Central Kentucky Community Foundation Grant

CKCF strives to enhance communities by uniting people and investing resources through philanthropy. We are committed to building philanthropic resources that will enrich the lives of people who live in our nine-county region encompassing Breckinridge, Grayson, Hardin, Hart, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, and Washington counties. One of the ways we carry out this work is through a meaningful and impactful grants program.

The nonprofit organizations serving our communities provide vital services and opportunities making this a great place to call home. Our nonprofits work to help fulfill their mission and bring new opportunities to our community, but serving a growing region comes with challenges. To meet the ever-changing needs of our community, CKCF’s Granted program offers funding opportunities to our local nonprofits.

This program offers grant funding in three categories:

• Capacity Building: funding organizational and financial stability, program quality, and growth, allowing nonprofits to carry out their mission more effectively.
• Capital Improvement: funding essential items to help organizations fulfill their mission. These grants are typically a one-time expense.
• Programming: funding ideas or expand existing programs that align with the mission of the organization.

Funding

Organizations may apply for funding in only one category for up to $7,500. Additionally, we will offer the opportunity for a “stretch” ask for up to $10,000 enabling nonprofits to receive additional funding to strengthen their project.

The Junior League of Lexington Community Grants aim to promote voluntarism and enhance community welfare by funding nonprofit organizations in Central Kentucky. Grants between $500 and $5,000 are awarded to projects that significantly improve the quality of life and engage Junior League members in volunteer opportunities. This cycle marks the last for several years as the League shifts focus to research and collaboration with selected nonprofits to address unmet community needs effectively.

The Blue Grass Community Foundation offers Literacy and Early Childhood Education Grants to enhance access to pre-K education and literacy programs in Central Kentucky. With a focus on low-income and underserved students, these grants support innovative educational solutions, professional development for educators, and community engagement initiatives. Eligible organizations can apply for project support or general operating funding to foster equitable educational opportunities and address achievement gaps in the region.

The Thomas J. Emery Memorial Grant, established by prominent Cincinnati philanthropists, aims to enhance the lives of individuals in the Greater Cincinnati area through grants that support social, cultural, educational, civic, and physical betterment. This initiative honors the legacy of Thomas and Mary Emery in fostering community development.

The Legacy Foundation of Kentuckiana Grant supports 501c3 nonprofit organizations in specific counties of Kentucky and Indiana, with a focus on improving health and advancing social justice for vulnerable populations. They offer funding ranging from $25,000 to $500,000, encouraging impactful proposals while engaging in relational philanthropy. Interested organizations must submit a Letter of Interest, with cycles in May and December, to explore potential alignment and funding opportunities.

The Old National Bank Foundation offers grants to nonprofit organizations for community impact initiatives across Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Focused on four key areas—Affordable Housing, Workforce Development, Economic Development, and Financial Empowerment—the foundation prioritizes programs that support underrepresented communities. Organizations must have 501(c)(3) status and align with the foundation’s funding priorities to qualify for grants, which can be applied for every two years.

The Bishop Charitable Fund Grant, offered by the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, aims to support organizations that assist low-income individuals in Washington County. This initiative seeks to enhance community welfare by funding nonprofits that align with CKCF's mission. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) exempt organizations in good standing with the IRS and have at least one year of operational history in the region. This grant reflects a commitment to fostering local resources and addressing community challenges.

The CFSKY: Women's Fund - Impact Grant supports nonprofit organizations in South Central Kentucky that are dedicated to improving the lives of women and children. Eligible organizations include those recognized as tax-exempt, and projects can range from capital improvements to educational initiatives. The fund emphasizes collaboration and innovative solutions to community challenges.

Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits operating in Cincinnati, Dayton, or Northern Kentucky. The foundation prioritizes initiatives that empower women, support children, and promote environmental conservation, among other charitable purposes.

The Resilient and Connected Appalachians Grant Program, offered by The Nature Conservancy, provides up to $100,000 for projects that acquire land and easements throughout the Appalachian region. This program emphasizes equitable conservation, aiming to support historically marginalized communities and enhance access to nature while addressing climate change impacts. Projects must demonstrate community engagement and align with the program's goals to protect vital habitats and foster resilience in the face of environmental challenges.

The Arts + Creative Industries External Agency Grant Program, initiated by the Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government, provides vital funding support to local arts and culture nonprofits. Aimed at enhancing community life through the arts, the program offers grants of $25,000 to $50,000 based on organizational budgets. This initiative fosters creativity, promotes cultural programming, and ensures equitable access to arts experiences for all residents, contributing to a vibrant and thriving Louisville.
