Eligible projects include health and wellness, education and development, diversity and inclusion, arts programming, veterans’ services, and first responder support.

Nonprofit or partner organizations supporting veterans and first responders with wellness, rehabilitation, and recovery programs in Georgia can apply for the Gridiron Veterans Scholarship, which funds mental health, physical therapy, and holistic wellness services. With a mission to empower women’s collective giving, Impact100 Global Veterans provides large project grants; Georgia organizations focused on wellness and healthy living for veterans may be strong candidates.

Georgia nonprofits, schools, and government agencies hosting health and wellness events can access funding through Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation’s Thriving Community Impact Fund for sponsorships, local memberships, and community engagement. Eligible projects promote physical, mental, and social well-being, address poverty and economic stability, or improve neighborhood environments; applications must be submitted 12 weeks before the event.

U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofits running neuroscience-related health and wellness programs, including those serving Georgia, can apply for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine’s Therapeutic Giving support to improve patient access, equity, and frontline care. Nonprofits running nature-based health and wellness programs for veterans, including those in Georgia, can apply for funding from the National Environmental Education Foundation. Focused on wellness and healthy living, this grant offers up to US $10,000 for projects on public lands that improve veterans’ physical and mental health and foster community connection.

Since 2004, Joyful Heart has been a leading national organization with a mission to transform society’s response to sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse by building a world that prioritizes survivors’ healing.

Our Areas of Focus

We continue to carry out our mission through programming centered on survivors’ needs. We strive to fill gaps where those needs aren’t being met, without duplicating existing programs. Heal the Healers Grant 

Helping alleviate the effects of secondary trauma for the long-term wellbeing of professionals who support survivors

Building for a System of Care and Compassion

Heal the Healers Grantmaking Program provides critical support for professionals who help survivors heal and seek justice. People working on the frontlines of survivor-centered services are subject to the often overlooked effects of secondary trauma that can emerge as a result of continuous exposure to people who have recently experienced abuse and violence.

The Heal the Healers Grant Fund and Grantee Learning Cohorts provide resources to mitigate the effects of secondary trauma among the practitioners responsible for the earliest stages of survivors’ paths to justice and healing. Creating a safer, more compassionate world for the people who do this work helps lay a foundation for lasting change and a world where every survivor’s healing is prioritized.

The Heal the Healers Fund provides micro-grants of up to $5,000 to nonprofit, Tribal, or governmental organizations supporting survivors for training, small capital projects, or organizational activities.

Areas of Support

The Joyful Heart Foundation has established the following guidelines for its Heal the Healers Fund grants to support those working directly with survivors in the following areas.

• Training and/or program development on self-care practices such as training in trauma-informed yoga, breathwork, somatic therapy, etc.
• Small capital items and equipment that specifically allow staff and volunteers to address their self care needs such as daylight lamps for staff or new furniture for a break room.
• Staff activities to build and support connections between colleagues such as, trust building experiences, monthly pizza nights, or bagel Fridays.
• Or any combination of the above. 

In addition to the financial support, grantees will also be invited to join a peer learning community cohort that includes:

• Opportunities to amplify their fellowship/cohort experiences to inspire others in the field
• Virtual peer-to-peer networking opportunities
• Virtual training/presentations by leading healers, therapists and other professionals with expertise in cutting edge vicarious trauma, empowerment, leadership and therapeutic modalities

Advancing Well-Being in the Arts Arts and Economic Mobility

As a part of its Advancing Well-Being in the Arts initiative’s Field Studies program, Wallace is interested in funding a small set of research studies that investigate aspects of how community-based arts organizations contribute to the economic mobility of their communities. “Communities” may include organizational staff, artists, audiences, program participants, local constituents served, and/or others as defined in proposals.

For this RFP, we broadly define and understand economic mobility, and pathways to economic mobility, as emerging through access to training and preparation, expanded social and professional networks, high quality jobs, as well as to basic needs such as safe neighborhoods, housing, health care, and food. However, we are eager to learn, through the studies to be funded, how arts organizations themselves conceptualize, define, and support economic mobility in their communities.

To that end, we invite letters of interest for studies related to the arts and economic mobility that would be of use and benefit to community-based arts organizations by, for example:

• Producing compelling new evidence, including quantitative indicators, of impact on the economic mobility of particular community groups (e.g., working artists, local families, staff, et al.);
• Generating new tools that can measure impact of arts organizations on economic mobility, including those that use quantitative approaches and methods;
• Developing testable theories of the relationship between arts organizations and economic mobility;
• Other ideas, to be proposed by the field.
