For 30 years, the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation has served as a partner in philanthropy to credit unions, with a mission to empower and inspire credit unions in the Carolinas through collaborative opportunities to enrich our communities. A great example of this collaborative philanthropy is our scholarship program. 

More than 20 credit unions in North Carolina and South Carolina have active managed funds at the Foundation. The generosity of these credit unions helps hundreds of high school seniors as well as undergraduate and graduate students receive scholarship funds each year.

As a member of any of the following credit unions, you may apply for a scholarship.

Academic Scholarships for Full-Time Students

As a benefit of membership, Blue Flame Credit Union provides eligible student members with the opportunity to apply for scholarships through the Carolina’s Credit Union Foundation. Applications are generally available beginning mid December, with scholarships usually being awarded the following May.

For MTC Federal members who are pursuing an undergraduate degree and seeking financial assistance.

If you are an MTC Federal Credit Union member pursuing an undergraduate degree, the MTC Federal Scholarship Program may be able to provide financial assistance. For those who apply but aren’t selected, the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation General Fund Scholarship offers another opportunity.

For those who apply to the MTC Federal Foundation Scholarship Program but aren’t accepted, the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation Scholarship may be able to provide financial assistance.

Scholarships do not automatically renew; selected recipients will receive a one-time distribution of funds. However, prior recipients are welcome to reapply.

The James Johnson Agricultural Scholarship at Montana State University supports students pursuing a degree in Agricultural Business, focusing on Agribusiness Management. This scholarship aims to enhance educational opportunities and foster innovation in agriculture, aligning with MSU's mission to promote student success and community engagement. Award amounts are variable, reflecting the university's commitment to addressing the needs of Montana's economy and preparing graduates for impactful careers in the agricultural sector.

The James Freeborn Memorial scholarship at Montana State University supports junior and senior students demonstrating financial need. The James B. Rannells Memorial Scholarship at Montana State University supports students pursuing degrees in the College of Agriculture or the College of Letters and Science. MSU, a leading land-grant institution, focuses on providing high-quality education and research opportunities while fostering community engagement and student success. Award amounts vary, reflecting the university’s commitment to enhancing educational access and preparing graduates to contribute positively to society.

The James and Margie Robertson Memorial Scholarship at Montana State University supports students in the College of Agriculture. This scholarship is available for those studying programs like Agricultural Business and Animal Science, requiring a minimum 2.5 GPA and a commitment to agriculture careers. MSU, founded in 1893, is dedicated to education and research, aiming to enhance student success and community engagement while fostering innovation in Montana.

The DDTSS Student Abstract Competition, hosted by the Society of Toxicology, invites graduate students to submit abstracts for the Annual Meeting. Participants can win prizes of $1,000, $400, and $150 for the top three submissions. While SOT membership is encouraged, it is not mandatory. This competition fosters the importance of drug discovery toxicology and supports students in showcasing their research to a broader audience.

The DDTSS Postdoctoral Abstract Competition, organized by the Society of Toxicology, invites postdoctoral researchers to present their accepted abstracts at the Annual Meeting. Open to applicants who have completed a PhD, the competition encourages submissions that highlight significant contributions to drug discovery toxicology. The Japanese American Community Foundation Grants support programs for the Japanese American and broader Asian American communities. Funding ranges from $2,500 to $50,000 for projects focusing on senior health, history, arts, culture, and youth. Eligible applicants must be registered 501c3 public benefit nonprofit organizations. Note that organizations with open grants cannot apply until their current grant is closed. Submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) before the full proposal.

The Rare Disease Endpoint Advancement Pilot Program, initiated by the FDA, aims to enhance the development of novel efficacy endpoints for drugs addressing rare diseases. This initiative encourages collaboration between sponsors and the FDA throughout the endpoint development process. By fostering innovation through guidance and public workshops, the program seeks to equip FDA staff and improve evaluation methods for rare disease therapies. The pilot program is set to run until September 30, 2027, providing vital support for drug development in this area.

The Food Allergy Fund Microbiome Collective is inviting Letters of Intent for innovative research proposals aimed at understanding the microbiome's role in food allergies. This funding opportunity supports projects that explore immune interactions and seek prevention or treatment strategies for food-induced allergies and anaphylaxis. Grants, with suggested funding tiers of $75,000 to $250,000, will be awarded based on collaboration and innovation, fostering advancements in food allergy research.

The Food Allergy Fund Innovators Research Grants aim to support innovative research addressing the root causes of food allergies. This initiative invites academic investigators and early-stage companies to submit proposals on a rolling basis. Grants ranging from $75,000 to $250,000 are available for one or two years, with a focus on collaboration and innovation.
