The mission of the Greater Madison County Community Foundation is to promote a culture of giving and investing in Madison County for the benefit of our people.

Grant Information

The Greater Madison County Community Foundation administers one grant cycle each year and accepts grant applications for charitable projects and programs that address a wide range of community needs.

Guided by best practices from the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, the Foundation typically allocates approximately 50% of available grant funds to a small number of larger projects (generally two to four awards), with the remaining 50% supporting smaller requests.

Boone County Community Foundation

The Boone County Community Foundation was formed in 2005 to coordinate and provide philanthropic support for community betterment projects in Boone County. The foundation is made up of community minded individuals who have the ability to assess community needs, implement asset development, evaluate area grant applications, encourage partnerships and initiate activities to enhance Boone County.

We are here to help donors make a positive, local impact by offering a variety of giving tools to help people achieve their charitable giving goals and do good work in our communities that lasts forever.

Boone County Community Foundation

The Boone County Community Foundation was formed in 2005 to coordinate and provide philanthropic support for community betterment projects in Boone County. Impact Grant

$15,001 and up

The Audubon County Community Foundation Grant, established in 1997, aims to enhance the quality of life in Audubon County. It provides funding for projects in civic engagement, culture, health, education, and social services. With two application cycles each year, this grant supports both capital projects and specific programs that create lasting impacts. All submitted applications must be made online by the specified deadlines, with no extensions for weekends or holidays.

The Festus & Helen Stacy Foundation provides grants to non-profit organizations worldwide, especially those focusing on evangelism, leadership development, holistic ministries, and media outreach. Established in 1980, the foundation aims to support projects that address the needs of the marginalized and promote generous giving. Grants are typically awarded for specific initiatives in South Florida, nationally, and internationally, particularly in emerging nations. Organizations must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) to be eligible.

The Zimmerman, Edward and Beverly Memorial Scholarship Fund offers $1,000 to West Noble High School seniors pursuing higher education at a college or university, with priority given to those demonstrating community service and maintaining a GPA between 2.50 and 3.00. Preference is also given to students studying agriculture, education, social work, or accounting. This scholarship reflects the values of its donors, Edward and Beverly, who were dedicated community members and supporters of local education.

The CCLF Gold Grant, offered by the Cherokee County Legacy Foundation, supports non-profit organizations and local governmental entities with funding requests ranging from $10,001 to $25,000. Applicants must submit a Letter of Intent by November 15, detailing the organization, project description, funding sources, and community impact. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations or local governments, with a focus on enhancing quality of life in Cherokee County through innovative projects.

The CCLF Bronze Grant provides funding up to $3,000 for non-profit organizations and local governmental entities in Cherokee County to enhance quality of life through various projects. The Cherokee County Legacy Foundation prioritizes innovative economic development, cultural activities, and health services. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) non-profits or local governments, while ongoing operational expenses and religious activities are not funded. This grant aims to support impactful community initiatives.

The CCLF Silver Grant supports innovative projects in Cherokee County aimed at enhancing quality of life. With funding ranging from $3,001 to $10,000, eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) non-profits and local government entities. Priority is given to initiatives in economic development, cultural activities, outdoor recreation, and health services. The grant fosters community collaboration and addresses local needs, ensuring that resources effectively reach residents and improve community engagement.

The Community Foundation of Cedar County Grant supports local non-profit organizations to enhance community quality of life. Established in 2005, it has awarded over $1 million to address various needs. This grant prioritizes 501(c)(3) organizations or governmental agencies and follows a diversity and non-discrimination policy. Only one project per organization is accepted each cycle, ensuring focused funding for impactful initiatives. The foundation’s efforts are driven by a dedicated board and staff committed to fostering generosity in the Quad Cities area.

The Community Foundation of Van Buren County Grant aims to enhance the quality of life in the community by supporting diverse charitable projects and programs. Through a single annual granting cycle, the foundation assists initiatives in areas such as arts, health, human services, and historic preservation. This independent charity is dedicated to connecting donors with causes they care about, ensuring that generous contributions effectively address the needs of the region.

The Buena Vista County Community Foundation offers small grants to not-for-profit organizations in Buena Vista County for capital investment projects. Grants of $2,000 or less are available with no required match. Eligible projects include youth education, arts, environmental initiatives, health services, and community betterment. The Foundation encourages applications during its annual funding cycles, typically held in Spring and Fall, and prioritizes projects that enhance community investment.

The Buena Vista County Community Foundation offers Medium Grants ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 to verified not-for-profit organizations and local governments. Grants are intended for capital investment projects that enhance community development rather than operational costs. The Foundation encourages sustainable projects in various categories including youth education, arts, environment, health, recreation, and community betterment, with a required 50% match for funding.

The Buena Vista County Community Foundation offers large grants over $5,000 to not-for-profit organizations for capital investment projects. Applicants must provide a 50% cash match and achieve a minimum score of 75 points. Grants are awarded to verified organizations with 501.C.3 status. The Foundation encourages projects that benefit the community, focusing on areas such as youth education, arts, health services, and environmental initiatives. The Como Charitable Foundation Grants support various programs in human services and education, prioritizing organizations with proven community service records. Funding is available for projects that demonstrate genuine need and a solid fundraising plan. While operating support is a lower priority, proposals are reviewed year-round. The Foundation particularly favors projects benefiting Franklin Parish and surrounding areas, with a focus on capital projects and human resource improvements that promise broad public benefits.

The Piñon Foundation Grant supports 501(c)(3) organizations and educational institutions focused on enhancing the education, health, and well-being of children and the elderly. Although it primarily funds initiatives in West Texas, the Dallas Fort Worth area, and Oklahoma City, it is open to proposals from other regions that can positively impact community growth. The foundation believes in the transformative power of education and health to foster community success and development.

The Procter & Gamble Strategic Fund Grant aims to enhance lives through impactful initiatives such as infant development, hygiene, and oral care. As a highly competitive fund, it supports IRS-designated 501(c)(3) organizations that provide national programs where P&G can uniquely add value. Interested applicants should carefully assess their eligibility and align with the grant's specific focus areas before applying.

The Steven C. Leuthold Family Foundation Grants support 501(c)(3) non-profits in areas such as land conservation, environmental protection, human services, and animal welfare. Founded in 1991 by philanthropist Steven C. Leuthold, the foundation prioritizes organizations that align with its giving preferences. Applications are due by June 30, 2025, with grants distributed by December 2025. Note that incomplete applications will not be accepted.

The Ochylski Family Foundation supports registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations through grants aimed at enhancing their operational capacity. With an application deadline of October 1, organizations must submit a detailed request outlining their initiatives. The foundation's mission aligns with its commitment to foster community development and nonprofit effectiveness in Iowa, ensuring that resources are allocated to impactful projects that serve the public good.

The Community Foundation of Jackson County Grants aim to enhance the quality of life for all residents by supporting innovative projects that address significant community issues. They focus on sustainable solutions that benefit diverse groups, including the underserved. Grants are available for initiatives in areas such as community development, education, health services, and the arts, encouraging collaboration to maximize impact and efficiency. This foundation plays a vital role in fostering community growth and resilience.

The Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Assistance Fund offers crucial financial support and counseling for individuals in the theatrical exhibition and distribution sectors facing health-related challenges. This fund assists with medical expenses, housing emergencies, and essential services like vocational rehabilitation and equipment aid. Eligible applicants must have a minimum of three years in exhibition or five years in distribution. The fund aims to provide a safety net for those impacted by illness, injury, or significant life changes.

The Procter & Gamble U.S. Large Site Community Grant supports initiatives that enhance the lives of individuals within 50 miles of P&G facilities. Focused on areas like infant development and hygiene, this competitive grant seeks to partner with organizations aligned with its mission. Interested groups should verify eligibility through the P&G grant portal. While many applications are received, only a select few will be funded due to high demand.

The Jerome H. & Dr. Elizabeth Emling Post Graduate Fund, established by the Erie Community Foundation, supports Erie County residents pursuing doctorate degrees or advancing master's degrees in Social Service or Education. In 2023, over $800,000 was awarded to more than 500 students for post-secondary education. Priority is given to doctoral candidates already enrolled in relevant fields, ensuring support for those committed to making a difference in their communities.

The Rev. Robert L. Browning Memorial Scholarship, managed by the Decatur County Community Foundation, supports students from Decatur County pursuing careers in ministry or social services, as well as those planning to attend Anderson University. This scholarship is renewable for up to three years and is aimed at graduating high school seniors residing in Decatur County, IN. Preference is given to applicants who attend the Church of God.

The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts administers over 160 scholarships. Some of the funds help students from a particular school or area; others provide financial assistance to those pursuing a specific field of study; still others assist students that are most in need. Students who apply to the Scholarship program may be eligible for many of these funds. 

Scholarships are provided for one academic year and are not automatically renewed each year. You can reapply to our program every year you are going to attend college, and the application you submit that year will be considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible.

Joseph F. and Helen C. McGovern Scholarship Fund

To provide support to students majoring in the field of education or social work.

Additional Guidelines

• Students can receive up to $3,000 in scholarships from the Community Foundation.
• Scholarship awards could impact the financial aid offered by a college, and students are advised to check with their college financial aid offices about this.
• Scholarships may be used to offset tuition, fees, room and board, and other items included as part of the cost for attending the institution. Some part and/or all the award could be considered taxable income. It is advisable students check with the college or tax accountant regarding this matter.

Generally the Community Foundation's scholarships are awarded to applicants who have high financial need. Applicants with household income exceeding $100,000 are less likely to be awarded, but applying will allow you to be considered for targeted scholarships.

Virginia Valk Fehsenfeld Scholarship

Open to full time undergraduate students who are Kent County residents studying education, dietetics, nutrition, or human services and have a minimum 3.4 GPA.
