MetroWest Health Foundation

The MetroWest Health Foundation is an independent health philanthropy whose mission is to improve the health status of the community, its individuals, and families through informed and innovative leadership.

The foundation meets the health needs of our region's residents by supporting community-based and community driven programs. We encourage and foster leadership on critical health issues. We are a grantmaker, convener and facilitator, working to provide resources, information, ideas and advocacy for community change. Since its inception in 1999, the foundation has provided more than $50 million in financial support that helps residents and their families lead healthier lives.

MetroWest Health Foundation: Medical/Clinical Scholarship

Scholarships are provided to students who are residents of one of the 25 towns in our MetroWest service area. Students must be accepted into an eligible medical, or clinical program at an accredited academic institution.

Tuition scholarships are awarded for a maximum of up to $4,000 per academic year. Students can receive a maximum of 4 scholarships. Applicants are eligible to reapply on an annual basis.

The Brian A. Kelley Memorial Scholarship

The Brian A. Kelley Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 award presented by the Kelley Family Charitable Foundation. Brian's legacy is defined by his extraordinary compassion and generosity, which touched numerous lives in his community through countless acts of kindness. He was passionate about supporting local youth sports and was proud to be an alumnus of Bradford High School.

When Brian experienced his first heart attack, our community rallied around him, understanding that the road to recovery would be long and challenging. Despite his remarkable resilience, he was later diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Although he fought with unwavering courage, he ultimately succumbed to the disease.

In tribute to Brian’s determined spirit and selflessness, we established the Brian A. Kelley Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship honors Brian’s memory by recognizing individuals who embody strength, kindness, and a commitment to serving their community, inspiring others to follow in his footsteps.

The Summer Research Education Experience Program (R25) is designed to enhance educational activities in biomedical and clinical research. This program aims to provide high school and undergraduate students, as well as science teachers, with immersive research experiences during summer breaks. Applications for standard and renewal submissions are due on March 18, 2025, and consecutive years thereafter, while AIDS-related applications are due on May 7 in the same years. Letters of Intent are encouraged.

Puget Sound Energy Scholarship

Scholarship for graduating high school seniors pursuing a degree in engineering. Applicants must live in Island, King, Kitsap, Kittitas, Pierce, Skagit, Thurston or Whatcom counties.

The Dakota Alliance Soccer Club Student Athlete Scholarship, managed by the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation, offers financial support to graduating seniors from Sioux Falls high schools. Eligible applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and participate in soccer. This scholarship aims to enhance educational opportunities by supplementing existing financial aid, making it easier for students to pursue their dreams of higher education.

National Federation of the Blind of Pennsylvania

The National Federation of the Blind of Pennsylvania is a state affiliate of the National Federation of the Blind.

National Federation of the Blind of Louisiana

The National Federation of the Blind of Louisiana provides a network of support and encouragement and promotes an understanding of the real problems of blindness... the attitudes and misconceptions which we and the general public have about blindness. We believe that with training and opportunity (and these are important) the average blind or visually impaired person can lead a perfectly normal life--not just dream about it.

Each year at its State Convention, the National Federation of the Blind of Louisiana (NFBL) awards merit-based scholarships to recognize the achievement of blind scholars. 

Previous winners of NFBL scholarships and others who have applied in the past are encouraged to reapply. 

National Federation of the Blind of Maryland

With more than 50,000 members, the National Federation of the Blind is the largest and most influential membership organization of blind people in the United States. The NFB improves blind people’s lives through advocacy, education, research, technology, and programs encouraging independence and self-confidence. It is the leading force in the blindness field today and the voice of the nation’s blind.

The NFB has affiliates in all fifty states plus Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, and over seven hundred local chapters.

Indiana State Affiliate Scholarship

When the application for the national scholarship is submitted, the applicant is automatically eligible for the state level scholarship. The application that is used for the national scholarship is the same one that is used for the state scholarship; however it is mailed to our scholarship committee chair person.

The state level Scholarship is awarded to 1 student for 1,000, Or 2 students for 500 each.

Thomas D. Buckley Trust

Thomas Dennis Buckley was born in December 1897 in Missouri to Dennis and Susan Buckley. His family—his parents, brothers Frank and John, sister Elizabeth, and Tom—moved to Lamar in 1906. In 1917, Tom came to Chappell, Nebraska with his brothers. The men lived in a bunkhouse on wheels and hired out to break sod using a one-cylinder Rumley tractor. After serving one year in the military, Tom worked on the railroad for several years before returning to Chappell, where he began farming. He continued farming until his death on June 12, 1979.

Upon his death, a Private Foundation—the Thomas D. Buckley Trust—was formed in accordance with his wishes. The Trustees sold his land in 1980 at record-high prices and invested the proceeds, along with the investments Tom held at the time of his death. These funds continue to support the mission of the Trust today.

Thomas D. Buckley Trust Continuing Education Scholarship

The Trust awards $20,000 of scholarships to students who are currently enrolled in college seeking Associate Degrees or Bachelor Degrees. There will be ten $2,000 scholarships awarded each year to students who will be a college Sophomore, Junior, or Senior during the next Fall Semester.

Each scholarship will be paid $1,000 in the Fall Semester and $1,000 in the Spring Semester, and cannot be carried to another year. The payments will be sent directly to the school that the recipient is attending.

The scholarship money can be used for tuition, room and board, fees and books.

Aprendamos Juntos Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide scholarships to NM resident, second-semester students working in one of the following; physical therapy, occupational therapy, board certified behavior analyst program

The NMDP Amy Strelzer Manasevit Research Program Grant supports early-career researchers in hematopoietic cell transplantation and cellular therapy. With a maximum funding of $400,000 over five years, it aims to address complications post-transplant, such as infection and relapse. This prestigious grant encourages innovative research proposals, particularly those targeting HLA-mismatched donor outcomes. By fostering new talent in the field, the program is essential for advancing our understanding of critical post-transplant challenges.

Armstrong County Community Foundation (The Community Foundation Serving the Heart of Western Pennsylvania)

In 1997 Merchants National Bank, an Armstrong County community bank, marked its 100th anniversary. The centennial celebration included a unique expression of gratitude to the community in the form of $100,000 to be used as a seed fund to initiate a community foundation for Armstrong County. The bank challenged the community to keep the principal balance of the endowed funds intact and spend only a portion of the interest earnings to ensure a lasting legacy.

The Armstrong County Community Foundation, a public nonprofit corporation,

• Gives grants, scholarships, and organizational support to address the needs of our community.
• Builds a permanent endowment to help our donors create a legacy through this endowment.
• Promotes informed philanthropy to increase and sustain charitable resources for the region.
• Provides leadership and builds partnerships to identify and solve community issues.

Klingensmith Scholarship

In October of 1983, the Trustees and various Klingensmith Trusts created a scholarship to further the higher education of working high school students residing in Ford City who chose to study in the field of pharmacy. Trustees funded the scholarship with $40,000, designated it as "The Klingensmith Fund," and authorized representatives of the Armstrong School District to invest and reinvest said principal sum and use the income to benefit any eligible student selected by the School District Representatives.

The Trustees further directed that in February of 2007, the School District was to use the Klingensmith Fund's principal and income in its sole discretion to further the interests of the "high school in Ford City" and giving adequate consideration to pharmacological education.

The Klingensmith Trusts that established the Klingensmith Fund no longer existed; and there no longer being a high school in Ford City, the CEO of Klingensmith Drug Stores, David J. Cippel, requested that the School District transfer the balance of the Klingensmith Fund to The Community Foundation Serving the Heart of Western Pennsylvania (the Armstrong County Community Foundation), a public nonprofit corporation, for the purpose of establishing student scholarships.

The Community Foundation Serving the Heart of Western Pennsylvania (the Armstrong County Community Foundation) willingly accepted. The Armstrong School District transferred the remaining principal and income of the Klingensmith Fund to The Community Foundation Serving the Heart of Western Pennsylvania (the Armstrong County Community Foundation) for the purpose of establishing college scholarships.

Washington County Community Foundation

The Washington County Community Foundation seeks to improve the quality of life in Washington County by promoting and facilitating philanthropy. We accomplish this by assuming four philanthropic roles of Grantmaker, Donor Service Organization, Fundraiser, and Community Leader. Fostering philanthropy by offering charitable gifting opportunities to donors on an individualized basis and at reasonable fees, we make charitable giving easier, more satisfying, and more effective. 

The Foundation is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of Pennsylvania, which is registered with the Pennsylvania Charities Bureau and annually files the Federal Form 990.

Scholarships for Post-Secondary (Undergraduate) School

The Foundation provides both need-based and merit-based scholarships to students in Washington County, with a few scholarships also available to students in Greene County. All scholarships are made payable to the educational institution the student is attending. 

Three Oaks Scholarship Fund

For current year graduating seniors or non-traditional students who reside within the boundaries of the Burgettstown School District, Fort Cherry School District, or Avella Area School District and who are pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited trade or technical school. 

The New York Health Foundation is offering sponsorship for nonprofits and community organizations to participate in conferences that support healthy communities, consumer empowerment, and veterans' health. This initiative aims to enhance the visibility of innovative work being done in New York, particularly for those historically marginalized. By facilitating attendance at local, state, and national events, the Foundation seeks to empower organizations to showcase their impactful programs and connect with key stakeholders.

Pepsi – Craig Whitehead Scholarship

Pepsi, Inc. donates scholarship funds to the Siletz Tribe and has asked that this be the Pepsi-Craig Whitehead Scholarship in honor of Craig Whitehead, Tribal member and Pow-Wow Coordinator at the time of his death in 2004.

Craig was also the Tribal Whip Man for Pow-Wows, coordinated a dance troupe that visited schools and was the Peace Keeper for the Citizen’s Advisory Board (CAB). He was a dear friend and loved by all who knew him.

This scholarship is open to any field of study.

The Bill Barlow "Second Chance" Scholarship, managed by the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from alternative schools or local high schools and GED earners aiming for higher education. The scholarship offers financial assistance for tuition and related expenses, with a GPA requirement of 3.0 for public/private high school graduates. It encourages applicants to pursue their educational dreams without the burden of financial constraints, helping them take significant steps toward their futures.

The Herman and LaVerne Griller Scholarship, managed by the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation, offers scholarships to students in the Sioux Falls area. Eligible applicants must plan to attend an accredited four-year institution, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is part of a larger program providing over $500,000 annually to local students pursuing higher education. It aims to support students in achieving their academic dreams.

The National Pride Grant for LGBTQIA+ Small Businesses, opening for applications on April 22, 2025, offers $25,000 in funding distributed as $1,000 micro grants to 25 eligible LGBTQIA+ business owners. Designed to support diverse founder-led enterprises, this initiative encourages professional development and aids in achieving over $1 million in revenue. Eligible participants must have a U.S.-based business and meet specific criteria regarding ownership, revenue, and employee count.

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) seeks to advance its mission by continuing support for a Clinical Research Network on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). AMR is a major health challenge that limits treatment options and allows resistant infections to persist. Individuals with chronic conditions like diabetes and cancer are particularly vulnerable, resulting in increased illness and death as well as higher healthcare costs in the United States. The program aims to design, implement, and manage clinical research addressing key clinical questions in AMR. Research will focus on bacterial and fungal infections associated with AMR. Areas of emphasis include clinical testing of new antibiotics and other treatments such as bacteriophage therapy, methods optimizing the use of existing antibiotics, evaluating novel diagnostic tests including using diagnostics to refine treatment strategies, and mentoring the next generation of AMR clinical researchers. Grant authorities that allow NIAID to forecast this opportunity are as follows: Sections 301 and 405 of the Public Health Service Act as amended (42 USC 241 and 284) and under Federal Regulations 42 CFR Part 52 and 2 CFR Part 200.

The NASN Research Grants, established by the National Association of School Nurses, aim to promote research on school nursing and the health of school-aged children. These grants support innovative projects led by school nurses who are NASN members. The program emphasizes the importance of quality school nursing practice, encouraging applications that adhere to specified guidelines and focus on future research initiatives. With a rich history of funding impactful studies, NASN continues to advance healthcare delivery in educational settings.

Sam A. Mills Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduate of a Henderson County public high school who is pursuing an undergraduate degree in an accredited school on a full-time basis. The applicant must demonstrate financial need and show scholastic achievement and good citizenship.

Haddy Harrington Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is to provide financial assistance for students who have demonstrated a passionate desire for advanced education in art or writing. Applicant must be a graduate of a Henderson County high school with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

This is a renewable scholarship.

We are an independent foundation which has been serving Seventh-day Adventist ministries and a select few other humanitarian efforts with financial grants since 1990. We are a self-funded lay organization, and our board is comprised of both lay Adventists and present and former Adventist church employees, all committed to furthering the Kingdom of God and to restoring the “image of God” in those in need.

Journalism for Adventist Solutions (JAS) 

Journalism for Adventist Solutions (JAS) grants aim to promote ethical reporting and diverse storytelling by encouraging integrity, creativity, and journalistic excellence in Adventist communication through targeted grant funding. 

The JAS grant application is open year-round, with funds awarded annually each March and September.

Project Priorities

• Systemic issues in Adventism that demand investigation and fresh thinking
• Journalists and media organizations producing major stories on vital issues related to Adventism
• New ways to communicate the diverse Adventist-related stories of what God is doing
• Awards and recognition to celebrate journalistic achievements and foster a culture of excellence in ethical storytelling
• Evaluation methods to maintain accountability and ethics in Adventist communication
• Courses, workshops, and mentorship programs to enhance journalist skills, ethics, and innovative practices in Adventist communication
• Travel, technology, stipends and honoraria as relevant to the project request

Applicants must agree to provide a post-grant report, including a full financial accounting of how JAS monies were used and agree to be audited if requested.

We manage one of the largest scholarship programs in our area, with more than $182,000 committed to students in over 70 new and renewed scholarships awarded each year.

Mason-Oceana-Manistee Board of Realtors Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of the Mason-Oceana-Manistee Board of Realtors members, who established the Mason-Oceana-Manistee Board of Realtors Scholarship Fund of the Community Foundation for Mason County.

The Mason-Oceana-Manistee Board of Realtors created this Scholarship Fund to benefit graduating seniors from any Mason, Oceana, or Manistee County High. This fund supports a student from each county every year.
