Scholarships

The DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture is proud to offer numerous scholarships for high school seniors and college students. Preference will be given to applicants of Farm Bureau members or their children with certain eligibility requirements.

High School Senior Scholarship

The DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation endeavors to recognize students for their academic, school and community performance while in high school. The recognition is in the form of a scholarship to the student’s college of choice. 

James M. Johnson Ag Scholarship

The Johnson family established this scholarship in memory of James, farmer and veteran, in 2024. This scholarship is for a graduating High School senior within DeKalb County, who must also be a member of the FFA or a 4-H Club. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to study agriculture or the trades.

The Exhibitions Abroad Support Grant Program, initiated by the Japan Foundation in New York, offers financial aid to U.S. museums and art institutions organizing exhibitions that showcase Japanese art and culture internationally. This program supports a range of events, including biennials and triennials featuring Japanese artists. Eligible applicants are non-profit organizations from designated states, with a focus on promoting cultural exchange and understanding through art.

The Arnold Fields Community Endowed Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, provides a $1,000 award to a deserving high school senior from Hampton County. Eligible applicants must be graduating from one of the specified high schools with a minimum GPA of 2.25 and plan to pursue further education at a college or university. This scholarship aims to support local students in achieving their educational goals.

The David W. McCoy Scholarship, established by David W. McCoy in 2021, supports qualified students from Troy Buchanan High School pursuing undergraduate degrees in STEM fields. Administered by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, this scholarship aims to empower the next generation of leaders by providing essential financial resources. Eligible applicants must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to their education, ensuring that deserving students have the opportunity to thrive in higher education.

The Delesky-Wetmore Scholarship, established in October 2025 by Cathy Delesky and Doug Wetmore through the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, aims to support high school seniors in Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, or Colleton Counties, South Carolina. This scholarship focuses on students with financial need pursuing a four-year degree in STEM, finance, or economics, requiring a minimum GPA of 3.5 and above-average ACT or SAT scores.

The Dunkirk Community Funds: Marilee & Gayle Gaunt Scholarship, established in 2007 by The Dunkirk Foundation, honors the memory of Betty L. Gaunt's daughters, Marilee and Gayle, who tragically passed away in 1966. This scholarship aims to support residents of Dunkirk, IN, or those living within two miles of its boundary, by providing financial assistance for educational and vocational training at post-secondary institutions.

The Jennifer Thoma Memorial Ballet Scholarship, offered by the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation, aims to support dancers pursuing summer intensive training programs. This scholarship is available to high school seniors, undergraduates, and returning students, fostering growth in both education and the arts. By providing essential funding, the foundation encourages the development of dance skills, ensuring that aspiring dancers can reach their full potential while contributing to the vibrant cultural landscape of San Luis Obispo County.

The John and Barbara Wolcott Memorial Scholarship, offered by the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation, supports public high school students in San Luis Obispo County pursuing post-secondary education. The John and Yvonne Hsu Edmisten Scholarship honors Allan Voight M.D. and supports graduating seniors from Lucia Mar Unified School District or graduate students with a minimum GPA of 2.9. Offered by the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation, this scholarship aims to empower local students to achieve their educational and career aspirations. The SOT Undergraduate Research Award supports outstanding undergraduate students presenting original toxicology research at the SOT Annual Meeting. Awardees receive recognition, complimentary registration, lodging, and travel funding up to $800. This award encourages students to pursue graduate studies in toxicology or related fields and includes mentorship opportunities during the meeting, fostering their academic and professional growth.

The Climate Smart Communities Initiative (CSCI) Grant supports US-based projects aimed at enhancing community resilience against climate change. With a budget of $1.5-2 million, grants typically range from $75,000 to $115,000. CSCI prioritizes projects that focus on historically disinvested populations facing climate vulnerabilities, emphasizing equity, nature-based solutions, and community capacity building. The initiative encourages collaboration between climate adaptation practitioners and local government entities to address climate impacts effectively.

The AABCF Research Grants, offered by the American Association of Birth Centers Foundation, provide funding up to $5,000 for research projects focused on the birth center model of care. Open to individuals and organizations, these grants aim to enhance knowledge and practices in maternity and women's health care. Projects must demonstrate a clear plan and ability to complete the research on schedule, ensuring impactful contributions to the field.

This scholarship is in memory of Dr. Julian Crocker, former Superintendent of San Luis Obispo County Schools and longtime educator. Scholarship awards support student pursuing community.

The Justin McCutcheon Memorial Scholarship, offered by the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation, honors the memory of Justin McCutcheon by supporting high school seniors who are members of a Central Coast Athletic Association Golf Team. This scholarship aims to empower students in San Luis Obispo County to pursue their educational and career aspirations. The College Life Protected Graduate Research Grant supports research that enhances the value of higher education. Focused on systemic risks, it invites proposals on topics like mental health's impact on student success, campus safety compliance, and the effects of medical withdrawals. The Maureen 'Mo' Clancy Memorial Scholarship supports female students from San Luis Obispo County who have participated in cross country or track and field during high school and are pursuing post-secondary education. School Bus Road Scholarship Fund

The School Bus Road Scholarship Fund was established in 2023 by the Louisa County, VA Chapter of the NAACP. The purpose of the scholarship is to support postsecondary educational scholarships for qualifying graduates of Louisa County Public High School. and any future high schools built by Louisa County Public Schools in Louisa County, VA, attending an accredited two or four-year community college, techical or vocation school, college or university in the United States.

Scholarships

The Community Foundation of the North State manages many scholarship funds that are awarded to graduating high school seniors as well as students already in an undergraduate program. Some scholarships were started by families or individuals; others by businesses or organizations. All scholarships share one important focus: helping young people reach their educational goals.

Dr. Donald and Ann Gleason Memorial Scholarship

Provides scholarships for qualified Shasta County students with financial needs seeking a college education in the medical field.

Dr. and Mrs. Gleason had no heirs but still had a strong desire to help students with a financial need who were seeking a degree in the medical field. The Dr. Donald and Ann Gleason Memorial Scholarship will assist those pursuing an education in mental health, psychiatry, or pre-med studies.

The Bernick Family Trades Scholarship, offered by CommunityGiving, aims to support high school seniors pursuing advanced education in technical or community college programs. Ten scholarships of $1,500 each are available. Eligible applicants must live in the Bernick Service Area and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference is given to students in fields related to the Bernick business, such as Mechanics, Transportation, and Accounting. This initiative seeks to empower local youth and foster community growth.
