Grant decisions are made by a committee, and applicants are notified within 90 days after the application deadline.

The Winston-Salem Foundation offers Capital Improvement Grants to nonprofits in Forsyth County, NC, supporting projects that enhance physical assets, such as property and technology, with grants up to $25,000. Organizations can only have one active grant at a time and must wait three years after receiving funding before applying again. Priority is given to projects that improve ADA accessibility, support animal welfare, and beautify the community, ensuring lasting impact and sustainability.

The Laura Jane Musser Fund was established by the estate of Laura Jane Musser of Little Falls, Minnesota to continue the personal philanthropy, which she practiced in her lifetime.

Environmental Initiative Program

The Laura Jane Musser Fund assists public or not-for-profit entities to initiate or implement projects that enhance the ecological integrity of publicly owned open spaces, while encouraging compatible human activities. The Fund’s goal is to promote public use of open space that improves a community’s quality of life and public health, while also ensuring the protection of healthy, viable and sustainable ecosystems by protecting or restoring habitat for a diversity of plant and animal species.

Projects must..

• Focus on protecting/restoring a sustainable ecosystem that is a defined, public open space.
• Promote public access to and use of the defined open space.
• Involve active participation of local community members, with a particular appreciation for volunteer and youth engagement and stakeholder contributions.
• Contain measurable outcomes within the first 12-18 months.
• Include a plan for the long term financial and environmental sustainability of the proposed program.

Projects during any one grant period will be eligible for either:

• implementation grants or 
• planning grants

The Resilient and Connected Appalachians Grant Program, offered by The Nature Conservancy, provides up to $100,000 for projects that acquire land and easements throughout the Appalachian region. This program emphasizes equitable conservation, aiming to support historically marginalized communities and enhance access to nature while addressing climate change impacts. Projects must demonstrate community engagement and align with the program's goals to protect vital habitats and foster resilience in the face of environmental challenges.

The Mary Duke Biddle Foundation's Arts Grant Program provides multiyear funding to arts nonprofits and PreK-12 education organizations in North Carolina's Triangle region. With grants ranging from $20,000 to $50,000 annually, the program focuses on supporting developing and established organizations, emphasizing artistic excellence and community engagement. Eligibility includes a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Fellowship for Equitable Development

The National Community Reinvestment Coalition matches top-level graduate degree students with premiere community development organizations.

NCRC is looking for fellowship projects that move the needle on housing, small business development, and workforce development. Projects may directly result in community outcomes in these focus areas, or involve work with community members to create plans or project pipelines that will solve local issues in these areas.

The NCRC Fellowship cultivates the next generation of community development leaders and empowers them to tackle the issues of tomorrow. The community development sector will face significant challenges in the coming decades from climate change, widening wealth gaps, food insecurities, extreme housing shortages and other needs. These challenges will disproportionately impact low-wealth communities and communities of color. Therefore, it is NCRC’s intention and pledge to uphold the values of community empowerment in the fellowship program.

• Must commit to a schedule with at least one day per week in office for both fellow and host supervisor.

Eligible applicants must maintain a budget of at least $75,000 and demonstrate commitment to quality arts programming. This support aids in various operational needs, including salaries and production costs, fostering the state's creative economy and ensuring diverse artistic practices.

The North Carolina Arts Council offers Grassroots Arts Program Grants to support local arts councils across the state. These grants provide essential funding for arts programming, ensuring communities have access to diverse cultural experiences. Eligible nonprofit organizations can apply for funding to support their arts initiatives, while funds must be allocated to reflect the racial and ethnic diversity of North Carolina's population. This program aims to enhance community engagement through the arts.

The NCAC Grassroots Arts Program Grants provide essential funding for arts initiatives in all 100 counties of North Carolina. These grants aim to enhance community access to the arts through partnerships with local arts councils and provisional county partners. Eligible organizations must be nonprofit and demonstrate a commitment to quality arts programming. The program encourages diverse cultural representation and supports various arts-related projects, ensuring that all communities can experience the richness of local arts.

The Professional Development and Artistic Planning Grants, offered by South Arts, support the professional growth of presenters, programmers, and curators in the Southern U.S. These grants facilitate travel to conferences, workshops, and other opportunities to enhance organizational capacity and program design. Emphasizing diversity and inclusion, South Arts encourages applications from organizations led by BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disabled individuals. Funding covers travel, training, and related expenses, promoting equitable access to professional development.

The Regional Child Care Health Consultative Services RFA aims to establish a statewide network of Child Care Health Consultants (CCHC) to enhance the safety and health of child care environments across North Carolina. With a funding cycle of two years and up to $1.5 million available, the initiative seeks qualified applicants who can demonstrate expertise in managing state grants and providing technical assistance in early childhood education. The focus is on creating culturally inclusive practices and ensuring optimal health care for children.
