including forums, speakers, and stakeholder meetings. This scholarship was created by the estate of Elizabeth Schmidt to provide scholarships for nursing students and graduate nursing students studying to become nurse practitioners from Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, and Yates Counties to attend colleges and universities in the same four county area.

Onisko, Jr. Environmental Sciences Scholarship, established in 2020 by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, supports high school seniors from southern Beaufort County pursuing a degree in Environmental Sciences. This scholarship honors Joseph S. Onisko, Jr. and aims to assist students with outstanding achievements, a minimum GPA of 3.2, and a focus on marine sciences. The foundation has invested over $125 million to enhance the Lowcountry community.
