Scholarship eligibility requires students to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year public or private institution of higher learning. All scholarships are for full-time students, unless otherwise noted. Renewable awards are for 4 years of undergraduate study and cannot be used for post graduate coursework; all awards are paid directly to the school or may be used for book reimbursement.

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) aims to fund research on how environmental factors influence Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (ADRD). This includes studying toxins, sleep patterns, and stress in relation to ADRD pathology and resilience. Applicants should explore synergistic effects of these factors and their impact on neurobiological mechanisms. Emphasis is placed on lifespan studies and health disparities. Collaboration among experts in exposomics, neuroscience, and community engagement is encouraged to advance understanding in this critical area.

The American Indian College Fund offers scholarships for non-Tribal college students, providing financial support for American Indian and Alaska Native students pursuing higher education at accredited institutions. English Language Learning Foundation Incorporated

The English Learning Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in 2006 to assist English language learners. The mission of the ELL Foundation is to help English learners to become successful in their academic lives while honoring their cultural identities.

ELL Foundation’s College Emergency Grant

The College Emergency Grant Program provides emergency assistance of up to $500 for Greater Cincinnati college/ university EL students who are experiencing temporary financial emergencies. The focus areas for the grants include: 

• Student food insecurity (meal plans are eligible)
• Student housing insecurity (student housing is eligible)
• Student transportation barriers (bus passes are eligible)
  • Note that all assistance will be disbursed to the University, and not the student.

Due to funding availability, grantees can only receive one emergency grant per academic year. The ELL Foundation will accept emergency grant applications at any time, but applications will be reviewed on a quarterly basis. 

The American Indian College Fund offers scholarships to American Indian and Alaska Native students enrolled at Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). Applications open annually on February 1st, with a priority deadline of May 31st. Eligible students can apply for various merit-based scholarships, with awards averaging between $2,000 and $3,000. The College Fund encourages applications by the priority deadline for a better chance of funding.

The American Indian College Fund Scholarship supports high school students who are enrolled members of federally recognized tribes, or their descendants, pursuing higher education. Applications open annually on February 1st, with a priority deadline of May 31st. This merit-based scholarship provides an opportunity for students to receive awards averaging between $2,000 and $3,000 to help fund their college education. Eligible students should apply during their last semester of high school.

Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance Inc 

PHACE syndrome is a neurocutaneous syndrome characterized by large segmental infantile hemangiomas of the face and scalp in association with congenital anomalies that may affect the posterior fossa of the brain, cerebral and cervical arteries, heart, and/or eyes. LUMBAR syndrome is the lower-body counterpart of PHACE, characterized by large segmental infantile hemangiomas of the lumbosacral, buttock or pelvic regions associated with urogenital, spinal, bony, anorectal, and/or renal abnormalities. Those affected experience a wide range of comorbidities with significant psychosocial impact. We invite proposals for clinical research that improves diagnostic approaches, enhances quality of life, and addresses key aspects of disease burden and management.

Applications may be submitted by either a single investigator or multiple investigators at multiple institutions. A total of $40,000 is available and may be awarded as one large-scale project or as multiple smaller awards, depending on the number and quality of applications received. Equal consideration will be given to projects in either of the two award formats with decisions to be based upon merit and available funds.

Focus

Research should focus on PHACE and/or LUMBAR syndromes. Priority will be given to investigators who have not previously served as the senior investigator on an R01 NIH grant or equivalent, and to studies that include multidisciplinary teams with active roles for early-career investigators. Proposals that meaningfully integrate patient perspectives are strongly encouraged.

Organizations must have 501(c)(3) status and comply with eligibility criteria, including a one-year waiting period for reapplications. The foundation aims to have a significant impact on communities, especially in West Texas, while avoiding funding for specific exclusions such as endowments and fundraising events.

The DoW Kidney Cancer Early-Career Scholar Award is a unique initiative by the Academy of Kidney Cancer Investigators, established in FY19. The FY26 Kidney Cancer Research Program's Idea Development Award supports innovative research that enhances understanding of kidney cancer, aimed at improving patient outcomes. Proposals should feature a strong hypothesis and a detailed research plan, with team members experienced in kidney cancer research. A unique aspect is the Partnering Principal Investigator option, fostering collaboration between two investigators, ensuring comprehensive project development while allowing for distinct submissions.
