The Community Possible Grant Program by U.S. Bank aims to foster economic and workforce advancement, as well as safe and affordable housing. The Costco Wholesale Charitable Contributions program prioritizes support for children, education, and health services within local communities. Nonprofit organizations seeking assistance must be 501(c)(3) certified and focus on monetary requests. Applications are reviewed within 4-6 weeks, factoring in community needs and collaboration. However, Costco limits grants to 10% of the program budget and typically restricts organizations to one request per fiscal year. They do not fund individuals or direct aid for various specific purposes.

The DanPaul Foundation aims to enhance early childhood development by training teachers and parents, protecting children from abuse, and promoting social responsibility. They provide grants to non-profits for programs that focus on education, health, and welfare of youth. Key initiatives include scholarships, environmental education, and support for underprivileged children. Founded by Khosrow and Ghazaleh Semnani, it began by funding an orphanage in Romania. The foundation also operates locally, providing free healthcare through the Maliheh Free Clinic in Utah. The Community Ties Giving Program by Union Pacific Foundation offers local grants aimed at enhancing community well-being through diverse funding priorities. These include safety initiatives, workforce development, community vitality, and environmental sustainability. The program emphasizes supporting organizations that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, aiming to create impactful projects that resonate with Union Pacific's heritage and mission. Organizations eligible for funding must be 501(c)(3) public charities. The Penn National Gaming Foundation Grants support various community initiatives across North America, emphasizing education, health services, and cultural affairs. The GIG Fund: Arts and Wellness offers grants ranging from $2,000 to $15,000 to support projects that blend arts and wellness. Open to non-profit organizations, hospitals, and clinics across the Midwest, this fund aims to enhance community well-being through artistic initiatives. Established in 1958, the foundation prioritizes investments that align with its mission and values, promoting long-term well-being within communities where Georgia-Pacific operates. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public schools, and local government entities located within 30 miles of GP manufacturing sites.

The TJX Foundation Grants support nonprofit organizations located within 15 miles of a TJX store that align with their community mission. Eligible areas include basic needs, education for at-risk youth, workforce training, and safety from domestic violence. Organizations must be a registered 501(c)(3) for at least 12 months and have a nondiscrimination policy. Applications are invited through a Letter of Inquiry, with funding decisions based on community impact.

The NRA Foundation provides funding for charitable purposes as defined under IRS section 501(c)(3). Eligible organizations include government entities and IRS-recognized nonprofits. Grant requests must align with the Foundation's mission, which promotes firearms safety, education, and research. Ineligible organizations include labor unions and private businesses. The Foundation aims to support programs that enhance public benefit, particularly in the shooting sports and related educational activities.

In Youth We Trust is a philanthropic initiative by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois, designed to empower youth through grantmaking and leadership training. Since 1994, it has allocated over $500,000 to youth-led projects across Boone, Ogle, Stephenson, and Winnebago counties. This year, up to $40,000 will be available for community projects benefiting local youth, with two grant cycles focusing on proposals written by youth or nonprofit organizations. The program emphasizes collaboration, practical planning, and measurable outcomes.

The Dr. Scholl Foundation offers grants annually to IRS 501(c)(3) organizations, primarily focusing on U.S. applicants. The foundation supports projects in education, social services, healthcare, civic and cultural initiatives, and environmental efforts. While the grant cycle runs from October 1 to March 1, it encourages innovative solutions to global challenges. Only one application per organization is accepted each year, and funding is limited to one year. Unqualified organizations, including political entities, are ineligible.

Who We Are & What We Do

On November 26, 1997, a small group of citizens with an abundance of enthusiasm embarked on a mission to secure the quality of life in our region now and forever. By yearend, they had a modest $1,050. Through commitment and vision, the Quincy Area Community Foundation expanded and grew to become the Community Foundation Serving West Central Illinois & Northeast Missouri. 

Serving 12 counties on both sides of the Mississippi River, we operate as a bridge between our donors’ charitable visions and the nonprofit organizations that bring those visions to life. 

Robert & Barbara Girouard Endowment

About the Fund

Enlisting in the United States Air Force was one of the best decisions Robert (Bob) and Barbara (Barb) Girouard ever made. In fact, the two met at Iraklion Air Station in Crete, Greece and credit the military for creating an “avenue of success”.

“We have been so incredibly blessed. Serving in the Air Force gave us job opportunity, education and lifelong friends that we never imagined we would have growing up, so now we feel it is time to give something back,” said Barb.

When Bob and Barb were looking to make a difference in the community where they have spent their adult life, they decided to create an endowment fund at the Community Foundation to support veterans in West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri by establishing the Robert and Barbara Girouard Endowment.

Grant Purpose

The Robert & Barbara Girouard Endowment provides financial support to postsecondary and vocational training institutions for the support of Veterans’ education. Grants may be used to provide financial assistance for honorably discharged Veterans, including tuition, books, fees, and related expenses for honorably discharged Veterans or for the support of educational or vocational training and programs offered to Veterans.
