The James & Ursula Williams Teacher Grants Program : Field Trip Grants

As a born native of Vallejo, James was generationally admired for his enduring work ethic and was lovingly embraced for his dedication and support to family, friends, and community. Ursula’s self-motivation, persistence, and quest for excellence brought her professional recognition. As a community activist, she shared her leadership organizational skills as a member of community and political organizations who made positive contributions to the community.

In life, they created and took advantage of all opportunities presented to them. Both recognized the important role that education made in creating healthy, happy, and productive lives for themselves, their children, and their grandchildren. The Williams Family hopes to continue their legacy through The James & Ursula Williams Family Fund.

Field Trip Grants:

Grants of up to $1,000 are available to fund 1-day excursions; field trips should have an academic component that supplements your classroom curriculum. Funds can cover the cost of transportation, and admission fees. Examples: Vallejo Flood and Water District, the Exploratorium, etc. The purpose of this program is to bring learning outside of the classroom and provide hands-on experiences to students.

The James McKeen Cattell Sabbatical Grant, provided by the James McKeen Cattell Fund, offers supplementary financial support for psychologists' sabbaticals. This grant is designed for faculty members at U.S. and Canadian institutions who meet specific eligibility criteria, including tenure status and recent leave history. The maximum award is capped at $40,000 or half the recipient's salary, ensuring that recipients can extend their research time effectively.

The Pittsburgh Young Professionals Scholarship Fund, established by The Pittsburgh Foundation, supports local students in their educational pursuits. Recipients attend an orientation at the ASH annual meeting, gaining insights from experienced professionals. The Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff Arts Council (GHMCAC) established this scholarship as a way to assist graduating high school seniors, who are residents of Grandview Heights or Marble Cliff, pursue post-secondary education. The award is given in honor of Nancy E. Kukla.

USS Indianapolis/Gwinn "Angel" Scholarship

Available to descendants of family members who are directly linked to USS Indianapolis, such as a final crew member (Survivor or Lost at Sea), rescue crew, or honorary survivor. Other unique affiliations with the ship's legacy will be considered by the board of review.  

Anthony Wunderle Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by Lori and Greg Wunderle in memory of their son Anthony who had childhood leukemia. This scholarship is to provide educational opportunities for a higher education, accredited trade, or apprenticeship program for any cancer survivor or family member of a cancer patient, living or deceased.

John-Elizabeth Blaho Miller Fund

The John-Elizabeth Blaho Miller Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation was created to provide scholarship assistance for students, with a preference for students who have an awareness and appreciation of Hungarian culture, including its history, customs, and traditions, and who are undertaking a theological education in preparation for a ministry that draws upon Lutheran teachings in its worldview. John C. Miller was born in Budapest October 1910. In 1921 he immigrated to the United States with his parents (John Miller and Elizabeth Blaho Miller) where they resided in Ambridge, PA. For several years John was the manager of five motion picture houses owned by the Chateau Amusement Company. In 1955 he became a program supervisor at Buhl Planetarium where he retired at the age of 67 in 1977. In December 2001 John established this scholarship in memory of his parents.

The ASNT Foundation's Faculty Grant aims to enhance nondestructive testing (NDT) education at US universities and colleges. By providing $10,000 in funding, this grant supports faculty in revising or developing NDT curricula. Recipients who are not ASNT members receive a complimentary one-year membership. Preference will be given to a student who will pursue a degree in business or a related field.

Unknown Donor Scholarship Fund

The Unknown Donor Scholarship Fund was established at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors of Pittsburgh Public Schools with a preference for applicants who have faced social, economic, or educational barriers due to systemic gender inequity.

The Shenoy Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Neuroscience (SURFiN) by the Simons Foundation aims to engage undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds in neuroscience research. With funding up to $150,000, the program aims to advance training in clinical genetics and prepare candidates for board certification, ultimately enhancing the health of purebred and purpose-bred dogs.

Witness To Win Inc

Witness to Win, Inc. is a product of the Mathena family’s deep commitment to honoring God and God’s mission as stated in Matthew 28:19-20. These legacy values of giving and sharing were not only taught but were caught by the Mathena children. Many times, foundations are created to honor people and their legacy; however, Gary, Teresa, David, Melissa and John’s desire is to glorify the person of Jesus Christ and make Him known to all peoples. Therefore, the Mathena children unanimously decided to create the Witness to Win Foundation in 2017.

Over the past 10 years, the Mathena Family has given over $80M through their tithes and offerings to their local churches and to charitable organizations whose sole purpose is to share the love and message of Jesus Christ. 

Witness to Win Grant Program

To encourage and support charitable 501(c)(3) organizations who have as among their primary purpose to share and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations. These organizations will directly fulfill this purpose through Christian religious education and qualified Christian ministries. These charitable organizations must all be headquartered in the United States and must adhere to Christian, moral, and conservative standards of belief and conduct as specified in our Statements of Belief.

The R Accelerated Award Grants by Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation aim to support innovative pediatric oncology research. These grants are designed for early-career scientists focused on developing less toxic therapies for childhood cancers. Eligible applicants must be first-time principal investigators with a strong institutional backing and a commitment to pediatric cancer research. The program emphasizes the importance of scientific rigor and aims to accelerate the discovery of effective treatments, thereby improving outcomes for children with cancer.

The Accelerator Programs: Reach Grant, offered by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, aims to bridge gaps in pediatric cancer research by funding pre-clinical studies necessary for clinical trial readiness. With a mission rooted in Alex Scott’s legacy, the program supports innovative research that can lead to effective treatments for children with cancer. Westmoreland County Housing Authority Scholarship Fund

The Westmoreland County Housing Authority Scholarship Fund was created at The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, a component of The Pittsburgh Foundation, to encourage higher education and as a result, promote community responsibility, develop self-sufficiency and increase self-esteem. WCHA Scholarships are to benefit high school seniors and adults entering secondary education who reside in Westmoreland County Housing Authority public housing, Westmoreland Non Profit Housing Corporation housing or participate in the Section 8 Program and wish to continue their education.

The Dermatology Foundation's Dermatologist Investigator Research Fellowship offers $30,000 to advance early-career researchers in dermatology. This fellowship is designed for dermatologists committed to an academic career in medical and surgical dermatology. The Reeves Foundation supports research aimed at understanding and treating macular degeneration, a condition that has personally affected the founder's family. The Westmoreland Walks Pink Ribbon Scholarship Fund, established by The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, supports graduating seniors from Westmoreland County high schools affected by breast cancer. This single-year scholarship aims to assist students in pursuing their educational goals, whether at vocational, technical, or four-year institutions. The Pittsburgh Foundation, a long-standing community foundation since 1945, manages various funds to enhance the quality of life in the region.

The Mellon Foundation Native American Scholars Initiative (NASI) Postdoctoral Fellowship offers a nine-month opportunity for recent doctoral graduates, professors, and independent scholars to engage with Indigenous communities. Supported by the American Philosophical Society, the fellowship includes a stipend of $50,000, $20,000 for health insurance, and additional funds for travel and relocation. This initiative aims to foster collaboration between scholars and Indigenous communities, prioritizing those with personal engagement in Native issues.

American Academy of Periodontology Foundation

Mission Statement

The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation serves to advance the specialty of periodontology and dental implant surgery through advocacy, research, and education.

The AAP Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity and the only organization of its kind designed exclusively to serve the community of periodontal caregivers and patients.

International Resident Award

The AAPF International Resident Award was created by founding gifts from Dr. Irina F. Dragan and her patients at The Perio Studio, Boston, MA. Dr. Dragan is a former AAPF Awardee and current Board Member who completed her dental degree in Romania and her periodontal residency in US.

The applicants must be nominated by their Program Director. Applicants that demonstrate leadership and/or community service are encouraged to apply.
