College Students Scholarships 

The DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation endeavors to recognize students for their academic, school and community performance while in college. The recognition is in the form of a scholarship to the student’s school of choice. The scholarship award will be sent directly to the recipient’s school to be applied toward college costs. 

James E. Montgomery Ag Scholarship

As a tribute to their father, the James E. Montgomery Ag Scholarship was established by family members to honor his farming heritage. This scholarship is available to college sophomores, juniors, and seniors and trade school students in an ag-related field of study. One, $2,000 scholarship will be awarded annually.

The Stephen Schwartz Musical Theatre Teacher of the Year Award, presented by The ASCAP Foundation and the Educational Theatre Association, recognizes outstanding middle and high school musical theatre teachers. Awarded annually, the recipient, selected by a panel of experts, will receive a $5,000 prize and be honored at the EdTA Theatre Education Conference in Minneapolis, MN. James M. Johnson Ag Scholarship

The Johnson family established this scholarship in memory of James, farmer and veteran, in 2024. This scholarship is for a graduating High School senior within DeKalb County, who must also be a member of the FFA or a 4-H Club. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to study agriculture or the trades.

The Morton Gould Young Composer Awards, presented by The ASCAP Foundation, support emerging composers under 30 by recognizing their original concert music. This prestigious award honors Morton Gould's legacy and offers monetary prizes to recipients. Eligible entrants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, aged at least 13, and can submit one original work. Pre-clinical Investigation of anti-TFPI-mediated Rebalancing Mechanisms in Non-Hemophilic Bleeding Disorders

There remains a scientific gap in understanding of the role of anti-TFPImediated hemostatic rebalancing in the context of inherited or non-hemophilic bleeding disorders. This competitive grant program encourages competitive submissions focsed on generating preclinical/foundational data exploring the therapeutic potential and mechanisms of TFPI modulation in bleeding disorders other than hemophilia.

Susan G. Komen Career Catalyst Research (CCR) Grants foster promising breast cancer researchers who are in the early stages of their faculty careers by providing support for up to three years of “protected time” for research career development under the guidance of a Mentor Committee. We seek to support those who will emerge as the next key leaders in the fight against breast cancer.

CCR Research Focus: Research projects must be hypothesis-driven, breast cancer-focused studies. They may be considered basic, translational, clinical and/or population science in nature and should align with Komen’s research priorities and mission to save lives from breast cancer. 

The AEESP Award for Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Engineering & Science Education recognizes exceptional teaching and educational initiatives in the field. Annually awarded by the AEESP Foundation, recipients receive a plaque, a cash prize of $500, and a $750 travel allotment for the awards ceremony. Nominations are open to all ranks, encouraging contributions that enhance student learning and improve engineering education practices.

The Jay Frank Memorial Musical Scholarship Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, supports students passionate about music and the music industry. With a stipend of $4000 paid in installments, this program is designed for students who have completed at least their first year of medical training. Preference is given to those seeking research experience between their first and second years.

The E. C. Lloyd & J.C.U. Johnson Scholarship Fund, established by Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Johnson, supports full-time students pursuing associate or bachelor’s degrees at accredited institutions in the U.S. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years for both undergraduate and graduate studies, contingent on maintaining eligibility standards. It can cover tuition, housing, supplies, books, and fees. However, awards depend on available assets, and future funding is not guaranteed.

The NASPGHAN Foundation/APGNN Susan Moyer Research Grant supports impactful research and quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing nursing care for children with gastrointestinal and nutritional disorders. Eligible applicants include experienced and transitioning investigators, fostering diverse expertise to enhance DMD research and improve patient outcomes.

The FY26 Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Research Program's Clinical/Translational Research Award supports pivotal research aimed at translating innovative therapeutic strategies into clinical applications for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Two funding levels cater to diverse project complexities, along with a Partnering PI Option promoting collaboration between early-career and established investigators. The FY26 Bone Marrow Failure Research Program's Resource Development Award aims to create a multiomic atlas from human bone marrow failure samples.
