Grants

The Intermountain Community Care Foundation awards grants to organizations whose programs align with Intermountain Health’s mission, our national community health areas of focus, and priorities identified through our Community Health Needs Assessment. By supporting evidence-based programs and services that strengthen communities, the Foundation is dedicated to helping people live the healthiest lives possible.

Social Drivers of Health Grants

To qualify for Social Drivers of Health grant funding, your program or service must align with at least one of these social drivers of health priorities:

• Improve nutrition security
• Improve stable and quality housing through wraparound and support services

Requirements

• A full and complete financial audit conducted within the last two years. Submission must include the entire audit, including any findings and the auditor's letter
• A copy of the organization's 501(c)(3) designation letter or comparable government designation
• A completed W9
• A completed Supplier Form (a blank copy will be provided in the application)

Additional information

• Applications will be accepted for new or existing programs that clearly address a social driver of health. New programs may include pilot initiatives.
• In Utah and Idaho, applicants can request a total grant award between $5,000 to $100,000 per year for 3 years (up to $300,000 total) for the entire project period. Projects can last between 12 and 36 months and must begin upon receipt of funding.
• In Colorado, Montana, and Nevada, applicants can request a total grant award between $5,000 to $50,000 per year for 2 years (up to $100,000 total) for the entire project period. Projects can last between 12 and 36 months and must begin upon receipt of funding.
• Budget Limitation - A funding request may not exceed 20 percent of an organization’s annual operating budget, e.g., to be eligible for a $50,000 grant, your organization’s annual operating budget must be at least $250,000.
• In general, small equipment and materials, such as jump ropes or cooking utensils are eligible, at no more than a total $5,000 cost, but large equipment, construction, and capital costs are not eligible. Consideration will be given if computer equipment is necessary and vital to the success of the project.

The WaterSMART Enhancing Water Resources Projects program invites eligible entities to secure funding for initiatives that enhance water resource management across various sectors, including conservation, infrastructure improvement, and watershed restoration. Priority is given to projects that collaboratively address community needs and yield significant environmental benefits. This funding opportunity aligns with federal priorities aimed at optimizing resource use and improving grant oversight, as outlined in recent executive orders.

The GOCO Land Acquisition Grant, offered by Great Outdoors Colorado, aims to protect vital landscapes, waterways, and habitats across Colorado. Since 1992, GOCO has invested over $1.3 billion from Colorado Lottery proceeds to enhance public access to parks and natural areas. This grant supports projects that prioritize both urban and rural landscapes while fostering wildlife habitats and public recreation opportunities, especially in underserved communities, ensuring sustainable conservation efforts.

The Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF) offers Grant-In-Aid (GIA) funding to support conservation and management programs for wild sheep populations across North America and Central Asia. Established in 1977, WSF prioritizes collaborative proposals that involve partners and matching funds. The organization has raised over $130 million for wild sheep conservation, emphasizing scientific management and public education about sustainable hunting practices. GIA funding decisions align with WSF's mission and identified priority goals.

Department of Local Affairs, Division of Housing

Created in statute in 1970, the Division of Housing with the Department of Local Affairs partners with local communities to create housing opportunities for Coloradans who face the greatest challenges to accessing, affordable, safe, and secure homes. Working with the Colorado State Housing Board, the Division of Housing supports projects ranging from homelessness prevention to homeownership.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program awards grants to smaller units of general local government that develop affordable housing, provide services and create jobs.

Activities funded with CDBG by the Division of Housing may address needs such as infrastructure for housing projects, housing rehabilitation, property acquisition, elimination of blighted conditions, code enforcement and homeowner assistance.

Eligible Project Types and AMI Levels

Rental and Homeownership:

• 51 percent of units must serve Low- to Moderate-Income households up to 80% AMI
• No income restrictions on the remaining units

Eligible Activities

• Homebuyer assistance through Down Payment Assistance (DPA) programs
• Rehabilitation for owner-occupied homes through Single-Family Owner-Occupied (SFOO) programs
• Rental housing acquisition and/or rehabilitation

The Western Division Scholarship Program offers up to $5,000 annually to support masters or doctoral students in fisheries science. Awards are based on academic excellence, potential contributions to the fisheries profession, and progress toward a graduate degree. Eligible applicants must be members of the American Fisheries Society and have completed at least one semester in a relevant graduate program within the Western Division's geographic boundaries.

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation focuses on improving economic mobility and social progress through partnerships with nonprofits. It prioritizes basic needs, income creation, stable housing, and community empowerment. The Postdoctoral Grant Program at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health aims to support the growth and professional development of postdoctoral trainees, fellows, and associates. With funding up to $20,000 for one year, recipients can engage in independent research projects, attend workshops, or cover open-access publication fees. SITKA Ecosystem Grants support projects that enhance ecosystems and promote conservation efforts. These grants encourage both grassroots initiatives and larger organizational projects, aiming to improve habitat restoration, biodiversity, and the hunting experience. With funding ranging from $3,000 to $20,000, applicants must be 18 years or older and have relevant experience. The review process is ongoing, and projects should emphasize collaboration and measurable impacts on environmental goals, benefiting both society and ecosystems.

The Basin Water Supply Reserve Fund Grants offer financial support to Colorado water users for addressing critical water supply challenges. Eligible entities, including governmental and private organizations, can apply for grants to cover activities such as technical assistance, feasibility studies, and infrastructure projects. Prior approval from a basin roundtable is required before submitting an application. This program aims to promote sustainable water management and align with the goals of the Colorado Water Plan.

Grants typically range from $500 to $10,000, often as matching funds, fostering broader fundraising efforts by local nonprofit organizations.

The Larimer County Community Foundation offers Intersections Grants, focusing on impactful funding for organizations addressing community needs in Berthoud, Estes, Fort Collins, and Loveland. Aimed at 501c(3) entities and educational institutions, these grants prioritize general support for initiatives related to Sheltering & Caring and Connecting Intersections. The Crime Victim Services — VAWA (S.T.O.P.) program, managed by the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice, aims to enhance the response to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. This initiative supports diverse projects that strengthen victim services and ensures access to justice. It mandates a 25% non-federal match for project budgets, while allowing exemptions for tribes and certain nonprofits. Office for Victims Programs (OVP)

Vision

Be a trusted resource for crime victims/survivors, service providers, and agencies, and a catalyst for improving the delivery of and access to services for victims/survivors in Colorado.

To support victims/survivors, communities, service providers, and agencies using our diverse expertise and backgrounds by:

Eligible applicants must be registered 501(c)3 nonprofits or for-profit entities aligned with their charitable programs. The Reproductive Health Equity initiative aims to enhance sexual and reproductive health for all Coloradans, particularly marginalized communities.
