The Costume Society of America (CSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded on March 23, 1973, and incorporated in the state of New York on September 12, 1973. CSA serves it members, and promotes its goals with national symposia and publications including the journal Dress and its monthly electronic newsletter CSA e-News.

The organization began forming regional groups in 1978. There are six regional groups in the United States and Canada, and one international group. Individual regions hold annual meetings, sponsor programs and publish newsletters.

The Costume Society of America fosters an understanding of appearance and dress practices of people across the globe through research, education, preservation, and design. Our network of members studies the past, examines the present, and anticipates the future of clothing and fashion.

Midwest Region Student Travel Award

Each year, CSA travel funding in an amount up to $750 is available for a Midwest Region Student Member to present at the National Symposium of The Costume Society of America. Awards may be distributed among multiple student members.

The James M. Cox Foundation Grant offers support to nonprofit organizations focused on conservation, early childhood education, family empowerment, and health. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt and located in areas where Cox Enterprises operates. Grant applications are accepted year-round, with deadlines before Trustee meetings. Preference is given to organizations with a history of local engagement. This foundation embodies the philanthropic spirit of its founder, James M. Cox, by giving back to the community.

About the DNR

Preserving and enhancing the natural resources of Wisconsin

In keeping with our mission, the DNR is dedicated to working with Wisconsinites while preserving and enhancing the natural resources of Wisconsin. In partnership with individuals and organizations, DNR staff manage fish, wildlife, forests, parks, air and water resources while promoting a healthy, sustainable environment and a full range of outdoor opportunities.

Healthy Lakes & Rivers Grants

Healthy Lakes & Rivers grants provide funding to qualified organizations to help facilitate the installation of practices on public or private property to improve habitat and water quality. They support five simple and inexpensive best practices including fish sticks, native plantings, diversions, rock infiltrations, and rain gardens. Practices must follow department guidelines published in the Healthy Lakes and Rivers Action Plan and supporting technical guidance. The Dr. Harry J. Heeb Foundation Grant supports underprivileged and abused children, providing medical attention for related disabilities in the fields of eye, ear, nose, and throat health. It also funds education and training for healthcare providers and nurses. Operating primarily in Florida and Wisconsin, the foundation seeks to improve the lives of those in need through both direct support and research. Grants typically range from $2,500 to $20,000.

The Physician and Advanced Practice Clinician Fellowship Program at Aspirus Wausau Hospital offers a 12-month, full-time opportunity for recent family medicine graduates and practicing physicians. This program aims to enhance skills in hospital medicine, with flexible start dates and two fellowship spots available annually. Aspirus Health, a nonprofit health system in Wisconsin, operates multiple facilities and employs a large team of healthcare professionals, ensuring comprehensive training and support for fellows.

The Elam Baer and Janis Clay Epilepsy Scholarship, administered by Scholarship America, aims to eliminate financial barriers for students with epilepsy. This scholarship is open to residents of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, or Iowa, who are high school seniors or current college students. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and plan to enroll in accredited institutions. The program reflects a commitment to accessibility and support for underrepresented students.

The Recreational Trails Program provides funds to develop and maintain recreational trails and trail-related facilities for both motorized and non-motorized recreational trail uses. RTP grants are to be used on trail projects that further a specific goal or are included in the State Comprehensive Recreation Plan (SCORP) or a local plan referenced in the SCORP.

The Amy Kerwin-Kobishop Accounting Scholarship, administered by Scholarship America Inc, supports high school seniors and current college students pursuing full-time undergraduate studies in Accounting or Finance at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse during the 2026-2027 academic year. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. This scholarship aims to reduce financial barriers to education, promoting academic success for underrepresented and underserved students.

The Express Health Information Outreach Awards aim to enhance public health by increasing access to biomedical information for U.S. health professionals and the general public. These awards support projects that improve health information literacy among consumers and caregivers, ensuring they can effectively find and utilize health information. Focused on partnerships and outreach to underrepresented communities, the initiative seeks to promote healthy behaviors, prevent illness, and improve health outcomes through informed decision-making.

The MRC/SOT Young Investigator Award, presented by the Society of Toxicology, recognizes outstanding undergraduate and graduate research proposals at the MRC/SOT Spring meeting. Eligible students submit proposals alongside a reference letter. Awardees present their research at the Annual Meeting and receive funding to support their educational endeavors in toxicology, including travel to conferences and research-related expenses. This initiative promotes educational growth and scientific advancement in the field of toxicology.

The RMEF Grant Program lies at the core of advancing our mission.

RMEF established the program in 1986 to provide financial and logistical support to projects that align with our priorities and goals. Grant funds raised by RMEF members, volunteers and generous donors from across the country translate into significantly more conservation accomplishment when matched with partner funds. The RMEF Grant Program also aims to build recognition for RMEF’s work, grow engagement, and boost local fundraising efforts.

Governed by clear guidelines and criteria, the RMEF Grant Program seeks to foster meaningful collaborations and long-term impacts in the conservation of natural resources and outdoor traditions. Grant project partners include federal, state, local, and tribal wildlife and land management agencies, private landowners and local stakeholders, sportsmen and women, and conservation organizations, universities, foundations and the outdoor industry. Eligible projects primarily focus on habitat stewardship, land conservation and access, wildlife management, and hunting heritage.

We support organizations recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501(c)3 entity, federal, state, local, or tribal government entities, sportsmen’s organizations, or educational institutions. All applicants must have a Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) issued by the IRS. RMEF does not offer grants to individuals.

Land Conservation and Access

RMEF conserves critical big game habitat and migration corridors, while expanding and improving public access, including through land acquisitions and voluntary conservation agreements. RMEF's

2026 priorities include:

• Conserving migratory corridors and connecting landscapes through land conservation efforts
• Creating new or improved public access through access easements and agreements and state-run access programs

The Green Bay Packers Foundation, established in 1986, supports Wisconsin charities that promote family values, athletics, and welfare. Eligible organizations can apply for grants addressing specific focus areas, including animal welfare and education, during the 2026-2029 cycle. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) entities with a valid IRS Tax ID, ensuring they meet community needs effectively. The Foundation prioritizes impactful projects that align with its mission of enhancing community well-being and preventing cruelty to animals.

The Kohler Foundation Grant focuses on preserving art environments and cultural heritage in Wisconsin and beyond. Grants up to $10,000 support innovative projects by tax-exempt public charities and institutions. With a preference for Sheboygan County, the Foundation encourages STEAM initiatives and programs enhancing access to the arts. Recent preservation efforts include notable sites like the Garden of Eden sculpture park and Pasaquan. The Foundation believes in impactful investments that foster lasting community benefits.

The Wispact Foundation Grant, established in 2021, aims to improve the lives of persons with disabilities in Wisconsin. Managed by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, it provides grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofits addressing critical areas such as housing, assistive devices, and inclusive education. The foundation prioritizes proposals that enhance living conditions and accessibility, while excluding capital campaigns and retroactive funding. This initiative fosters community impact and supports organizations dedicated to disability services.

RBC Foundation – USA aims to enhance community quality of life by supporting non-profit organizations that promote diversity and positive change. In 2023, it awarded over $2.8 million in grants, prioritizing youth programs for ages 15-29, arts access for diverse populations, and mental well-being initiatives. The foundation encourages sustainable projects that foster economic independence, providing critical support for education, mental health, and cultural enrichment, thereby making a significant impact across various communities.

The Open Fund Grant supports innovative visual artist projects that are experimental and community-oriented. Administered by The Poor Farm and The Open, it offers funding of $5,000 to $10,000 for initiatives based in Milwaukee County. Eligible projects must be artist-organized, publicly accessible, and primarily focused on the visual arts. The grant prioritizes collaboration and aims to enhance public engagement through unique artistic expressions, fostering creativity within diverse communities.

The WI Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) supports sustainable agricultural practices by protecting eligible lands from nonagricultural use. It focuses on preserving grazing lands and restoring wetlands, ensuring agricultural viability and conserving natural resources. ACEP features two main components: Agricultural Land Easements (ALE) and Wetland Reserve Easements (WRE), which aid landowners in safeguarding productive lands and enhancing wildlife habitats. This program encourages year-round applications, fostering long-term environmental stewardship.

The MRC/SOT Early Career Toxicologist Award, presented by the Society of Toxicology, recognizes an outstanding Midwest toxicologist with up to 10 years of experience. This prestigious award honors candidates actively contributing to the field or recently retired, showcasing their unique research achievements and teaching proficiency. Winners receive an engraved plaque and an honorarium, celebrating their commitment to advancing toxicology and enhancing human, animal, and environmental health.

The Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame Scholarships, including the Jeff Baum Aviation Business & Jim Quinn Flight School Scholarship, provide essential financial support to Wisconsin residents pursuing careers in aviation or aerospace. With over $300,000 awarded annually, these scholarships empower students from diverse educational backgrounds to achieve their goals. Established to honor aviation leaders, these scholarships not only aid in education but also promote community engagement and excellence in the aviation field.

The CHS Foundation's Ag Leadership Grant aims to enhance agricultural leadership and cooperative education. This program supports projects that cultivate a diverse pipeline for future agricultural leaders, focusing on education and career training for high school students to young professionals. Priority is given to initiatives that impact multiple states within the CHS trade area, thereby fostering a deeper understanding of the cooperative business model in agriculture.

The CHS Foundation's Cooperative Education Grant aims to support educational projects that enhance understanding of the agricultural cooperative business model. With a focus on middle school to college-age students, the program encourages innovative approaches, measurable outcomes, and engagement strategies. It prioritizes initiatives with a national or state-level reach within the CHS trade area, fostering success and growth in cooperative education. Funding will be allocated to programs that align with these goals, ensuring a robust educational framework for future leaders in agriculture.

The Carl Guell Memorial Scholarship, established in 2002, supports Wisconsin residents pursuing careers in aviation or aerospace. This scholarship awards $1,000 annually to a dedicated student, reflecting the mission of the Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame to enhance community quality of life through education. Eligible applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrate passion for the field, and be active in their communities. Over $300,000 in scholarships supports students from preschool to post-graduate levels.

The Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame Scholarships, including the Robert Payzer Memorial/EAA Chapter 640 Scholarship, aim to support Wisconsin residents pursuing careers in aviation or aerospace. With over $300,000 in scholarships awarded annually, this program encourages applicants with a minimum 3.0 GPA who demonstrate passion and community involvement. The Robert Payzer Memorial Scholarship, established in 2013, honors a dedicated EAA chapter member, providing $1,000 to deserving students in the field.

The Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame Scholarships, including the Thiessen Field Scholarship, aim to support Wisconsin residents pursuing careers in aviation or aerospace. Established in 2005 by Jerome Thiessen, these scholarships total over $300,000 annually, benefiting more than 200 students. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, a passion for aviation, and be enrolled in an aviation program in Wisconsin. The scholarships encourage students with lower GPAs or financial challenges to apply.

The Fred C. & Katherine B. Andersen Foundation Grant focuses on enhancing the quality of life in the St. Croix Valley of Minnesota and Wisconsin. It supports 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with priorities in healthcare, education, housing, human services, civic initiatives, and environmental education. While capital requests may be considered, the foundation primarily funds operational and programmatic needs. Organizations outside the geographic area may be considered if they align with the foundation's funding priorities.

The Sidney & Ruth Julson Scholarship, established in 2023, honors the legacy of the Julsons, former owners of Four Lakes Aviation. This scholarship provides a $2,000 annual award to Wisconsin residents pursuing education and careers in aviation or aerospace. Eligible students must be enrolled in specific flight school programs at Madison Area Technical College, or in Buffalo or Sheridan, WY. This initiative supports the future of aviation by investing in the education of aspiring pilots and aviation professionals.

The William K. Gottschalk Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, supports second-year or higher students at UWSP at Wausau or Northcentral Technical College pursuing degrees in accounting or engineering. Over 200 scholarships are awarded annually, totaling more than $300,000. Applicants must be Wisconsin residents with a strong commitment to their chosen field and plan to attend NTC or UWSP for at least two years.
