Greene County Community Foundation
The Greene County Community Foundation (GCCF) was established on January 31, 2005 to serve and enhance the quality of life in Greene County.
The mission of the Greene County Community Foundation (the “Foundation”) is to foster private giving, strengthen service providers and improve the overall well-being of the county’s residents. The Foundation works to build its endowment fund which in turn provides grants to accomplish its goals.
Greene County Community Foundation Grant
If you can help us with these goals, we encourage you to submit a grant application that does one of the following:
Grant awards are generally made once per year in April. Representatives will be encouraged to attend the Greene County Community Foundation Awards Night and must acknowledge the Foundation in project publicity & marketing related to the project for which they receive funds.
Grant recipients are required to complete a Project Completion Form by January 31st of the year following the year of the award. If they fail to do this, the recipients will not be eligible to receive additional grants from the Foundation.
The Drexel Fund Founders Program is a one-year paid fellowship that helps outstanding leaders already on the path to launching a school continue to plan and open an innovative and effective private school in one of The Drexel Fund’s target states: Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin. The tenth cohort of the Founders Program is designed for entrepreneurs who will begin the fellowship in Summer 2027 and be ready to launch a new private school in Fall 2028.Through the fellowship, school founders will develop their school’s education model and finalize the nuts and bolts of their school launch, including board and budget development, market analysis, facility location, student recruitment and staff hiring. Founders will create a plan that will make it possible for their school to achieve top-tier results for children while maintaining a sustainable financial model.
About the State Library
Mission:
The State Library of Iowa strengthens Iowa library services and information access for Iowans.
Enrich Iowa
About Enrich Iowa
The State Library annually administers funding appropriated by the Iowa Legislature to libraries in Iowa. Enrich Iowa consists of three programs to aid libraries in offering improved service to Iowans:
More About Direct State Aid
Direct State Aid funding is distributed to participating public libraries through a formula that calculates:
CDBG Downtown Revitalization
Supported by the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, these initiatives help communities reinvest in core commercial areas through coordinated improvements to both private building fronts and the public realm. Together, the programs advance HUD’s community development objectives by improving essential public facilities, enhancing local infrastructure, and supporting commercial revitalization within eligible downtown areas. Through targeted façade rehabilitation and transformative streetscape upgrades, the Downtown Revitalization Fund helps communities create safer, more inviting, and economically resilient downtown environments that benefit residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
Commercial Facades
The Commercial Facades Program assists communities with impactful downtown exterior improvement projects that eliminate slum and blight conditions.
Projects include primarily front and highly visible side facades of commercial or mixed-use buildings in a traditional downtown setting.
The maximum grant amount is $650,000. Applicants must address blighted items on a minimum of eight buildings (addresses) to request a grant of $650,000 and a minimum of six buildings (addresses) to request anything less than the maximum.
Project buildings must be situated within a downtown target area in which at least 25% of all buildings are determined to be in fair or poor condition. Determination of building status is made through individual surveys and documentation (pictures/ descriptions) demonstrating that the building is in fair or poor condition. A local funding match, typically from the city and the participating property owners, is required.
About the State Library
Mission: The State Library of Iowa strengthens Iowa library services and information access for Iowans. We provide support and resources to Iowa libraries and information services to the public.
About Enrich Iowa
The State Library annually administers funding appropriated by the Iowa Legislature to libraries in Iowa. Enrich Iowa consists of three programs to aid libraries in offering improved service to Iowans: Open Access; Interlibrary Loan Reimbursement; and Direct State Aid.
To participate in any of the Enrich Iowa programs, eligible libraries must complete and submit a Letter of Agreement in the spring for the following fiscal year. Learn how to participate in Enrich Iowa programs.
Open Access
Open Access enables Iowans to check out physical materials at participating libraries, providing them with direct access to more materials and information resources.
Open Access provides Iowans with direct access to more library materials and information resources than their home library can provide. It enables eligible patrons to go to any of the nearly 500 participating public and academic libraries and directly check out physical materials.
As a result, Iowans have greater access to more library resources, more choices in library service, and the convenience of using a library where they work, shop or visit. The state reimburses the loaning library a small amount for each item checked out to offset expenses.
How Do I Participate in Enrich Iowa Programs?
For the Open Access Program:
Start-up: Prepares new charter schools to open and operate.
Expansion: Grows high-quality EXISTING charter schools by raising enrollment or adding grades (program changes alone do not count).
