Best Health Care Grants in Kansas

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation offers over 250 scholarships for graduate and doctoral students pursuing degrees in nutrition and dietetics. With scholarship amounts ranging from $500 to $25,000, applicants can utilize a single application to be considered for multiple opportunities. Eligibility includes enrollment in accredited programs and other criteria such as experience in education or dietetics. Membership in the Academy is encouraged, although not required, for most scholarships.

Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS)

The MNRS originally began to provide a place for nurses to collaborate, and collaborate they did! It is an honor to recognize the important contributions of our nursing colleagues. MNRS accepts nominations for our five very prestigious awards to selected members of the Society who have made significant and notable contributions to the field of nursing through research. 

Distinguished Contribution Award

The purpose of the Distinguished Contribution Award is to recognize the scientific contribution of a member who has conducted or promoted research, which has enhanced the science and practice of nursing in the MNRS region.

Casey’s Donation Requests support vital community needs in Education, Hunger, and Community Servants. Eligible 501(c)3 organizations within Casey’s communities can apply through the online Donation Request Form. Requests are reviewed continuously, with feedback provided via email within one month. Priority is given to organizations that haven't received donations in the current giving calendar year, which runs from May 1 to April 30.

W.C. (Wayne) Haas Technical Scholarship - (1) $5,000

The W.C. (Wayne) Haas Technical Scholarship supports Dickinson County high school or homeschool graduates, as well as nontraditional students who have earned a GED within the past two years or have equivalent workplace experience. This scholarship assists students pursuing education at a Kansas technical college or trade school, with priority given to applicants demonstrating financial need.

The Creative Forces Community Engagement Grant aims to enhance the well-being of military service members, veterans, and their families through non-clinical arts engagement programs. Funded by the Mid-America Arts Alliance, grants of $10,000 to $25,000 support diverse artistic activities in various settings. Projects should foster creative expression, social connectedness, resilience, and independence, ultimately empowering military-connected individuals to thrive through art and community involvement.

The Ernest Morgan Memorial Scholarship, managed by CommunityGiving, supports central Minnesota student athletes and leaders to pursue higher education outside their home states. This scholarship aims to expand students' horizons and experiences, with a total award of $5,000 available. Open to high school seniors from specific schools, applicants are encouraged to apply online and demonstrate their leadership or athletic skills. This initiative enhances educational opportunities and fosters personal growth among local youth.

ACCEL-KS SBIR/STTR Matching Program

This program provides early-stage funding and technical support to help Kansas-based businesses, innovators, entrepreneurs, and researchers compete for and leverage federal SBIR/STTR awards.

Funding is available through two tracks: Phase 0 and Phase I

The goal is to increase the number, quality and success rate of SBIR/STTR proposals from Kansas, accelerate the commercialization of innovative technologies, and strengthen the state’s position in the national innovation economy.

Phase 0 - Proposal Development Assistance for Phase I SBIR/STTR Submissions

Funding is used for professional services related to preparing a Phase 1 SBIR/STTR proposal.

Match Requirement: 50%

The FNBO Impact Grant Program aims to empower nonprofit organizations that eliminate barriers to economic and social opportunities. Focusing on Affordable Housing, Workforce Development, and Financial Literacy, this initiative supports projects that enhance community well-being and promote personal economic self-sufficiency. While the 2025 grant cycle is closed, interested applicants should check back in early 2026 for updates on future funding opportunities.

The Strowig Family Scholarship was established by Cathy Strowig and Pam Tate in honor of their parents, Calvin and Betty Strowig. The Strowigs were deeply committed to public service and community involvement, believing strongly in giving back through volunteerism and leadership. Calvin served as a state representative from 1963 to 1972, and Betty served as a First District Precinct Committee Woman from 1976 to 1988.

ACCEL-KS is a statewide initiative aimed at supporting and accelerating the commercialization of groundbreaking ideas and products, transforming them into market-ready solutions. By prioritizing Proof-of-Concept (PoC) and Research & Development (R&D) efforts, ACCEL-KS activates Kansas’ innovation ecosystem to deliver critical financial and wrap-around support systems to fast-track high-potential projects toward commercial success.

Funding is used for equipment and facility use, grant funding distribution, professional services, travel, marketing, communications and training.

Broadband Acceleration Grant

Purpose and Goals

The Broadband Acceleration Grant Program is a critical program in Kansas’ plan to address broadband gaps. The Program is designed to offset capital expenses in the deployment of broadband to unserved areas in three distinct funding categories: 1) Last Mile, 2) Line Extension and 3) Middle Mile. The goal of this program is to facilitate broadband access to all Kansans while promoting practices that increase deployment and encourage adoption.

Goals

• Target economically distressed areas unlikely to receive broadband service without state or federal funding
• Focus on enabling last mile and line extension locations, and middle mile segments.
• Deploy reliable broadband solutions with speeds at or greater than 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps (100/20 Mbps) upload.
• Deploy middle mile segments supporting speeds at or greater than symmetrical 10 Gbps

Funding Priorities

The following items are BAG 6.0 funding priorities:

• Critical broadband needs within a community or rural area
• Lack of access to an affordable, reliable high-speed broadband connection
• Geographic Distribution of Grant Funds: The State of Kansas may geographically distribute awards to ensure that all Kansas regions can participate in connecting Kansans
• Serve Economically Distressed Counties that are unserved

The Ralph Snyder Memorial Scholarship honors the life and legacy of Ralph Snyder, a Dickinson County native and Chapman High School graduate. After serving in the United States Air Force during World War II, Ralph built a career in the construction industry.

STFM Innovative Program Award

The STFM Innovative Program Award honors excellence in the development of an original educational program or activity for family medicine residents, students, or faculty. The award recognizes a broad interpretation of innovative family medicine programs to include innovative residency programs, clerkships, services, curricula, or other activities that have had a significant, positive impact on family medicine education.

STFM Medical Editing Fellowship

The STFM Medical Editing Fellowship provides one faculty member a yearlong experience with the editorial and publishing teams at Family Medicine. Through this part-time, virtual fellowship, early or mid-career faculty receive coaching and hands-on experience to improve their skills in writing, reviewing, and editing scientific papers. The fellowship begins in May. STFM’s Medical Editing Fellowship provides new faculty with hands-on experience at the Family Medicine journal.

The STFM New Faculty Scholars Programs helps early career family medicine faculty develop leadership and scholarship skills. Scholars receive 1 year of the New Faculty Scholars coaching, learning, and networking opportunities with senior leadership and other new family medicine faculty.

STFM Project Fund

The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Project Fund encourages STFM Collaboratives and Special Project Teams to plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and disseminate findings from educationally-related scholarly projects. The outcomes of projects supported through the STFM Project Fund should benefit members, the STFM, and the discipline of family medicine. The project should also provide students, residents and new faculty an opportunity to participate in a significant way in a scholarly project that exposes them to STFM.The STFM Project Fund is coordinated by the STFM Foundation Executive Committee and funded through the STFM Foundation. 

A project may be funded for 1 or 2 years at one of the two levels below:

• Full Funding: A few proposals of exceptional quality and potential impact may be funded up to $10000 total.
• Seed Money: To support projects up to $5000 total.

Proposals at either funding level must have matching in-kind contributions for personnel (eg, faculty and/or staff), equipment, and/or supplies.  Any unspent dollars from projects must be returned to the STFM Foundation.

The Mabee Foundation provides challenge grants for projects in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas, primarily focusing on construction, renovation, and major medical equipment purchases. Organizations must raise 40% of project costs from other donors before applying. Grants can reach up to 20% of total costs, with a maximum of $2 million. Applications are considered quarterly, requiring submissions by specific deadlines for review at upcoming board meetings.

STFM Research Paper of the Year Award

The STFM Research Paper of the Year Award recognizes a research paper published in a peer-reviewed journal the previous July 1 through June 30. The first author must be an STFM member. The STFM Research Committee bases the award selection on the quality of the research and its potential impact. The winning paper will be presented at the STFM Annual Spring Conference. The STFM Research Committee bases the award selection on the quality of the research and its potential impact, and approval of the STFM Board.

Erin Langhofer, MSW, LCSW Scholarship Fund

This scholarship opportunity was established in memory of Erin Langhofer. Erin was a graduate of the University of Kansas and a practicing therapist in the Kansas City area working with survivors of domestic violence. She had a bright future ahead of her when she was killed from a random act of gun violence. The scholarship fund was established to honor her memory and continue the good she was doing in the world, by assisting students in the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare at the University of Kansas.

Candidates will be selected from an application completed by their Field Practicum Instructor or Liaison that will be used to identify individuals that are doing outstanding work in the field. This pool of candidates will be further reviewed by the School of Social Welfare Scholarship Committee to select the top 2 candidates.

Friends of NRA

Friends of NRA is the National Rifle Association’s premier fundraising program, supporting the future of shooting sports. Since day one, Friends of NRA has been a 100% grassroots effort fueled by a united front to secure the Second Amendment and raise money for the shooting sports.

Committee volunteers are appointed to State Fund Committees to make recommendations for local grant funding in areas such as youth education, women-focused clinics, law enforcement training, hunter safety, range improvement, firearms and marksmanship training and safety. Recognizing the impact American youth has on the future of the shooting sports, State Fund Committees frequently recommend grants for youth programs, allocating the most significant portion of monies to this vital area.

Grant awards fund activities and support programs in the United States to promote firearms and hunting safety, to enhance marksmanship skills of those in the shooting sports, and to educate the public about firearms in their historic, technological and artistic context.

Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program - Kansas

The Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program provides supplies, equipment, and financial support to a variety of qualified groups and programs at the local level; geared towards youth, women, law enforcement, veterans, the disabled, and the general public, including:

• General shooting programs
• Competitive shooting
• Education, training and safety
• Hunting and conservation
• Community outreach
• Historical education

Grant funding must be used to further a charitable purpose as defined by the Internal Revenue Code under section 501(c)(3) and accompanying rules, regulations, and other IRS law and materials.

Rural Health Transformation Program: Revenue Technical Support Organization RFP

HEALTHWORKS, KHA Foundation Inc. (Healthworks) an established 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, is seeking proposals for the RTSO. The RTSO is intended to improve the financial sustainability of Kansas rural hospitals by providing centralized revenue cycle expertise, payer analytics, claims recovery services, legal and reimbursement support, and CFO mentoring designed to reduce claim denials, accelerate payment resolution, strengthen rural hospital leadership capacity, and improve payer accountability.

Objectives:

• Providing centralized expertise related to medical coding, billing, reimbursement methodologies, revenue cycle operations, managed care contracting, compliance and payment integrity.
• Developing standardized guidance, educational materials, templates and best practices to support compliant reimbursement optimization.
• Providing education and technical assistance related to emerging revenue cycle challenges and reimbursement opportunities.
• Regulatory monitoring, payer policy analysis and operational improvement
• Analyzing denied, delayed and underpaid claims to identify recovery opportunities.
• Assisting hospitals with appeals, reconsiderations, payer disputes, audit responses and reimbursement recovery efforts.
• Working with physician advisors, utilization management, case management, health information management and revenue cycle teams to identify barriers to payment.

The Dr. Carolyn Ghazal Dental Assistant Scholarships, offered by the Pacific Dental Services Foundation, provide financial aid of up to $5,000 for eligible dental assistant students. Applicants must be over 18, U.S. citizens or legal residents, and enrolled in a qualifying program. The scholarship emphasizes mentorship and training, supporting the next generation of dental assistants. Awards are based on financial need and application quality, with multiple cycles each year to support aspiring professionals.

Rural Health Transformation Program: Interfacility Transport Project RFP

Through the Interfacility Transport project (IFTp), the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) seeks transformative ideas to decrease transport delays and improve patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and provider satisfaction. Funds must be used for the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of IFTp program activities in accordance with Kansas RHTP and project requirements. Funding cannot be used to replace currently reimbursable services but may be used to supplement existing services or to create new approaches.

Goal:

Enable eligible organizations to participate in the Interfacility Transport grant project to improve health outcomes and transportation times among rural Kansas facilities by supplementing existing resources or creating dedicated rural-focused interfacility transport teams.

Objectives:

• Decrease transport delays.
• Improve patient outcomes.
• Improve provider satisfaction.
• Improve patient satisfaction.
• Evaluation of effect on cost of care.
• Other objectives as proposed by applicant(s)/awardee(s).

Centralized Credentialing Verification Pilot Project Request for Proposals

HEALTHWORKS, KHA Foundation Inc. (Healthworks) an established 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, is seeking proposals to develop a statewide Centralized Credentialing Verification Pilot Program (CCV) operating under a hosted model. The CCV will centralize credentialing intake and verification of healthcare providers while preserving payer credentialing authority and hospital privileging decisions. 

The CCV Pilot Project is intended to improve access to care, reduce administrative burden, accelerate provider onboarding, and create a sustainable statewide framework for centralized credentialing and primary source verification services for healthcare practitioners practicing in Kansas.

Objectives:

• Establish the governance, operational framework, and stakeholder engagement necessary to support a statewide centralized credentialing model.
• Conduct a Request for Proposal and identify and procure a Primary Source Verification (PSV) vendor and supporting technology infrastructure.
• Design and implement standardized credentialing workflows and policies.
• Reduce credentialing timeframes and administrative duplication.
• Improve provider onboarding and access to care, particularly in rural Kansas.
• Develop a scalable and sustainable statewide credentialing infrastructure.
