About
With deep roots in California’s Central Valley, The Save Mart Companies and its family of stores prides itself in being a part of neighborhoods and putting people first. Our dedication to customers is reflected in the connections we’ve made in the communities we’ve served for more than 70 years.
The Save Mart Companies CARES Foundation
In 2000, we established The Save Mart Companies CARES Foundation, our philanthropic, non-profit organization, supporting programs and organizations that provide vital resources for children and families in the communities we serve. The CARES Foundation focuses on building stronger communities through fresh foods, accessibility, and programs that support youth and helping them to thrive. Annually, The CARES Foundation contributes approximately $500,000 in small grants to support community-based, non-profit organizations.
The Save Mart Companies CARES Foundation Grant
The CARES Foundation’s focus is building stronger communities through fresh foods, access to food, and programs that support youth and helping them thrive.
The CARES Foundation will review, on a quarterly basis, among other things, the breadth of the audience served; the likely impact in the community; the importance of the need to be addressed in the community; and the community reputation, service history, and financial stability of the group or program seeking funds. No one of these or other factors will necessarily be weighted more heavily than another. Instead, each group or program will be measured against all groups and 2 programs seeking funding at the time. For example, a program serving a small segment of the community but that addresses an especially important community need, and thus has the potential for a strong and meaningful impact, would be favored over a group serving a wider clientele but that fills a less important community need. Requests for Grants should be a minimum of $500.00 up to $10,000.00. Programs and organizations requesting smaller grants should contact the Store Manager of the nearest Save Mart Companies’ store location for request consideration.
Recipients that receive grants for more than one year must demonstrate meaningful outcomes for the previous investment made by The CARES Foundation.

Zero-Emission Fueling Infrastructure Grants
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) administers the Zero-Emission Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program to support the development of charging and fueling infrastructure for medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles. Eligible applicants include public agencies, businesses, and Tribal governments. Grants reimburse a portion of eligible project costs for the design and installation of direct-current fast chargers and Level 2 chargers. Priority is given to projects in locations disproportionately affected by poor air quality.
In 2026, Oregon DEQ is providing approximately $600,000 in one-time reimbursement funding through the Oregon Zero-Emission Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program. It expands the state's charging infrastructure for medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles. Federally funded through Oregon's Climate Equity and Resilience Through Action Grant, this investment will support projects critical to increasing Oregon's EV fleet charging network and prioritize fleets that operate in or close to communities adversely affected by diesel pollution.
Project costs may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research
The Asia-Pacific region, home to over half the world's population, faces challenges due to its development goals, which strain natural resources, communities, and cultural heritage. These issues are exacerbated by adverse environmental changes. While research has shed light on these problems, it's clear that more challenges lie ahead. The Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) is well-positioned to generate new knowledge and solutions for these evolving global change and sustainability issues by supporting collaborative research and scientific capacity development activities, particularly those aimed at training the next generation of early career professionals.
APN 2025 Call for Proposals: CRRP
Through the competitive Collaborative Regional Research Programme (CRRP), we promote regional research that has potential to improve our understanding of global change and its implications while contributing to a sound scientific basis for policymaking in areas affected by global change. Under this pillar, APN supports collaborative research that contributes to the evolving science-policy arena, including the UNFCCC Paris Agreement, IPCC, IPBES, post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals, Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and the UN Decade of Ocean Science as well as ongoing and new global change and sustainability research programmes.
Activities of interest under the CRRP Programme
APN promotes regional collaborative research that improves understanding of the physical, biological and human dimensions of change in the Earth system and advances actionable science that informs decision-making. APN accepts proposals that engage at least 3 member/approved countries in the region, and prioritise collaboratively designed, actionable research with non-academic stakeholders. Proposals must address one or more of the following activities:
