This generous Detroit HBCU Scholarship provides need-based awards to support students who are in one of the eligible zip codes of Detroit.

The purpose of the Detroit HBCU Scholarship Endowment Fund is to provide 1 (one) annual, renewable, and need-based scholarships up to $5,000 (five-thousand dollars) to students graduating from a high school with a Detroit address or students transferring from a metro-Detroit community college to attend a partner HBCU.

The Dollar General School Library Relief Grant Program, managed by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, provides crucial support to K-12 public school libraries that face significant damage due to disasters such as fires or federally recognized acts of terrorism. We want to help ensure that the United States remains a global thought leader in all forms of science, math, and technology by promoting projects which encourage, enhance and advance STEM education in this country and to promote projects which provide career opportunities for individuals with STEM education backgrounds.

The Foundation, formed in 2022, seeks to give students and educators more resources for developing and participating in STEM-based, hands-on learning. As a Foundation, we want to support STEM education programs that are making a difference for students regardless of their background or resources. We want every student in America to have enough exposure to STEM from an early age and to transform our attitudes around STEM subjects. We are working towards changing the narrative that promotes STEM subjects as challenging and difficult to the idea that a broad knowledge of STEM education is imperative for socioeconomic and economic freedom as an adult, for all.

It all begins with an idea. We support educational opportunities ranging in age from children through post-doctoral candidates and beyond to promote STEM learning and initiatives that seek to increase awareness and success in STEM careers in the United States.

We will support Innovative Environmental Projects (IEPs) that utilize interdisciplinary research to identify and address critical environmental problems with cutting-edge, innovative solutions that are scalable and replicable.

Scientific Research

Contribute to advancements in biomedical research and innovation to accelerate the progress in medical research and drug treatment development - specifically for high-mortality, under-funded areas of need such as pancreatic and colon cancers.

Urban & Community Entrepreneurship

Advancing entrepreneurship in moderate-income and underserved communities to help business leaders of today and tomorrow prosper. The focus of this program is to help foster economic empowerment by investing in organizations focusing on one individual, one job, and one business at a time.

The Morton Gould Young Composer Awards, presented by The ASCAP Foundation, support emerging composers under 30 by recognizing their original concert music. The Vitality Fund-Growth Fund, managed by the District of Columbia's Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, aims to support local entrepreneurs and small businesses. The DC Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE) was created to address gun violence in the District of Columbia. The ONSE aims to foster community-based strategies to help prevent violence and increase public safety. To support this mission, ONSE announces the availability of funding offered through the Violence Intervention Initiative (VI). The VI division supports District residents in reducing gun-related violence in the community and focuses on innovative ways to interrupt violence. 

Violence Prevention Mini-Grant

The goal of this RFA is to promote and ensure the fairest, most efficient means to obtain the benefits of the most qualified, responsive, and responsible proposals.

Funding is targeted for individuals between the ages of 12 – 35.

Purpose

The primary focus of the RFA is to support initiatives that contribute to the prevention of violence in the District of Columbia. We seek creative and impactful proposals addressing the root causes of violence, promoting community engagement, and fostering a safer and more resilient environment. The CBCF State Farm Communications Internship offers recent graduates a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in press and media relations on Capitol Hill. Running from January 10 to May 1, 2026, interns will receive housing and a stipend of $4000. Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, U.S. work authorization, and a strong interest in public service. This program aims to cultivate leadership and empower the Black community through civic engagement.

MileOneCares offers community grants aimed at enhancing lives through improved access to transportation and community support. Non-profits with 501(c)(3) status, operational for two years, can apply for funding to address local needs. The program prioritizes initiatives that uplift youth and the elderly in underserved areas. Applications are accepted year-round, but those for the current calendar year must be submitted by November 8. Grants do not support endowments or individuals.

The Synod of the Mid-Atlantic's Jubilee Trust Fund supports mission projects aimed at enhancing African-American leadership within congregations. Established in 1982, the fund promotes clergy recruitment, Christian education, and youth ministry. It addresses specific community needs through well-defined initiatives, ensuring that resources are allocated to projects that foster growth and presence of African-American churches in the region. Applications are reviewed by the Jubilee Fund Committee for potential funding.

The Richard E. & Nancy P. Marriott Foundation is dedicated to uplifting communities in Washington, D.C. by supporting nonprofit organizations focused on education, human services, and employment opportunities. With an emphasis on early childhood education, mentoring, and relief from hunger and homelessness, the Foundation awards approximately 150 grants annually, totaling around $1.8 million. They prioritize partnerships that foster community strength and individual dignity, especially for vulnerable populations, ensuring access to essential resources and job training.

Washington, DC Global Soft Landing

The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (“DMPED”) invites the submission of applications from qualified organizations for a grant under the Washington, DC Global Soft Landing (“GSL”) initiative (the “Program”). The purpose of the GSL Initiative is to support international entrepreneurs, startups, and companies seeking to establish operations in the District of Columbia (“District”).

The GSL initiative connects international entrepreneurs and startups to a network of economic developers, local government, universities, chambers of commerce, and business service providers to support a successful market entry into Washington, DC. Through the Program, DMPED intends to award funds to a Program Operator to manage and coordinate a comprehensive suite of services for international companies navigating the U.S. market entry process (“Project”). Grant funds are intended to support the day-to-day operations of the GSL initiative, as further outlined in the RFA

The Hatfield Fellowship Program, established by the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon, offers a unique nine-month internship for a Native American to work in the Washington, D.C. office of an Oregon congressional delegate. This program aims to foster understanding between tribal communities and congressional leaders, empowering fellows with skills and experience in public service. Preference is given to members of Oregon's federally recognized tribes, ensuring a strong representation of Native American voices in politics.

The CBCF Walmart Emerging Leaders Internship aims to empower young leaders through hands-on experience in public policy. Running from January 10 to May 1, 2026, this program supports interns with a $4000 stipend and housing, while fostering essential skills for leadership and civic engagement. Candidates must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5, hold U.S. citizenship or a work permit, and demonstrate a commitment to public service. This initiative reflects CBCF's mission to uplift the Black community by nurturing future leaders.

The Ward 6 DC Main Streets Support Grant Program, managed by the District’s Department of Small and Local Business Development, allocates $350,000 to support DC non-profits enhancing small businesses and community development. Applications open on March 24, 2025, for two funding pools: $100,000 for 5-10 grants ($5,000-$20,000 each) and $250,000 for 1-3 grants ($75,000-$250,000 each). Eligible applicants include only DC-incorporated non-profits.

The Folk and Traditional Arts Community Projects Grant, offered by the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, supports projects that enhance traditional arts and cultures in the mid-Atlantic region. Non-profit organizations can apply for grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, with a required 1:1 match. Eligible activities include performances, workshops, and public art collaborations, particularly those engaging underrepresented communities. This initiative fosters artistic expression and cultural connection across diverse communities.

The Mid Atlantic Tours Grants program supports presenters in the mid-Atlantic region who engage Roster Artists during their project periods. Eligible presenters can receive up to a 50% subsidy for artist compensation, which includes fees, housing, and travel. The application process is straightforward and non-competitive, but early engagement with the artist's tour manager is advised due to limited funding. This initiative fosters a diverse range of performances and community engagement.

Creative & Performing Arts

The Pincus Family Foundation’s Creative and Performing Arts portfolio supports programs where young people use art as a tool to address the structural inequities they face. Five strategic priorities:

• Arts for Social Change Focus – Integrating artistic practice with community organizing, policy advocacy, and/or systemic change efforts
• Hyperlocal Community Integration – Deep community embedment with extensive local partnerships
• Teaching Artist Investment – Commitment to the professional development and well-being of teaching artists
• Cultural Responsiveness – Programming that incorporates community cultural wealth with community input
• Environmental Justice Integration – Authentic integration of environmental themes from community-identified priorities

Target Constituency: Organizations serving preK-12 youth from marginalized communities with arts for social change programming that connects them to the power of art to question and transform systems.

Education

High school readiness for many low-income students, largely is a result of poor preparation in middle school. PFF is funding programs/projects that support middle school engagement and focus on achievement filling a funding gap. 

Target Constituency: We support non-profit organizations serving middle school students who face gaps in comprehensive high school readiness. These organizations implement innovative programming that creates challenging yet nurturing environments—preparing students for achievement while inspiring them to become engaged, confident citizens ready to contribute to their communities.

Health & Wellness

Goal: Advance children’s health and well-being by supporting nonprofits that strengthen social conditions, empower youth, and build healthier environments in marginalized communities.

Target Constituency: Nonprofits whose work strengthens social determinants of health for children in marginalized communities.

Play & Recreation

Goal: Advance children’s social-emotional development and physical well-being by supporting nonprofits that create inclusive play-based programming, competitive sports opportunities, and outdoor recreational experiences in under-resourced communities.

Target Constituency: Non-profits whose work promotes access to quality recreational programming for children ages 6-18 in under-resourced communities.

For all grants, the organization’s mission and scope must align with the Foundation’s mission. For the latter, these grants can be either unrestricted or restricted to a particular program or project. The type of grant and what it is used for will dictate the goals and objectives to be met.

The Kingman Rangers Workforce Development Program, initiated by the District of Columbia Department of Energy and Environment, aims to enhance the natural environment of Kingman and Heritage Islands while providing employment opportunities to local residents facing barriers. This program supports ecological restoration, visitor engagement, and educational initiatives, creating pathways for both adults and students from under-resourced schools in the Anacostia Watershed. It fosters community involvement and personal development for a sustainable future.

The Fiscal Year 2026 Cooperating Technical Partners (CTP) Program, managed by FEMA, allocates $41 million to enhance flood hazard mapping and data collection across nine regions. This initiative empowers local communities to effectively assess and mitigate flood risks, fostering informed decision-making and responsible planning. By providing crucial flood information, the CTP Program plays a vital role in increasing public awareness and resilience against flooding, ultimately contributing to safer communities.

The Paul E. Sluby, Sr. Historic Burial Grounds Preservation Program Grant RFA aims to protect and restore historic burial grounds in Washington, DC, particularly those significant to African American history, established before 1955. With only four intact burial sites remaining, the program encourages applicants to propose activities starting in Fall 2025 to document, research, and enhance these culturally important locations, ensuring their preservation for future generations.
