Tad Fujioka Memorial Scholarship

A fund created in memory of Tad Fujioka to support graduates of Sitka High School, Pacific High School, Mount Edgecumbe High, or Sitka School District REACH homeschool. The scholarship will support college or vocational training in career choices that will help support the wellbeing and resilience of members of small Alaska communities.

Tad had great-grandparents who settled in Ketchikan in the early 1900's where his father learned to love fishing in Alaska. When Tad was one year old, he and his parents moved to Juneau, where Tad also learned to love fishing. After college, he moved to Sitka, where fishing was even better. After a stint of working in engineering, marrying, and starting a family, he got a salmon troll permit. He soon became involved not only in fishing but also in fishery policy and regulation, where his analytical ability helped to evaluate management proposals. His patience and diplomacy allowed him to effectively articulate ideas and solutions to problems he saw in existing conditions and propose measures, both in the management of the fishery and also in the processing sector, where he served as board chairman of the Seafood Producers Cooperative. He became a respected and effective advocate for the sustainability of the small boat fishing fleet, which supports the economy of many small towns and communities in Alaska. Commitment to serving his community included 20 years serving on the Sitka Advisory Committee to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, teaching friends and students to harvest wild foods, and sharing his harvest throughout the community and the state.

To honor his legacy, his family has chosen to honor Tad by starting the Tad Fujioka Memorial Scholarship Fund.

About Glenn C. Marlow Scholarship

This scholarship is to be awarded to a graduating senior of the Henderson County Public Schools who intends to enter a teacher education program. Preference will be given to a West Henderson High School graduate and a student who attended the Glenn C. Marlow Elementary School.This is a renewable scholarship.

The Gigi and Louise Gartner Scholarship provides scholarships of up to $10,000 for high school seniors and college students from Dallas County, TX. Applicants must pursue degrees in holistic medicine or related fields, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be U.S. citizens or legal residents. This initiative, supported by the Communities Foundation of Texas, aims to empower students in their educational journeys and promote careers in integrative health and wellness.

About Grace B. Etheredge Scholarship

The scholarship recipient should be a student who plans to attend and has been accepted to attend a four-year college. The student should demonstrate scholastic ability (to include a student gifted in the arts), financial need, character, leadership ability, participation in extracurricular activities and demonstrated ability to complete a college education (in order for the scholarship to be renewed, the student must maintain a GPA of 3.0). Other things being equal, preference should be given to scholastic ability.

This is a renewable scholarship.

The General James H. Doolittle Scholarship, administered by the Communities Foundation of Texas, offers scholarships up to $5,000 for college juniors, seniors, or graduate students majoring in aerospace science, aeronautical engineering, or related fields. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 and have completed at least 52 college credit hours. Pediatric Fellow Research Projects RFA

The Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine is pleased to announce the availability of grants to support research projects conducted by pediatric clinical fellows in accredited fellowship programs within the sections of the Department of Pediatrics.

Fellow research projects can request funding up to $10,000. Research projects must be feasibly completed within the fellowship period. It is anticipated that five to seven awards will be made.

The Jack B. Fisher Scholarship Fund was established to assist graduates of Stark County high schools. Students must have above average accomplishment in high school and demonstrate financial need.

The Kahiau Scholarship Fund, established in 2007, aims to support students in Hawaii by providing scholarships based on financial need and academic performance. Eligible candidates must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and demonstrate community involvement related to the spirit of kahiau, meaning generous giving without expectation. The Sue & Ken Dyer Foundation Travel Scholarship, managed by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, offers financial support of up to $2,500 for students from select schools in South Central Pennsylvania. This scholarship aims to assist juniors and seniors with travel costs for educational or service-related trips. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and submit a report detailing their travel experiences. The fund supports the foundation's mission to enhance community development and educational opportunities.

The NIOSH Exploratory/Developmental Grant Program (R21) aims to enhance understanding of occupational diseases and injuries. It focuses on identifying risks, developing prevention strategies, and translating scientific discoveries into effective measures. Applicants are encouraged to describe the health burdens addressed, outline research activities, and demonstrate potential impacts on occupational safety. The John O. Behrens Institute for Land Information Memorial Scholarship aims to support undergraduate students pursuing education in geospatial science or land information systems. Awarded by the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), it provides a $3,000 grant and a one-year student membership in ASPRS. To support a (Blue Ridge Community College) BRCC student who is planning to attend a four-year college or university. The scholarship recipient should be a student who plans to attend and has been accepted to attend a four-year college. The student should demonstrate scholastic ability (to include a student gifted in the arts), financial need, character, leadership ability, participation in extracurricular activities and demonstrated ability to complete a college education (in order for the scholarship to be renewed, the student must maintain a GPA of 3.0). Other things being equal, preference should be given to scholastic ability.

This scholarship is renewable for 2 years only. 

The National Center for Construction Safety and Health Research and Translation (U54) aims to enhance worker safety in the construction industry through innovative research and intervention strategies. By fostering partnerships and focusing on evidence-based solutions, the Center will address critical safety and health challenges faced by construction workers. The initiative aligns with NIOSH's strategic objectives, promoting collaboration among academic institutions and organizations to improve health outcomes and reduce the occupational health burden in this vital sector.

The Hew-Shinn Scholarship Fund honors A.K. Hew's parents and emphasizes education's importance. This scholarship is available to Maui County residents enrolled in accredited vocational programs, with a minimum GPA of 2.0 required. Preference is given to previous recipients who continue to meet eligibility criteria. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and submit a letter of recommendation. The application deadline aligns with the pre-proposal deadline, ensuring timely consideration for interested students.

This scholarship is for a college-bound student who is a legal resident of Henderson County, North Carolina or Van Buren County, Michigan. The applicant must demonstrate financial need and have a record of community service. Preference will be given to graduates of a Henderson County high school or a graduate of Hartford Public Schools. 

This is a renewable scholarship.

The Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship supports Ph.D. candidates in the humanities and social sciences with a $31,000 stipend for their final year of dissertation writing. This prestigious fellowship encourages original research that engages with religion, ethics, and values. Candidates must have completed all coursework and preliminary exams, and be in the writing stage of their dissertation. About Denis Barton ScholarshipApplicant must be a resident of either Transylvania or Henderson County who has graduated from a public, private, parochial or home school program who wishes to pursue an undergraduate degree at a degree granting college or university and who demonstrates the need for financial assistance in order to attend an institution of higher learning. The applicant should have a cumulative GPA equivalent to a "C average" upon graduation. Preference will be given to students from Transylvania County. Financial need will be more strongly considered than grades. An adult student will be considered for this scholarship if he or she can demonstrate reason as to why he or she did not pursue his or her college education immediately after high school. Such reasons would include but are not limited to military service, medical reasons, family obligations, and/or mission work. The recipient must be awarded the scholarship prior to the age of 30.This is a renewable scholarship.
