Creative & Performing Arts

The Pincus Family Foundation’s Creative and Performing Arts portfolio supports programs where young people use art as a tool to address the structural inequities they face. Five strategic priorities:

• Arts for Social Change Focus – Integrating artistic practice with community organizing, policy advocacy, and/or systemic change efforts

Target Constituency: Organizations serving preK-12 youth from marginalized communities with arts for social change programming that connects them to the power of art to question and transform systems.

Education

High school readiness for many low-income students, largely is a result of poor preparation in middle school. PFF is funding programs/projects that support middle school engagement and focus on achievement filling a funding gap. 

Target Constituency: We support non-profit organizations serving middle school students who face gaps in comprehensive high school readiness. These organizations implement innovative programming that creates challenging yet nurturing environments—preparing students for achievement while inspiring them to become engaged, confident citizens ready to contribute to their communities.

Health & Wellness

Goal: Advance children’s health and well-being by supporting nonprofits that strengthen social conditions, empower youth, and build healthier environments in marginalized communities.

Target Constituency: Nonprofits whose work strengthens social determinants of health for children in marginalized communities.

Play & Recreation

Goal: Advance children’s social-emotional development and physical well-being by supporting nonprofits that create inclusive play-based programming, competitive sports opportunities, and outdoor recreational experiences in under-resourced communities.

Target Constituency: Non-profits whose work promotes access to quality recreational programming for children ages 6-18 in under-resourced communities.

For all grants, the organization’s mission and scope must align with the Foundation’s mission. For the latter, these grants can be either unrestricted or restricted to a particular program or project. The type of grant and what it is used for will dictate the goals and objectives to be met.

The New York Community Trust offers Technical Assistance Grants aimed at enhancing the management capacity of nonprofits in New York City. This program supports public charities and organizations with a focus on skill development and technical assistance. Eligible applicants include nonprofits that promote policy change and build organizational capacity. Grants are typically awarded for one year, with an emphasis on fostering collaboration and service improvements within the nonprofit sector.

The Westchester Community Foundation Grant Program offers competitive grants to public charities and groups providing programs in Westchester County. The foundation prioritizes initiatives in human justice, human services, workforce development, youth development, arts, social justice, and technical assistance. This support aims to enhance the lives of residents through diverse projects that address civil rights, economic stability, youth empowerment, and cultural access. Western New York Foundation

Small Grant Program

The Buffalo Bills Foundation and the Western New York Foundation are partnering to offer small grants to organizations working within our local and regional food system. Grants are available to support professional development, consultant support, specialty contract services, or certifications and accreditations that build an organization’s knowledge, skills, and leadership. 

Eligible Uses

Grant funds may be used for:

The Park and Trail Partnership Grant program is a $2.65 million capacity-building matching grants program funded through the NYS Environmental Protection Fund. The program is designed to:

• Enhance the preservation, stewardship, interpretation, accessibility, maintenance and promotion of New York’s state parks, trails, historic sites, and public lands.
• Increase the sustainability, effectiveness, diversity, productivity, and volunteer and fundraising capabilities of not-for-profit organizations that promote, maintain, and support New York’s state parks, trails, historic sites and public lands.
• Promote the tourism and economic development benefits of outdoor recreation through the growth and expansion of a connected statewide network of parks, trails, greenways and public lands. 

Eligible applicants must be registered nonprofits who have a formal memorandum or agreement with OPRHP or DEC.

Professional Development Grants support the hiring of permanent staff to advance organizations to a higher and sustainable level of professionalism, fiscal and administrative stability, and community outreach that in the future they will be able to sustain on their own. Professional Development Grants may be used to support:

• First Staff Hire: hiring the organization’s first permanent employee, full- or part-time.
• Additional Staff: hiring an additional full- or part-time permanent staff member to fill a critical administrative, outreach or development need, or other key function. Park and Trail Partnership Grants 5
• Upgrade to Full-time Staff: increasing a part-time Executive Director, or other key staff position to full time.
• Shared Staff: hiring a staff person to be shared by two or more eligible organizations.

Professional Development Grants are meant to support permanent increases in staffing capacity. If an organization is interested in hiring temporary contractors or staff to support the organization’s work, this request would fall under a Capacity and Organizational Effectiveness Grant or a Stewardship and Public Access Capacity grant.

A 20 percent cash match of the total project budget is required. Fifty percent of award will be disbursed at contract signing; remainder will be disbursed after submission of satisfactory one-year progress report.

The Watershed Association Professional Development Mini-Grants support staff and volunteers of watershed organizations in the Lake Champlain Basin. These grants cover costs for professional development activities aimed at enhancing water quality and organizational capacity. Eligible organizations include 501c3 nonprofits focused on water stewardship. Preference is given to those with previous LCBP contracts exceeding $4,000. Applications are accepted monthly, with awards announced shortly after deadlines.

Lewis County History Fund

The Northern New York Community Foundation is pleased to provide this funding opportunity to support projects that preserve historically significant resources, advance understanding of history through education and interpretation, and expand access to meaningful historical experiences for Lewis County residents.

The Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) offers Community Engagement Grants (CEG) to support high-quality arts projects that enrich the cultural landscape of The Bronx. Open to individual artists and nonprofit organizations, these grants foster cultural equity and community connection. Applications are encouraged from diverse artists, including those historically excluded. Since 1982, BCA has been dedicated to nurturing artists and building strong cultural ties within the borough.

The Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) provides Community Engagement Grants (CEG) to enhance cultural life by funding community-based arts projects across various disciplines. Since 1982, these grants have supported individual artists, artist collectives, and nonprofit organizations, promoting cultural equity and nurturing diverse artistic expressions. Applicants from historically excluded communities are especially encouraged to apply, fostering a rich cultural ecosystem in The Bronx while recognizing outstanding local talent.

The Asian Cultural Council (ACC) offers Organization Grants to arts and culture organizations in Asia and the U.S., promoting cultural exchange through travel and collaborative activities. These grants support immersive experiences, research, and access to artistic communities, fostering international dialogue and relationship-building. Organizations must be nonprofit or educational institutions, legally registered in eligible regions, and demonstrate a minimum of five years of relevant programming. ACC provides additional support to enhance project feasibility.

The Emerging Leaders Program by NYFA offers a year-long professional development opportunity for manager-level arts administrators in NYC. This program enhances leadership skills through workshops, peer-learning pods, and intensive retreats. Participants will engage in strategic career planning and receive support from experienced alumni. The program aims to empower arts leaders and is supported by The Willem de Kooning Foundation. It's open to those committed to their professional growth within the arts community.

The New York Peer Specialist Independent Practice Association (IPA) aims to enhance collaboration and professional development for the peer specialist workforce in New York. Funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health, the IPA will support organizations in identifying shared goals, staying informed on industry trends, and fostering strong relationships. An annual award of $485,000 is available for five years, with an additional $100,000 in the first year for startup costs.

The Statewide Community Re-grants Program for Arts Education, administered by CREATE Council on the Arts, offers funding between $1,500 and $3,000 for arts education projects in Greene, Columbia, and Schoharie Counties. This initiative aims to enhance local cultural resources by supporting individual artists and nonprofit organizations in collaborative projects that engage communities through artistic learning, particularly in schools and community-based settings.

The NYSCA - A.R.T./New York Creative Opportunity Fund, administered by the Bronx Council on the Arts, offers crucial operating support grants of $2,000-$5,000 to small professional theatres in New York State. Aimed at enhancing cultural equity, this program targets theatres with budgets under $500,000, enabling them to overcome barriers to funding. By prioritizing organizations that have historically faced challenges, the fund promotes diversity and strengthens the artistic community across the state.

The Booth Ferris Foundation offers grants to arts and culture organizations in New York City, aiming to enhance the city's cultural vibrancy. The Foundation prioritizes organizations that demonstrate artistic excellence, engage diverse audiences, and maintain robust fiscal health with budgets over $1 million. Support is available for capacity building and capital projects, with an emphasis on sustainability and measurable outcomes. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) public charities. The application deadline is February 1.

The New York Climate Resilience Grant Program, funded by The Nature Conservancy, aims to enhance conservation and climate adaptation efforts led by local organizations. With a total funding of $500,000 available, grants of up to $50,000 will support land protection initiatives that mitigate flooding and erosion. The program encourages projects that foster community engagement and prioritize equitable distribution of benefits, particularly for marginalized groups, ensuring resilience in the face of climate change.

Request for Proposals - Environmental Review Services for Blue Buffers Program

Enterprise Community Partners, Inc. ("Enterprise") was selected as a subrecipient of New York State Housing and Community Renewal to administer the Blue Buffers Program pursuant to a subaward. To fulfill its obligations, Enterprise formed a special purpose entity, Enterprise Assisted Properties, LLC (“EAP”).

EAP is seeking to procure professional services for environmental review for eligible properties in the New York State Blue Buffers Voluntary Risk Property Buyout Program (Blue Buffers Program) in the Town of Brookhaven, Mastic Beach, New York. The Blue Buffers program is currently available for property owners within the designated buyout area in the Town of Brookhaven, Mastic Beach.
