Estelle Jones Non-Traditional Students Scholarship ($2,000)

This renewable scholarship is designed to support students who are residents of Richland County School District One. 

The Stinn & Oebser Scholarship, offered by the St. Croix Valley Foundation, supports students from Pierce Counties (Wisconsin) and the Harlan Community School District (Iowa) pursuing trade schools, colleges, or universities. Eligible applicants are high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Selection is based on financial need, work experience, and extracurricular involvement. This scholarship aims to empower local students to achieve their educational goals and contribute positively to their communities.

The Pittsburgh Foundation

Established in 1945, The Pittsburgh Foundation is one of the nation’s oldest community foundations and as of 2022 is the 18th largest of more than 750 similar foundations across the United States.

Scholarships

The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County provide scholarship opportunities for local students to pursue their educational goals. Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors, undergraduates, graduate, medical and professional school students who are attending community colleges, four-year universities and career/technical schools.

Elaine Sirkin Forbes Scholarship Fund

The Elaine Sirkin Forbes Scholarship Fund was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide scholarships for high school seniors graduating from Allegheny County Schools who wish to major in visual, performance or media art.

Scholarship eligibility requires students to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year public or private institution of higher learning. All scholarships are for full-time students, unless otherwise noted. Renewable awards are for 4 years of undergraduate study and cannot be used for post graduate coursework; all awards are paid directly to the school or may be used for book reimbursement.

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) aims to support innovative research for validating therapeutic targets in Alzheimer's Disease-Related Dementias (ADRD). This initiative focuses on overcoming barriers in treatment development by ensuring well-validated targets linked to disease mechanisms. Franklin Hines Scholarship ($3,600)

This renewable scholarship is available to students who are graduating seniors from one of the following high schools: Hartsville High School, Darlington High School, Lamar High School, or McBee High School. 

The Max L. and Marilyn Harshman Scholarship, offered by the Ashland County Community Foundation, supports high school graduates who are in their senior year of college majoring in Social Work. Eligible applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. This scholarship aims to assist students in pursuing their educational goals while contributing to the community through their chosen field.

This renewable scholarship was established to provide educational opportunities for people living, or those who have lived within the past two years, in a Richland County transitional housing program or within Columbia Housing Authority transitional housing in Columbia, SC.

This non-renewable scholarship is for high school seniors graduating from a high school in Fairfield County, South Carolina. 

The George W. Mallinckrodt Fellowship at Harvard Kennedy School supports MC/MPA students who demonstrate courage, vision, and a strong commitment to ethics and good governance. This fellowship is aimed at individuals who aspire to improve public policy and leadership, contributing to a just and sustainable society. It is based on merit and financial need, without discrimination based on citizenship or other protected classifications. Applications are accepted after admission applications are submitted.

Juanita Muller Scholarship

Juanita Muller was widowed in 1949. She reared two sons, Joe, then 14 and Charles, 10, working six days a week in a dress factory. Charles, the provider of this scholarship, was the first in his family to receive a college education, thanks to the Woodward Trustees Foundation in Cincinnati. It provided financial aid in high school and a scholarship to the University of Cincinnati. May the recipients of the scholarship fully appreciate the effort of their single parent and have an impact on the lives of those they touch.

The Mary Agnes Powers Scholarship Fund, established by the Pittsburgh Foundation, supports nursing students from several Pennsylvania counties. This scholarship honors Mary Agnes Powers and is awarded based on academic merit, financial need, and enrollment in nursing programs. Eligible candidates must reside in designated counties, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be entering their final year of nursing education. The scholarship aims to empower local students in their pursuit of nursing careers.

The Promising Futures Grants focus on enhancing job training and placement for young people in New York City. By building partnerships among nonprofits, businesses, and educational institutions, the program aims to create a robust workforce development system. It encourages innovative training solutions for those facing employment barriers, while also advocating for better jobs and fair wages. This initiative ultimately seeks to empower job seekers and improve overall economic opportunities in the community.

The Paul J. Baum Fund Scholarship, established by The Pittsburgh Foundation, supports college and graduate students pursuing degrees in Music. As one of the oldest community foundations in the U.S., The Pittsburgh Foundation has been dedicated to improving quality of life since 1945. This scholarship opportunity is available to both undergraduate and graduate students who meet eligibility criteria, including a minimum GPA of 2.5 and participation in music programs.

The William Brewster Snow Award, presented by the AEESP Foundation, honors outstanding environmental engineering graduate students. The Hudson Physicians Scholarship, offered by the St. Croix Valley Foundation, supports graduating seniors from high schools in St. Croix or Pierce Counties who are pursuing a career in healthcare. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and financial need will be considered. This scholarship reflects the Foundation's commitment to fostering local talent and enhancing community well-being by investing in future healthcare professionals.

The Shoshana Foundation Grant, established in 1986, aims to support young American opera singers by providing essential funding and career development opportunities. Nominated by music schools and opera companies, recipients can receive supplemental grants based on merit and need. This initiative honors Richard F. Gold's vision to nurture talent in opera, ensuring the art form's future. Participating institutions include The Juilliard School and Houston Grand Opera, fostering the growth of emerging artists in the competitive landscape of opera.

The Petrone Scholarship, offered by the Ashland County Community Foundation, supports non-traditional students pursuing nursing degrees. It aims to assist those advancing from a Nurse's Aide to an LPN or RN, or from LPN to RN, especially those with experience in Hospice Care. This scholarship provides essential financial aid to help eligible students achieve their educational goals in the nursing field, fostering a commitment to quality patient care.

The Stickley Scholarship Fund offers the Pat Danial Scholarship Award for students demonstrating financial need and a passion for the fine arts. Open to children of full-time employees at L. & J. G. Stickley with over two years of service, this scholarship aims to support high school graduates and college students pursuing higher education. By providing four scholarships annually, the fund contributes to educational equity and empowers students to access transformative opportunities.

The National Institute on Aging (NIA) is preparing to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) aimed at advancing research on the genomic factors influencing Alzheimer's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease-Related Dementias (AD/ADRD). This initiative encourages interdisciplinary projects that utilize innovative genomic analysis techniques to uncover the mechanisms of neurodegeneration. The goal is to identify therapeutic targets that can inform precision medicine strategies for AD/ADRD treatment, while allowing time for potential applicants to form collaborations.
