Our members include physicians, PAs, nurse practitioners, behavioral health specialists, researchers, pharmacists, nurses and other health care professionals, health system executives, administrators, coordinators, fellows, residents, students, and others involved in the education of family physicians. 

STFM Excellence in Education Award

Designed to honor outstanding teachers, the STFM Excellence in Education Award recognizes an STFM member who has demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, mentoring, research, or leadership in education at regional or national levels. Nominees must have sustained involvement in family medicine education.

The selection is made by the STFM Nominations Committee and approved by the STFM Board of Directors. Nominations are ranked based on the:

• Contributions recognized at the home institution
• Regional/national impact of nominee's activities
• Sustained involvement in family medicine education

Nominees must be STFM members. Members of the Nominations Committee are not eligible to receive the award while serving on the Committee.

Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri

The Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri Inc. was established in 2009 as a 501(c)3 public charity to help donors support their favorite charities while receiving maximum tax advantage.

We serve as a vehicle for charitable giving, helping donors give to the causes they care about. Donor gifts will strengthen nonprofits increasing programs and services. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to establish a fund with us. 

Townsend, R.E. Educational Scholarship

This fund was established by the trustees of the R.E. Townsend Educational Fund to provide academic scholarships to students intending to further their education.

Guidelines:

Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed in August.

Amount:

Minimum of $1,000 and maximum of $2,000 per recipient depending on the fund balance.

The Kiwanis Club of Marietta has proudly established and contributed to several scholarship endowments over the years to support deserving college students in our community. These scholarships are made possible through our club's Flag Project, which places over 1,300 American flags in front of homes and businesses five times each year.

Mack Henderson Special Education Scholarship

This is a scholarship established in 1991 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation and renamed in 2024 to honor an outstanding longtime Kiwanian and Cobb County community leader Mack Henderson.

This scholarship is available to assist a teacher or student accepted into an accredited college or university who is pursuing a major or certification in the field of special education. Selection emphasis will be placed on academic achievement and character, with priority given to current or former Cobb or Marietta students.

The Franklin County Retired Teachers Association scholarship fund assists current teachers in a Franklin County public school system as they return to school to pursue their Master's degree.

K–12 teachers and educators offering substantial earth science content, including those in Northern Mariana Islands, can be recognized for exceptional contributions to Earth science education. The National Association of Geoscience Teachers honors pre-college educators through regional and state/province Outstanding Earth Science Teacher awards, supporting professional growth and higher levels of teaching performance.

Geoscience teaching assistants seeking recognition for outstanding instructional work, including those in the Northern Mariana Islands, can be nominated for the National Association of Geoscience Teachers’ Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards. Grants from National Association of Geoscience Teachers help higher-ed Earth science departments honor undergraduate and graduate TAs with national recognition and a one-year NAGT membership that supports their professional development.

Geoscience educators fostering interest in Earth science, including those in the Northern Mariana Islands, can receive recognition and support for exceptional teaching contributions through the Neil Miner Award. The National Association of Geoscience Teachers honors individuals annually, with nominations submitted by NAGT members and based on tailored letters of support and a curriculum vitae.

Geoscience educators and researchers in the Northern Mariana Islands can receive US $500 for outstanding scholarly papers that advance geoscience education and teacher development. The National Association of Geoscience Teachers honors Journal of Geoscience Education articles that demonstrate innovative, well-assessed student learning enhancements, disciplinary advancement, and broad societal impact in Earth science education.

Geoscience educators and researchers who review for the Journal of Geoscience Education can apply for the JGE Outstanding Reviewer Award, which provides US $500 for outstanding peer-review contributions. This National Association of Geoscience Teachers recognition is open across the U.S., and teachers in the Northern Mariana Islands engaged in JGE reviewing may be eligible.

Northern Mariana Islands teacher development and training programs in geoscience education can access funding through the National Association of Geoscience Teachers, which offers sponsorships for aligned activities. Eligible organizations, groups, and individuals can seek support for long-term programs or single events that promote effective Earth education and professional growth for educators.

Geoscience educators contributing long-term service to the National Association of Geoscience Teachers may be honored through the Robert Christman Distinguished Service Award, selected by the Executive Committee. With a mission to promote excellence in Earth education, NAGT recognizes members whose leadership and volunteer efforts support geoscience teacher development and training, including those in the Northern Mariana Islands.
