Natural Disaster Relief Request

The Foundation stands with tennis professionals affected by the devastating hurricanes and other natural disasters in the U.S. in 2024. If you are a tennis pro facing hardships due to recent storms, we are here to help you get back on your feet. Our assistance program provides relief and resources specifically for tennis professionals affected by these events. Together, we can rebuild stronger.

Kentucky RHT is investing in expanding access to behavioral health services through a statewide telebehavioral health hub. Nonprofit behavioral health organizations are invited to apply for funding to participate as regional partners, supporting psychiatric consultation, care coordination, and connection to primary care and crisis services. 

Rapid Response to Recovery: Telebehavioral Health Support (Rural Health Transformation Program)

These three core focus areas of the Rapid Response to Recovery Program reflect an opportunity to coordinate a larger system of care strategy for tailoring RHT-funded work to address unique community needs A collaborative, cross-disciplinary network of providers will strengthen the behavioral health crisis continuum by: facilitating a process to plan, coordinate, and oversee elements of a crisis system; coordinating with system partners for community assessment and planning; coordination and interconnectedness of services; and data-driven continuous quality improvement.

Rural Health Transformation has a long-term vision of enabling systems change to increase our ability to serve entire populations through enhanced partner collaboration, as opposed to serving individuals as single providers. We encourage applicants to consider how telebehavioral health capacity, integration, and coordination can support this broader system vision. We encourage applicants to think about the following framework when developing their responses:

• Improving outcomes for the entire crisis system, so that every person receives the right service in the right setting, every time
• Promotion and adoption of enhanced data-sharing technology, agreements, data collection and reporting processes, and real-time information sharing between different system partners as a person moves through the crisis care journey;
• Facilitation of a data-driven quality improvement process, tracking quality outcomes and performance measures and strategizing amongst system partners for improving measures of success, access, and quality;
• Collaboration through shared care planning, policy, protocols, and procedure development; engagement in collaborative structures such as coalitions, committees, workgroups; and moving beyond siloes to ensure people receive the right care at the right time;
• Advancement of clinically effective crisis services across partners, while closing safety net gaps to strengthen prevention, early identification, and access to behavioral, physical, and social supports, through telebehavioral health-enabled care coordination and consultation

The anticipated budget ceiling for applicants supporting the telebehavioral health hub focus area is approximately $500,000.

ACS Research Priority Areas

The American Cancer Society (ACS) has identified these 6 areas to categorize and track the research we fund to help advance our mission. Applicants (except Institutional Research Grants and Professor grants) are asked to select at least 1 of these research areas that aligns with their proposal:

• Etiology (causes of cancer)
• Obesity/Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL)

Research Scholar Grants

Research Scholar Grants (RSG) provide support for independent, self-directed researchers.

Applicants' institutions must provide space and other resources customary for independent investigators.

Grant proposals are investigator-initiated and may pursue questions across the cancer research continuum, as long as they fit within an American Cancer Society (ACS) priority research area.

These grants typically contribute to the cost of salaries, consumable supplies, and other miscellaneous items required in the research. 

Research Scholar Grants are funded up to $215,000 per year (direct costs), plus 10% allowable indirect costs, with a project period up to four years.

Broad Street Children's Foundation supports self-sustaining children's homes across the United States that actively foster the development of strong, well-rounded children in their care.

Since the start of the Foundation, over $1,000,000.00 in grants have been donated to children's homes across the country. Additionally, through the Bill and Jackie Hazelgrove Scholarship Program, we have been able to assist a number of young people to continue their education and work towards a college or vocational degree.

Today, the Broad Street Children's Foundation is continuing the dream of it's original founders through the second generation. Equally as dedicated to changing the lives of children in need across America and striving to break the cycle of abuse and neglect for other children and their families.

About

Originally conceived by Dr Bruce Mesara in 1990 as a means to carry on his philanthropic efforts beyond his lifetime, the Mesara Family Foundation was re-envisioned by his two children Amy and Douglas in 2014, and received their 501(c)(3) status from the IRS in 2015. Amy and Douglas sought out the assistance of their cousins to build upon the charitable principals on their parents, aunts and uncles.

The foundation is headquartered in Kalamazoo Michigan.

Mission

The mission of the Mesara Family Foundation is to honor the philanthropic principles of the Mesara and Pauch families by supporting carefully selected organizations that share similar values. Our focus is to provide support toward education, conservation and other causes of special family interest where our funding will make a genuine difference.
