Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club Service Project & Grant
HJWC was founded in 1949 with the mission to enrich our community, the lives of our members and their families. In 2018-2019, HJWC launched our new Grant Fundraising model to help fund tangible items with a lasting impact for deserving organizations. Since then, more than $1.4 million has been granted by HJWC to non-profit organizations in Chicagoland and the Western Suburbs. Each club year, members also donate time towards service projects and scholarship awards.
HJWC partners with local nonprofits to volunteer time and services. In the 2025-2026 club year, our members completed over 250 service hours and served 13 nonprofit organizations within our local community.
These service projects provide opportunities for our members to work directly with local nonprofit organizations through meaningful, hands-on volunteer projects. Projects should be 2-3 hours in length and able to accommodate 10 or more HJWC members.

Jerry Van Winkle Memorial Scholarship
Jerry Van Winkle always considered himself a lifelong learner. One of his finest qualities was the ability to find a way to achieve his goals. He pursued his desire to become a counselor, beginning his Masters’ Degree studies at age 55. Jerry’s greatest joy was in helping students see the possibilities that education could provide. He would be honored to know that his wish – to assist students in pursuing their education – will be carried out through this scholarship fund. Each year this scholarship honors a student that demonstrates financial need, strong moral character, and personal growth throughout high school.
KBF Ski Racing Safety
The KBF helps alpine ski clubs around the country purchase safety equipment like netting and padding, and also contributes to venue improvement initiatives. Funding requests are reviewed through an annual grant cycle with an application process. Over the past decade, the Kelly Brush Foundation has purchased thousands of rolls of b-netting, supported trail widening projects, and helped with the purchase of other safety equipment.
KBF Ski Racing Safety Equipment Grants are all matching grants–meaning that any grant awarded by the Kelly Brush Foundation will need to be matched by the ski club. We expect that clubs will join us in making safety a priority by fundraising or finding room in their budget for safety.
