The Grand Haven Offshore Challenge Scholarship, offered by the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation, supports students pursuing studies in natural resources, including fisheries and wildlife. This scholarship is available for applicants attending any public or private college or university. Each year, the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF) awards state and federal funding to public and private organizations that address its priority issues through a formal application process.

Partnerships for Success (PFS)

With the implementation of the five-step Strategic Prevention Framework from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the GOYFF has partnered with organizations across the state to provide trauma-informed and culturally competent substance abuse prevention programming that aims to decrease marijuana and underage drinking misuse and abuse by current or former foster youth ages 9-20 and their caregivers.

The Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) Partnerships for Success (PFS) grant is distributed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF) in partnership with the Arizona State University College of Health Solutions. Using the Strategic Prevention Framework, approximately $1.2 million annually will work to enhance protective factors and reduce risk factors for substance misuse in youth and young adults by implementing the Arizona Prevention and Well-being Improvement Collaborative (PWIC). 

Based on the results of a community health assessment, the PWIC will bring together 27 organizations focused on preventing substance use and increasing mental well-being among youth and young adults from underserved minority groups to participate in a five-year collaborative. During this time, organizations will access expert education, tailored technical assistance, an online training certificate program, and quality improvement support through a peer-led model where organizations teach one another how they learned to adopt an evidence-based program or improve an existing one.

The PWIC will be the first collaborative in Arizona to promote evidence-based substance use prevention through peer learning and quality improvement support. Additionally, the PWIC will establish relationships between community organizations, promoting community cohesion and empowering participants to adopt evidence-based practice.

The specific goals of the Arizona Prevention and Well-being Improvement Collaborative:

• Determine prevention and well-being gaps between current conditions in Arizona and desired conditions.
• Recruit Arizona community organizations serving youth and young adults.
• Increase awareness of substance use prevention and mental well-being in Arizona communities.
• Provide training and technical assistance to community organizations on substance use prevention and mental well-being.
• Develop and implement evidence-based prevention and mental health promotion programs.

With grants ranging from $25,000 to $150,000, the program focuses on offering joy and distraction, helping young patients cope with their hospital stays while facilitating connections with peers.

Entergy’s Open Grants Program aims to enhance community well-being through funding initiatives in arts, education, social services, and community improvement. The program prioritizes support for organizations that serve diverse populations, including children and low-income communities. Eligible entities must have 501(c)(3) status or equivalent nonprofit recognition. Applications should be submitted three months in advance, allowing ample time for review. Entergy focuses on projects that foster self-sufficiency and enrich local neighborhoods.

The Ball Foundation Skilled Trades SkillPointe Scholarship offers $2,500 for educational or training programs in Arizona and Oregon, addressing the skills gap in America. With a mission to upskill workers without requiring a four-year degree, the program has funded over 1,000 scholarships nationwide, resulting in a 95% training completion rate and a median income increase of $32,000 in the first year post-training. This initiative empowers individuals and strengthens the economy.

The Department of the Interior's Wildland Fire Service Joint Fire Science Program (JFSP) invites proposals for the FLAMES award, aimed at master and doctoral students in wildland fire studies. This initiative enhances research relevance by connecting students with fire management practices, providing experiential learning opportunities, and fostering mentorship. Students will gain valuable insights into management and policy, preparing them for impactful careers in fire science. The program emphasizes peer-learning and professional development in the context of wildland fire management.

Established in 2001, this family foundation prioritizes innovative projects and general operating support for small organizations facing financial constraints. Note that applicants must first submit a letter of inquiry, as the foundation does not fund scholarships or grants to individuals or religious organizations, nor does it support organizations outside the U.S.

The Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Fund provides essential support for trail management and signage projects across Arizona. Established in 1991, the fund allocates approximately $2 million annually, funded by a percentage of motor vehicle fuel taxes. Grants of up to $10,000 are available to eligible governmental entities and non-profits for purchasing and installing trail markers and informational kiosks. This initiative enhances outdoor recreation while promoting responsible OHV use and environmental stewardship.

The Call for Kindness Grant, offered by Riley's Way Foundation, empowers young leaders aged 13-23 to launch impactful social projects focused on kindness and community connection. Project Lead The Way is offering a rolling grant opportunity for schools across the US to implement the PLTW Gateway program for the first time. With total funding of $9,100, the grant covers participation fees and training registration costs. Schools, including public, private, and charter, are encouraged to apply, particularly those serving low-income and minority majority populations. State Grants-in-Aid (SGIA)

What is SGIA?

In 1981, the Arizona legislature developed State Grants-in-Aid (SGIA) to help Arizona libraries meet the information needs of Arizona residents. SGIA provides construction funding to public libraries, and annual awards to county libraries and to municipal libraries in cities with populations of 100,000 or more.

Public libraries meeting the qualifications outlined on this page may apply for construction funds. State Grants-in-Aid Construction funds are awarded on a reimbursement basis through a competitive process, and require a dollar-for-dollar local cash match.

The Park Foundation Grants for Animal Welfare focus on advancing the protection and conservation of wildlife, particularly through policy and advocacy efforts for threatened species. The foundation supports innovative, solution-oriented models that foster systemic change and compassion. Key areas include organizing for endangered wildlife, indigenous management practices, and supporting sanctuaries for great apes.
