United Way seeks to improve lives across Northeast Arkansas by mobilizing the caring power of our community. From strengthening local resiliency to advancing health, youth opportunity, and financial security, United Way of Northeast Arkansas seeks to achieve a community where all can thrive. 

United Way offers an opportunity for donors to unite under one umbrella in order to create change. Its mission is accomplished through data collection and measurement, initiatives and collaborations, and the funding of local nonprofit programs. 

Community Impact Grant 

Community Impact Grants are available to organizations that serve or operate in Clay, Craighead, Cross, Greene, Jackson, Lawrence, Poinsett, Randolph, and Mississippi counties.

Our Focus and Priorities

Successful applicants will present programmatic needs and demonstrate how grant funding would strengthen the work of their agency within United Way's focus areas:

• Youth Opportunity - We create pathways for young people to reach their goals, from early childhood education to college and career success. Together, we are helping young people realize their full potential.

• Financial Security - We connect people to education, tools, and job training so they have financial freedom and peace of mind. Together, we can create a stronger financial future for every generation.

• Healthy Community - We improve access to nutritious food and quality health education and services, so people have the resources they need to lead healthy lives. Together, we can improve health and well-being for all.

• Community Resiliency - We help communities prepare for, prevent, and respond to challenges, from crisis support and disaster relief to environmental protection. Together, we can address urgent needs today for a better tomorrow. 

In addition, grant applicants must demonstrate how their work identifies and directly impacts one or both of our target populations:

• Individuals and families living in or below the ALICE threshold (visit www.unitedforalice.org/arkansas for more information)
• Those experiencing racial/ethnic disparities 

The Moniker Foundation's Southwest Region Grant offers $10,000 grants and $1,000 participation grants to eligible organizations in a competitive process. Applicants must operate within designated counties and be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. The program emphasizes early childhood education, youth programming, food security, and environmental initiatives, with an in-person Pitch Day required for selected applicants. Organizations are encouraged to focus on critical operating activities during the application process.

Nonprofits, community groups, and individuals serving youth in Perry County, Missouri can seek up to US $1,500 from the Perry County Youth Tax Board to strengthen programs that improve health, nutrition, and overall well-being for residents under 18. With a mission to enhance youth quality of life, this small grant can support local nutrition and healthy eating initiatives.

Nonprofits, public agencies, and other groups serving youth-focused health, nutrition, and wellness programs in Perry County, Missouri can seek large-grant support for projects improving life for residents under 18. Perry County Missouri provides more than US $1,500 to strengthen, sustain, or expand services, including nutrition and healthy eating initiatives for local children and teens.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations addressing nutritional health and healthy eating in eligible U.S. states can seek emergency funding for unplanned needs through the Rosendin Foundation Emergency Grant, with awards up to US $5,000. The Rosendin Foundation supports community-focused programs nationally, including nutrition and healthy eating initiatives responding to crises like fires, floods, or pandemics.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations working on emotional, occupational, or nutritional health programs in eligible U.S. states can apply for grants up to US $100,000. With a mission to positively impact communities, The Rosendin Foundation provides support for community-focused initiatives, which may include nutrition and healthy eating efforts in its listed service areas.

Greater Philadelphia 501(c)(3) nonprofits addressing community health factors like nutrition and healthy eating can apply for the GSK IMPACT Awards, which provide US $50,000 in unrestricted funding. With a mission to strengthen local health, The Philadelphia Foundation and GSK recognize innovative, community-centered organizations across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.

U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofits and accredited educational institutions conducting research on nutrition, healthy eating, wellness, or chronic illness can apply for Humana Foundation’s research grants, currently by invitation. Funding supports solution-focused health equity research nationally and in Florida, Kentucky’s Jefferson County, Louisiana, and Texas, which may benefit nutrition and healthy eating initiatives.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and eligible educational institutions developing health equity solutions in nutrition and healthy eating may be eligible for support in Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and Jefferson County, Kentucky. Focused on testing high-risk, high-reward interventions, Humana Foundation invites projects addressing preventable chronic disease and improving emotional connections and nutrition for populations facing inequity.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and accredited schools in Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and Jefferson County, Kentucky can seek support for programs advancing nutrition, healthy eating, and overall wellness. Humana Foundation provides Connected Healthy Lives Grants to expand food security, nutritional literacy, and holistic health initiatives in partnership with trusted community organizations.

New Hampshire nonprofits with prior AmeriCorps experience seeking to run full AmeriCorps programs, including those focused on nutrition and healthy eating, can apply for Volunteer NH’s competitive grants. Funded programs run for three years and can integrate nutrition, food access, or healthy eating initiatives within broader community service efforts.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations serving the Hampton Roads metropolitan area can receive up to US $25,000 for small, time-limited projects advancing nutrition, healthy eating, and related basic needs. Focused on wholesome nourishment, safe shelter, education, and economic opportunity, the Blocker Foundation invites programs addressing immediate community needs within its Virginia and northeastern North Carolina service area.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations serving the Hampton Roads metropolitan area can seek funding for nutrition, healthy eating, shelter, education, economic opportunity, and related community programs. With a mission to empower Hampton Roads communities, The Blocker Foundation provides project, program, core operating, and capital support for efforts benefiting low-income and disadvantaged residents.

Connecticut nonprofits working on nutrition, healthy eating, housing, education, or basic human services can access funding through Northwest Community Bank Foundation for program, capacity-building, or capital projects. 501(c)(3) organizations serving Northwest Community Bank communities may receive up to US $25,000 to strengthen quality of life, including food and nutrition programs.

Spokane County nonprofits and fiscally sponsored groups serving women and/or children with nutrition and healthy eating programs can access funding through Women Helping Women Fund. Eligible 501(c)(3) organizations may propose responsive, community-based projects that strengthen homes and support women’s and children’s well-being during a one-year grant period.

With a mission to support wellness for older adults, Pinellas Community Foundation provides Pinellas County nonprofits and government agencies with funding to expand or improve direct services for residents aged 55 or older. Eligible projects include nutrition and healthy eating programs, mental health counseling, adult day care, caregiver support, durable medical equipment, and other wellness-related services.

Eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public agencies, schools, tribal governments, and fiscally sponsored groups in Maine can apply for US $10,000 - US $1,000,000 to advance food justice, nutrition equity, and local food systems. Grants from Elmina B. Sewall Foundation can support grassroots, equity-driven efforts, including collaborations and transformational projects over one to five years.

Research institutions studying obesity-related nutrition and healthy behaviors in the U.S. and territories can apply for time-sensitive evaluation funding to assess new policies or programs affecting diet, physical activity, or sedentary behavior. US Dept. of Health & Human Services: National Institutes of Health supports rapid-start projects that seize uncommon, short-lived opportunities to study obesity prevention impacts.

Families in the U.S. caring for individuals with autism can apply for MyGOAL’s need-based grants, which support non-reimbursable medical, nutritional, personal, and educational or socialization expenses. Funding may help cover vitamins and supplements for children with ASD, as well as camps and other enrichment activities that promote healthy development and well-being.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) and other charitable organizations working on nutrition and healthy eating in North America can seek funding to combat hunger and promote nutritional wellness. Journey for Good Foundation also supports related efforts in workforce development, education and training, and services for veterans and their families in the U.S. and Canada.

Nonprofits and other qualified entities in California can seek support to expand nutrition incentives for WIC and senior shoppers purchasing California-grown fresh fruits and vegetables at certified farmers’ markets. With a mission to strengthen local food access, California Department of Food & Agriculture provides funding for incentive matching, outreach, and technical assistance, prioritizing low-income, low-access communities facing diet-related diseases.

The John Muir Community Health Fund (CHF) Grant focuses on enhancing health care access for underserved populations in Central and East Contra Costa County. As part of John Muir Health's commitment to improving community well-being, the CHF provides financial support to nonprofit organizations addressing critical health needs. By fostering innovative health initiatives and filling service gaps, the grant aims to create lasting health improvements and ensure equitable care for vulnerable groups.

The Rocky Mountain Health Foundation's Simple Gifts Fund supports organizations focused on community health, including coalitions, gardens, language justice, peer support, and respite care. Grants of up to $15,000 are available, emphasizing a streamlined application process and minimal reporting requirements. Funded by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Caring Foundation, these grants focus on whole-person health, emphasizing behavioral health and social determinants of health. Eligible organizations can receive up to $10,000 to implement projects that promote healthier lifestyles and address critical health issues, ensuring a lasting impact in local communities.

By investing in transformative initiatives and community leaders, the foundation aims to create a lasting positive impact, ensuring equitable access to resources and fostering holistic growth in underserved areas.

The Chartercare Wellness/Obesity Prevention/Nutrition Education Grant supports health initiatives in Rhode Island, offering up to $25,000 for programs aimed at enhancing wellness, nutrition education, and obesity prevention, particularly for disadvantaged groups. Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofits in good standing. Proposals should detail program scope, patient impact, care improvement strategies, timely access to services, and outcome tracking methods. Preference is given to innovative solutions addressing critical needs.
