Our donors establish scholarship funds with criteria they wish to be met by applicants. Our scholarship committee considers the criteria, evaluates the submitted applications, and chooses the best candidates for each scholarship.

The Paramo Foundation Scholarship Award

The Paramo Foundation Scholarship Award is awarded annually to low income students attending a college or university focused on the trades, including but not limited to, cosmetology programs. The scholarship will provide a full scholarship for one year at a trades school.

The Miniaturization and Automation of Tissue Chip Systems (MATChS) initiative by the NIH aims to advance biomedical research through the development of automated tissue chip platforms. This program encourages small businesses to propose innovative technologies that enhance data acquisition and analysis while minimizing manual handling. Funded projects will create efficient, miniaturized systems vital for drug development and other research applications. Collaboration with NIH staff is expected to ensure milestones and commercial pathways are effectively established.

The Rural Health Fellows Leadership Program, offered by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), is an intensive yearlong initiative aimed at cultivating a diverse network of rural health leaders. The Community Foundation proudly supports students in Portage and Waushara counties with over $325,000 in scholarships annually, thanks to the generosity of local individuals and families. Award amounts range from $500 to $40,000, opening doors to educational opportunities.

Debbie Callahan Arts Scholarship

Must be attending an arts school or pursuing an arts major.

Scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors. Applications are accepted from mid-November until mid-March. Scholarship award recipients will be announced at the high school awards ceremony. 

Mariano and Maria Lampazzi Fiaschi Memorial Scholarship

Established by Colonel Peter Fiaschi in memory of his parents, this scholarship is awarded to a graduating student from Susquehanna Community School District who intends to pursue a major in healthcare. The scholarship provides financial support for up to four years of college, contingent upon the recipient maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 and remaining in good standing within an accredited healthcare program.

The Miniaturization and Automation of Tissue Chip Systems (MATChS) initiative supports the development of advanced technologies for automated tissue chip platforms. This funding opportunity, provided by the NIH, aims to enhance drug development and biomedical research by enabling high-throughput automated measures and online data analysis. The Karl Hirsch Memorial Grants, established in honor of Karl Hirsch, support innovative research in paleontology and related fields. These grants fund activities such as museum travel, specimen collection, and advanced analyses. Preference is given to first-time applicants and WIPS members, although active membership is no longer a requirement. Past grant recipients must have met reporting obligations to be eligible. This initiative aims to foster diverse research projects and advance the field of paleontology.

Julia A. Frystak Memorial Scholarship

In memory of Julia Frystak, a Montrose student who passed away due to injuries sustained in an accident. Provides a post-secondary scholarship to a high school graduate who excels in academics and participates in athletics.

Scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors. Applications are accepted from mid-November until mid-March. Scholarship award recipients will be announced at the high school awards ceremony. 

Matthew VanFleet Memorial Automotive Scholarship

Established by Matthew’s parents and his sister in memory of Matt who passed away in an automobile accident. The scholarship provides assistance to a student who will study automotive technology. The scholarship is available to students from all the school districts in Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties.
