Rising Star of the Bar Award
This award recognizes a JoCo Bar young lawyer who has provided meritorious service to the legal profession, the community, or JoCo Bar.
Jack and Jill of America Foundation Scholarship
The Jack and Jill of America Foundation Scholarship will provide need-based scholarships of up to $2,500 to service-oriented college freshmen who have completed a minimum of 60 hours of community service within the last 12 months. Awards will be issued in the 2025-2026 academic year, and may be renewed annually through the senior year.
The Jack and Jill of America Foundation is committed to the positive development of youth and future leaders. Through providing programs focused on financial literacy, education, mentoring, health and wellness, and early childhood development, the Foundation promotes the preparation of succeeding generations of leaders.

The Don Miler "Spirit" Award
In 2009, the JoCo Bar Board of Directors created the Don Miller “Spirit” Award. Named for Don Miller, a longtime friend, colleague, and honorary member of JoCo Bar, the award recognizes the optimistic spirit he demonstrated throughout his life and the way he inspired and encouraged others.
The award is presented to a current or honorary JoCo Bar member who maintains an optimistic spirit that inspires and encourages others through their professional and personal life. The recipient also demonstrates the warmth and friendliness of a loyal friend and colleague.
Through the generosity of fundholders and donors, NCCF has awarded more than half a million dollars in scholarships to assist students in Northwest Connecticut with the cost of higher education.
NCCF awards more than $530,000 in scholarships a year.

Advocate Attorney Award
This award recognizes a JoCo Bar attorney member who made a significant contribution to the public interest during the past year by trying or settling a case that established an important precedent or by distinguishing themselves as an advocate in the courtroom or on appeal.
In just one application, our Common Scholarship Application provides students access to more than 150 scholarship opportunities with awards ranging from $1,000 to more than $5,000.
In 2025, San Diego Foundation awarded a record-breaking $5.5 million in scholarships to nearly 1,400 students.
William and Lucille Ash Scholarship
Be adult re-entry students (age 25 or older) or former foster youth who plan to enroll full-time at an accredited four-year university, community college or licensed career/technical school in the United States in fall (preference may be given to students attending a school in California).

Some of the funds help students from a particular school or area; others provide financial assistance to those pursuing a specific field of study; still others assist students that are most in need. Students who apply to the Scholarship program may be eligible for many of these funds.
