  • Survey and characterize dissolved organic nitrogen and phosphorus (DON/DOP) concentrations and speciation across North American wastewater facilities, including but not limited to influent, secondary effluent, tertiary effluent, digester supernatant, thermal hydrolysis process (THP) centrate, autothermal thermophilic digestion (ATAD) sidestreams, and dewatering recycle streams.
  • Understand the dynamics of DON/DOP in effluent, including quantifying the bioavailable fraction of DON/DOP in different relevant process streams, evaluating their transformation into nitrogenous disinfection by-product (N-DBP) precursors, determining bio-uptake rates representative of receiving water conditions, and measuring the timescale for biodegradation in receiving waters.

The PSC is currently responsible for regulating more than 1,100 Wisconsin public utilities, which provide electric, natural gas, combined water and sewer utilities and certain aspects of local telephone service to households and businesses throughout the state.

Telemedicine Equipment Grant

The Medical Telecommunications Equipment Program (known as Telemedicine Equipment Grant) is a 2-year grant program under the Universal Service Fund that enables non-profit medical clinics or public health agencies – including Tribal Health-related agencies – to apply for funding to purchase medical telecommunications equipment (Wis. Admin. Code § PSC 160.115). 

Funds are awarded to eligible applicants for the purchase of medical telecommunications equipment that 1) will promote technologically advanced medical services; 2) directly or indirectly enhance access to medical care in rural or underserved areas of the state (as identified by 42 USC § 254e(a)(1)1); and 3) serve underserved populations or persons with disabilities.
