For over 81 years, The Agnes M. Lindsay Trust has been providing financial assistance to nonprofit organizations that help those in need. The Trust's focus areas of giving include Health and Welfare, Dental/Oral Health, Recreational/Camperships (camp scholarships), Education and Homeless Shelters, our newest initiative. Our geographic giving areas include the states of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.

Impacting health and welfare organizations with grants that support capital projects for those with special needs, including the blind, deaf, learning disabled, elderly, youth and family service organizations, homeless shelters, and food banks to name a few.
Dental Health
Expanding our reach to nonprofits that provide free dental clinics, and dental care to low income , needy populations to include children, families and the elderly through capital grants for dental equipment needs and program support.CampershipsEnhancing children's lives through camp scholarships that provide a child with an opportunity for a summer camping experience/summer enrichment who would otherwise be unable to attend without this scholarship support.EducationAdvancing education through scholarship support to community colleges and preselected four-year colleges and universities to needy students from rural areas. Grants are awarded directly to the institutions who select recipients based on the Trust's criteria. Hannaford Charitable Foundation
We have a long history of supporting our communities through volunteerism, donations and community leadership. The Hannaford Charitable Foundation is one of many ways we support our communities.
The Foundation's mission is to invest in creating and sustaining healthy communities in our five-state region by providing financial support to nonprofit organizations and programs that focus on improvement of the root causes impacting the quality of life for our customers, associates and neighbors. Our areas of focus for financial support are food, education and health.
Focus Areas for support:
The Foundation supports organizations in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont that focus on one of the following core components of healthy communities:
- Food – We support programs with long-term solutions that will ensure safe, stable access to healthy food primarily through regional food banks in the markets we serve.
- Education – We help to deliver strong programs that prepare people through all stages of life for success in education and readiness to enter the workforce.
- Health – We support organizations that provide quality programs focusing on promoting healthy lifestyles and improved care.
In determining which organizations and programs to support, the Foundation considers
- the impact and outcomes to the community
- prior support from Hannaford Charitable Foundation
- relative uniqueness of the program versus others in the community.
School-Based Mental Health Implementation Grant
School-Based Healthcare Solutions Network, Inc.
NOTE: The application deadline has been extended to December 1, 2023.
About School-Based Healthcare Solutions Network (SBHSN).
Utilizing a unique framework of funding systems offered by the Department of Health and Human Services, managed care organizations, health insurers, and private donors, SBHSN promotes a system of care model (Coaching Model℠) offering a mix of evidenced-based intervention, prevention, and care coordination services to children in grades K-12. The Coaching Model aims to expand quality mental healthcare access on public school campuses and improve children's social, emotional, behavioral, family, and wellness outcomes.
School-Based Mental Health Implementation Grant
In response to the growing number of students who need mental health counseling, the School-Based Healthcare Solutions Network (SBHSN) is accepting applications from Local Education Agencies (LEA), Public and Private Universities, State and local Colleges, Charter School Management Companies, Public Schools, Charter Schools, and Non-Profit Organizations (501c3) to implement and expand mental health program services on local school campuses. Grantees will receive direct funding and reimbursement to support the following activities:
- Expanding access to School-Based Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).
- Coordinating mental healthcare services with school administration and staff.
- Delivering mental healthcare services and coordinating academic-support activities to students with a history of attendance, behavior, and poor academic performance.
FUNDING
5-Years, renewable based on meeting performance goals 5-year award ceiling is $5,500,000.

Mission
The Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation was established in 1973. The Foundation's 3 primary focus areas reflect Mr. Balfour's strong affinity for the employees of the Balfour Company, his commitment to the city of Attleboro, Massachusetts, and his lifelong interest in education. Specifically, the Balfour Foundation supports:
- Educational scholarships to employees of the Balfour Company, as well as to their children and grandchildren
- Organizations serving the people of Attleboro, with special consideration given to those organizations that provide educational, human services and health care programming for underserved populations
- Educational organizations that serve New England

The Foundation's educational funding is generally focused on organizations or programs that provide support for underserved or under-represented populations to prepare for, access and succeed in higher education, including 2-year and 4-year institutions.
It is clear that Mr. Balfour was interested in supporting students for successful completion of college. As such, the Foundation focuses its grantmaking in the New England area on programs that support college readiness, access, and success. The Foundation is most interested in programs that support students all the way into and through post-secondary credential attainment (2- or 4-year credentials). Programs within institutions of higher education aimed at attracting, supporting, and retaining (through successful completion) under-served and under-represented populations are also of interest. In this area, we will consider applications that request scholarship funds, if those scholarships are part of a broader set of services and supports.

The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts (NHSCA) is a Division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Our enabling legislation charges us to ensure that the arts play a significant role in the welfare of people in the Granite State. Our mission is to promote the arts to protect and enrich New Hampshire’s unique quality of life.
The State Arts Council provides a wide variety of services, competitive grants, and technical assistance to non-profit organizations, schools, health care facilities and to individual artists, helping to ensure that the arts thrive in New Hampshire and are accessible to all. Funding for our grants and services is provided by the New Hampshire Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
Public Value Partnerships
Public Value Partnerships provides grants for general operating support of nonprofit cultural organizations and are an investment in the cultural infrastructure and creative economy of New Hampshire.
The creative economy is made up of artists, not-for-profit organizations and creative businesses that positively impact quality of life in communities, generate jobs and produce revenue for municipalities, cities and the state. Public Value Partnerships also ensure that the arts are available and accessible to all New Hampshire citizens.
A limited number of competitive and matching grants will be awarded to nonprofit arts and cultural organizations that demonstrate excellence in planning, administration and programming. Grantees are expected to provide high quality and broadly accessible arts experiences, activities and services for New Hampshire citizens. They are also expected to promote the arts as integral to the local economy by developing and maintaining close relationships with other community-based organizations and businesses and policy makers.
Requests are for unrestricted operational funds and may be made for a two-year period.

The State Arts Council provides a wide variety of services, competitive grants, and technical assistance to non-profit organizations, schools, health care facilities and to individual artists, helping to ensure that the arts thrive in New Hampshire and are accessible to all. Funding for our grants and services is provided by the New Hampshire Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
Conservation License Plate Program
The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts (NHSCA) provides grants under the Conservation License Plate Program, commonly called the “Moose Plate” program, for the conservation of publicly owned artworks, artistic elements of publicly owned historic cultural facilities that serve as sites for arts programming, projects that improve public access to significant artwork or arts documents, and projects that make historic cultural facilities and the arts programming that takes place in them, more accessible to the public.
The NH Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) receives a percentage of the “Moose Plate” funds raised from the sales of Conservation License Plates. These funds are directed back into communities through grant programs facilitated by the State Library, Division of Historical Resources and the State Arts Council to promote, conserve, and protect New Hampshire's natural, cultural, and historic resources. Interested applicants should apply for funding from the Division whose criteria and eligibility requirements best match their project activities. In any given fiscal year, an organization can only apply to ONE Division (State Library, Historical Resources or State Arts Council) for a single project.
Sample Projects
- Conservation cleaning and treatment for a Civil War memorial in a national historic site located in New Hampshire.
- Conservation and exhibition of 19th century White Mountain School oil paintings and pencil sketches owned by a town library.
- Purchase of archival materials to store a collection of historic recordings of a contra dance caller from the 1940s donated to a state college or university archives.
- Preservation of original hand-painted stage curtains or scenery designed in the early 20th century for local opera houses or town halls

To date, 248 grants totaling $1,135,809 have been awarded since the Fund’s inception to organizations in the following N.H. locations: Franklin, Tilton, Northfield, Bristol, Boscawen, Hill, Sanbornton, Belmont, New Hampton, Andover, Alexandria, Laconia, Gilford, Gilmanton, Goffstown, Merrimack, and other surrounding communities. The Fund for Community Advancement is an advised fund within the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, and is comprised of members of both the Bank’s Board of Directors and Management to include: Meg Miller, Brian Bozak, Dorcas Gordon, Scott Clarenbach and Dawn Beers.
The Fund is very active in supporting a broad range of nonprofit community activities. Categories of support include, but are not limited to: Economic development, affordable housing, education, health care, social services, environment, arts and humanities, human services, and programs or services addressing the needs of children, adolescents and single parent families. Also of importance are programs and services addressing the needs of low to moderate income families and individuals.
Program Priorities
The Franklin Savings Bank Fund for Community Advancement was formed in 1997 to provide support for substantial projects that will significantly enhance the lives of people in the communities that make up the primary market area of the bank. The Fund for Community Advancement has been established as a fund within the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.

Arts for Community Engagement Project Grants
Arts for Community Engagement (ACE) project grants support community enrichment and public benefit by providing access to high quality arts events and activities presented by community-based organizations, Main Street programs, and municipalities. The ACE grant supports a wide range of activities across a range of disciplines and includes performances, concerts, exhibits, workshops, community arts programming, and collaborative public art projects. The goals of this funding category are to engage and benefit New Hampshire residents and communities through the arts, especially people who are underserved or under-represented; encourage collaborative and cross-sector community partnerships; stimulate local economies through cultural tourism and the arts; and enhance the vibrancy of New Hampshire communities and quality of life for New Hampshire citizens.
Sample Projects
- A municipality partners with a performing arts nonprofit to offer a series of public performances at the farmers’ market. The event enlivens the town and attracts patrons to downtown businesses.
- A chamber of commerce and a community arts organization collaborate to host a weekend “Arts Walk” featuring local artists and live music to attract out-of-town visitors to the downtown area.
- A Main Street program, library, and historical society engage an artist to host public workshops at the library and local schools to inform the creation of a community mural on a downtown building. The artist seeks input and participation to ensure the mural authentically reflects the identity, history, cultural heritage and/or landscape of the town.
- An art exhibition features works that address urban growth and renewal. The exhibition incorporates a series of panel conversations with town planners and local leaders to prompt conversations about changes in the community and to seek public input into an upcoming community visioning process.
