For each wind turbine installed as part of a Wind for Industry® project, Whirlpool/One Energy scholarship partners are giving back to the community with scholarships. These scholarships will impact Marion County high school seniors and graduates pursuing studies in STEM fields.

Annually, this scholarship fund awards one $5,000 scholarship to a student attending any eligible educational institution. Family Medicine Cares USA offers grants up to $25,000 to support the establishment of new free clinics. Eligible applicants must either have opened or plan to open within six months of the application deadline and hold the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics Seal of Excellence. Priority is given to clinics with an AAFP member as medical director and those engaging Family Medicine residents or medical students as volunteers. Applications are accepted annually from March 15 to July 15.

The AACAP Educational Outreach Program for General Psychiatry Residents offers a unique opportunity for residents to gain insights into child and adolescent psychiatry. Participants will network with mentors and peers, attend the 71st AACAP Annual Meeting from October 14-19, 2024, and receive a stipend of up to $1,200 post-meeting. The Parkview LaGrange Hospital Scholarship was established upon the recommendation of hospital volunteers as a way to give back to the community with the funds raised from the hospital’s gift shop and Parkview Health Foundation donors. The scholarship is open to students and adults who reside in LaGrange County and who are pursuing a degree in healthcare-related field. 

The AHNS Endocrine Surgery Section ThyCa Research Grant offers $10,000 for one year to support innovative research projects focused on thyroid cancer. Organizations must ensure that RRF funds are not used for lobbying activities. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations targeting individuals aged 60 and older.

The Louisville Institute Doctoral Fellowship supports Ph.D. and Th.D. students in their first or second year, providing a $3,000 annual grant for two years. This fellowship encourages theological education as a vocation through participation in three formational gatherings each year. Fellows engage in discussions on leadership, pedagogy, and vocational discernment while receiving financial support for all related expenses. The program aims to foster growth and collaboration among future theological educators.

The Chifles Beyond the Bag Scholarship, established in 2024 by the Rivas Family, supports children of Plantain Products Company employees by providing educational assistance. Administered through the Coral Gables Community Foundation, this scholarship aims to empower students to overcome barriers and excel academically. Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment and reapply annually by April 1. With over $6.7 million awarded in the last decade, the Foundation continues to positively impact the Coral Gables community.

The OTF Rapid Response Fund Grant provides urgent support for individuals and organizations facing digital emergencies that threaten their free expression. Through direct financial assistance and technical services from trusted partners, it aims to help high-risk individuals like journalists and activists mitigate digital threats. Eligible applicants can receive up to $50,000 to address specific needs, such as digital protection and tools development, ensuring swift and effective responses to oppressive situations.

The AOFAS Resident Scholarship Program provides orthopaedic residents from the US and Canada the opportunity to attend the AOFAS Annual Meeting 2025 in Savannah, Georgia. Covering registration fees, lodging, and transportation, this program supports residents interested in foot and ankle surgery. Eligible applicants are PGY1, PGY2, or PGY3 residents who can attend the full program on September 10-11. This unique experience allows networking with leading surgeons and gaining insights into foot and ankle procedures.

Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network

The RDCRN was established by Congress under the Rare Diseases Act in 2002. The network is an initiative of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), led by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences through is Division of Rare Diseases Research Innovation (formerly the Office of Rare Diseases Research). It is funded by collaborating NIH institutes, centers, and offices.

Now in its fifth funding cycle, RDCRN supports 20 rare disease research groups (consortia) that partner with 127 affiliated patient advocacy groups. In total, 180 diseases are currently being studied at 273 active clinical sites, both in the United States and internationally.

Pilot Grant in Pediatric Fungal Disease

Goal

Invites applications for one-year pilot projects that establish feasibility, refine the analytic design, or generate preliminary data to support future studies addressing critical knowledge gaps or improving patient-centered outcomes for pediatric invasive fungal diseases.

Objectives

• Establish feasibility of proposed pediatric IFD studies
• Refine study design or analytic approaches
• Generate preliminary data to strengthen future large-scale research
• Expand and support a diverse investigator community in pediatric IFD research
• Encourage multi-site collaboration and incorporation of patient/caregiver perspectives

Award Description

Awards will provide up to $30,000 (inclusive of direct and indirect costs) for a one-year period. Applicants are encouraged to pursue co-sponsorship with institutional partners, research networks, industry collaborators, or other stakeholders to expand available resources. To receive the award, investigators must submit their full study protocol for approval by the RDCRN. Award recipients will be offered a project management team that meets quarterly to help ensure that progress is consistent with timelines and benchmarks. Funded investigators will also be required to submit quarterly progress reports and an end-of-project report to be reviewed by the Pilot Project Committee.

High-Achieving Four-Year Scholarship

This 4-year scholarship is given annually to students who have demonstrated overall academic achievement and dedication to service within the school and in his/her community, and have low family income. The Foundation also considers applicants’ motivation, financial need, and personal experiences.

Maintenance

In order to maintain the scholarship each year, the recipient must maintain a minimum overall 3.0 GPA throughout his/her college studies.

The Family Medicine Cares USA Free Health Clinic Grants support existing clinics in providing care to the uninsured. Grants of up to $10,000 are available if funds permit, prioritizing clinics with AAFP members in leadership roles. The program emphasizes the involvement of Family Medicine residents or medical students as volunteers, aiming to enhance healthcare access in underserved communities.
