Duane Young, a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and Michigan State University as well as a professional football player, established this fund in 1994 to provide scholarship assistance to student athletes who have the desire and the skills necessary to participate in athletics while attending a college/university.

KZCF scholarships may be applied to any items under your school’s cost of attendance (COA). Each school has a different COA that may include items such as tuition, fees, housing, transportation, food, health insurance, etc.  Scholarship payments are sent directly to your institution. 

This scholarship is a one-time award, meaning that it will not repeat in subsequent years. The money awarded can be applied to your education costs alongside other scholarships or funding that you may receive, and there are no necessary steps once funds are sent.

The Paul J. Laninga Memorial Scholarship, established by Tamara Laninga in memory of her husband, supports graduating seniors from Northwest Ottawa County pursuing careers in accounting or business. This competitive scholarship prioritizes students demonstrating financial need and academic excellence, while encouraging applications from those planning to attend public universities. The FSF Case Study Scholarship invites talented fashion students to tackle real-world challenges in the industry. Open to full-time students at U.S. four-year colleges, this annual scholarship provides funding for educational expenses, mentorship opportunities, and access to internships. Recipients also enjoy invitations to the prestigious FSF Awards Gala in New York City. With a focus on supporting diverse backgrounds, this scholarship encourages all aspiring fashion professionals to apply and advance their careers.

In 2025, the Community Foundation of Madison & Jefferson County awarded over $233,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors of the county’s public and private high schools. Nearly 50 different students earned money toward their college costs. Scholarships are available for a variety of applicants. Some are specific to schools, majors, need, or interests.

CFMJC scholarships may be used for tuition and related expenses like fees and required equipment at accredited colleges and universities. Room and board are not covered.

Kellogg Company-Tony McGee Scholarship Fund

The Kellogg Company - Tony McGee Scholarship was specifically established for the purpose of providing scholarships to minority graduates/graduating seniors from the greater Battle Creek area seeking educational opportunities beyond high school. Scholarship awards will support associate and bachelor’s degree programs, as well as certificate and apprenticeship programs.

Priority is given to those exhibiting financial need and a work history.
