The Robinson Crowell & Rotary Club of Sacramento Foundation Annual Scholarships support local high school seniors from C.K. McClatchy, Sacramento Charter, and West Campus High Schools. Each school awards two scholarships, with amounts of $2500 and $1750, respectively. These scholarships promote higher education and embody the Rotary spirit of service. Candidates must be academically strong and committed to full-time undergraduate studies, while ensuring no familial ties to Rotarians.

The Thomases Family Endowment, established by Irwin Thomases, aims to uphold his philanthropic values by supporting organizations serving the Jewish and secular communities. Rob’s Hauling & Vance Family Scholarship

The Rob’s Hauling & Vance Family Scholarship Fund was created in 2019 by James and Lyndsey Vance. The Vance family places a priority on and a commitment to protecting, preserving, conserving, and sustaining the environment. Their scholarship gives special consideration to applicants who are pursuing an education in Ecology, Natural Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Renewable Energy Engineering, Sustainability Management, Urban Planning and Sustainability, Climate Science, Conservation Science, Conservation Biology, or Environmental Health and Economics. Consideration is also given to students studying Agricultural Engineering, Agriculture Production, Animal Science, Food Sciences and Technologies, Horticulture, Plant Science, Soil Science, and related fields.

Recipients may be a graduate or senior from any school located in Marion County who have been a resident of the area for their entire high school career and maintained a grade point average of 3.0 or greater.

The Clarence Lee Lester Educational Fund, administered by the Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia, provides scholarships to deserving students pursuing higher education. Eligible applicants must be graduating seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA and a connection to First Baptist Church in Martinsville, VA. This scholarship aims to support capable individuals in their academic journeys, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their educational aspirations. Since awarding our first $500 scholarship in 1987, the Saginaw Community Foundation has awarded college scholarships to area students totaling more than $13.7 million, thanks to our generous donors. Each year, over 500 college-bound or career and technical education students benefit from our scholarship awards.

Medical Scholarship

At a very early age in Alabama, Lee Essie Smith was a self-taught musician. After losing her mother as a young teenager, she began putting her God-given musical talent to work as a pianist for several churches. By the time she graduated from high school, she had learned the cosmetology trade and met Charlie McMillan, Jr.

After his wife’s death, Mr. McMillan continued his community service with the Democratic Party, Habitat for Humanity and Mt. Olive Baptist Church as an usher. Although he did not serve very long in the military, Mr. McMillan continues to exemplify the values and physical energy of the “Army Strong” slogan. He is the patriarch of the family – always dapper – and a regular attendee at church services.

The Crown Point Community Foundation Scholarships support graduating high school seniors, college students, and adult learners from Crown Point, Winfield, Cedar Lake, or Lowell. With over 80 scholarship funds established by local donors, the foundation ensures financial assistance is tailored to community needs. Eligible applicants may attend colleges, universities, or vocational schools, but the scholarships are non-renewable. This initiative enriches the quality of life in South Lake County by maximizing charitable giving.

The Tulsa Achievement Investment Scholarship of Kappa Alpha Psi, established by the Tulsa Community Foundation, supports collegiate members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. This scholarship targets students who graduated from Tulsa County high schools and plan to attend accredited colleges in the U.S. Founded in 1998, TCF is dedicated to enhancing community welfare through philanthropic efforts, investing in educational opportunities to foster growth and development in Tulsa and beyond.

The Charles and Marjorie Quickle Scholarship, administered by the Crown Point Community Foundation, supports South Lake County residents pursuing degrees in divinity, theology, or religious ministry. The Etta Gray Memorial Scholarship Program, established by the United Negro College Fund, aims to support students from Upstate South Carolina pursuing technical certification. This initiative honors Etta Gray's legacy and assists financially disadvantaged individuals by facilitating access to education at local technical colleges. Eligible applicants must maintain a 2.5 GPA, enroll full-time, and complete the FAFSA to demonstrate financial need. The Terry Hessong Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Tulsa Community Foundation, supports students graduating from high school in Nowata County, Oklahoma. This non-renewable scholarship is designed for college students and adult learners, providing financial assistance to help meet various educational needs. The foundation manages over 80 scholarship funds, tailoring support to the specific criteria set by generous donors, thereby enriching the quality of life in South Lake County.

The Joyce Bright Scholarship Award, established by the Tulsa Community Foundation in 1998, aims to provide financial assistance for higher education to deserving students. Eligible applicants are high school graduates from Tulsa County, Oklahoma, who have demonstrated academic excellence by ranking in the top 3% of their class. This scholarship reflects the Foundation's commitment to empowering local communities and supporting educational aspirations.

The CDC's NCIPC invites proposals for rigorous evaluations of programs aimed at preventing child sexual abuse (CSA) and problematic sexual behavior (PSB) among youth. This research aims to assess the effectiveness of prevention policies, especially in digital spaces and youth-serving organizations. Eligible proposals should address issues like online exploitation, harmful behaviors, and the impact of organizational policies on youth safety. The J.D. Fletcher Family Scholarship Award, established by the Tulsa Community Foundation in 1998, supports graduating seniors from Creek County, Oklahoma. Eligible applicants must plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university and pursue a bachelor's degree in science. This scholarship aims to foster education and empower local students to achieve their academic goals, contributing to a vibrant community and a brighter future.

Mildred Culbert Kelly & Fred W. Kelly Non-Traditional Student Scholarship

Mildred Culbert Kelly and Fred W. Kelly never had children, but they were generous with contributions of time and talent to church and community groups that focused on youngsters.

Prior to his death in 1989, Mr. Kelly had been employed as an insurance agent and later purchased the Wheeler Insurance Agency which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1977. He was a founding member and past president of the Optimist Club and he assisted in establishing Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Saginaw and the READ Saginaw program.

Mrs. Kelly retired from the Accounting Department at Chevrolet Saginaw Grey Iron Foundry after 39 years of service. She volunteered at First United Methodist Church as director of the Children’s Choir, the Interpretive Choir and the Sacred Dance Group for many years. She was also a volunteer at READ Saginaw and Delta College Channel 19 and was a past president of the Opti-Mrs. Club. She died in 2000 at the age of 94.

Mildred Culbert Kelly and Fred W. Kelly’s legacy continues to assist youth with scholarships for students who might not otherwise obtain a college or Career and Technical Education (CTE) degree/certificate.

The Gerber Foundation offers grants for pediatric research focusing on environmental hazards that affect infants and young children. The foundation seeks projects that provide innovative solutions to health and nutritional challenges faced by this vulnerable population. Grant applications are encouraged from organizations recognized as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3), with an emphasis on research that produces new information to improve practices in infant care and development.

The Davis B. and Barbara J. Francis Scholarship Fund, established by the Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia, provides educational scholarships to deserving students in the Roanoke Valley. It aims to support graduating seniors or former graduates pursuing careers in technical theatre or performing arts. Applicants must demonstrate significant contributions to their school's theatre arts program and enroll in an accredited college or technical school. Financial need is considered but not the primary criterion.

The Boesl-Gentry Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, aims to support graduating high school seniors from specific schools pursuing studies in Ministry or related fields. This $1,200 scholarship requires an essay and a letter of recommendation. Eligible students must apply to accredited post-secondary institutions and provide transcripts. The foundation is committed to enhancing community quality of life through various initiatives, underscoring values of integrity, respect, leadership, and vision.

The Chris Bell Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, provides a $3,000 scholarship for graduating high school seniors from Springfield public schools. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.8 or higher and an ACT score of 26 or above, along with a transcript. A compelling essay and a letter of recommendation are also required. This scholarship aims to support students pursuing higher education at accredited four-year colleges or universities.

The Dillon Family Scholarship Fund, established by James M. Dillon, provides financial assistance for higher education to deserving students from specific regions in Virginia. Administered by the Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia, this scholarship supports students who demonstrate financial need and academic potential. Eligible candidates must be graduating seniors from designated public high schools, enrolling in accredited colleges or trade schools. Preference is given to graduates from Alleghany High School, ensuring targeted support for local students.

The Carol & Joseph Tafelski Memorial Scholarship, awarded by the Erie Community Foundation, supports Erie High School students pursuing degrees in healthcare or medical research. With a total of over $800,000 in scholarships given in 2023, applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.25 and be accepted into an accredited four-year college or university. This initiative aims to empower students to achieve their educational goals and contribute positively to the community.
