New Mexico Grants for Nonprofits

The Bonnie Plants 3rd Grade Cabbage Grant Program inspires young students to cultivate a love for gardening by providing free oversized cabbage plants to 3rd grade classrooms across the continental U.S. Initiated in 1996, the program encourages hands-on learning about where food comes from. Each year, students compete for a $1,000 prize awarded to the best cabbage grown, fostering excitement and education about agriculture. The Rae Lee Siporin Scholarship for Women provides financial assistance to women in New Mexico who are returning to complete their undergraduate degree after a break. Eligible applicants must demonstrate financial need and be enrolled for at least one semester during the 2024-2025 academic year. Awards of up to $1,000 are offered annually to support their educational journey and help them graduate successfully.

Scholarships

CFSNM offers scholarships that support students from all walks and stages of life in pursuing various avenues of their educational and professional journeys.

Applicants must be pursuing any avenue of higher education and/or professional certifications. This includes undergraduate, post-grad, vocational and more! Applicants must be actively enrolled as a student. Applicants in high school must be a graduating senior.

The American Advertising Federation-New Mexico (AAF-NM) Scholarship Fund offers scholarships up to $1,400 annually for New Mexico residents pursuing careers in advertising. Eligible candidates must be full-time undergraduate juniors or seniors, or graduate students, attending a four-year institution in New Mexico. They should maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a marketing internship. This fund aims to support the next generation of advertising professionals by alleviating financial barriers to education.

The Albertsons Foundation - Southwest supports nonprofit organizations that enhance local communities in the Southwest, focusing on health, hunger, education, veterans, and diversity. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $5,000 for first-time applicants, with higher amounts considered for established organizations. Eligible applicants must have a valid 501(c)(3) designation and serve the community. The foundation does not fund individuals, political or religious organizations, or events.

Our Mission

The employee-led PNM | TNMP Foundation (formerly the PNM Resources Foundation) partners with mission-aligned nonprofits across New Mexico and Texas through trust-based philanthropy. We provide targeted and flexible grants that strengthen organizations holistically, rather than funding isolated programs. Our support enables these vital community partners to build resilient communities where people overcome challenges, advance through education, and truly thrive.

PNM Power Grant

The 2026 PNM Power Grant is the PNM | TNMP Foundation’s primary community grant opportunity for New Mexico nonprofits. The Power Grant provides flexible, trust‑based funding to organizations whose work strengthens communities and advances one or more of the Foundation’s core pillars: Education, Economic Vitality, and Environment.

The Foundation recognizes that nonprofits are closest to their communities and best positioned to identify local needs. Power Grant funding may be used to support programs, operations, capacity‑building, or community‑identified priorities, as long as the work clearly benefits communities served by PNM.

Grant amounts are determined based on alignment, impact, scale, equity considerations, and available funding.

The Power Grant is a one‑time award (not a multi‑year grant). Organizations proposing pilot or new initiatives should be prepared to describe how their work can continue beyond the grant period.

The NIOSH Miner Safety and Health Training Program aims to enhance health and safety training for miners in the Western United States. With mining fatalities significantly higher than the national average, this initiative seeks to address critical training needs by developing effective programs, increasing qualified instructors, and ensuring compliance with existing safety guidelines. By focusing on culturally appropriate training methods and collaborative efforts with other agencies, the program aims to reduce injuries and fatalities in the mining sector.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico offers Blue Impact Grants to support nonprofit organizations with sustainable programs that align with five key areas of focus, including Economic Opportunity, Nutrition, and Health Solutions. These grants aim to enhance community health and wellness across New Mexico while adhering to the mission of providing accessible, quality healthcare. Organizations must meet specific eligibility criteria, including holding a 501(c)(3) status and targeting local needs.

The Diminished Tree Species Grant Program focuses on restoring native tree species crucial for biodiversity and forest health. By funding scientific research, seed orchard development, and land preservation, the program aims to combat climate change through effective tree restoration projects. The Oak Hill Fund, a private entity, encourages project-specific applications, prioritizing organizations that meet eligibility criteria under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS. The Robanna Fund, established in 1992 by Robert and Deanna Levy, supports students pursuing careers in healthcare. Administered by the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, the fund awards scholarships averaging $6,000, depending on various factors such as the number of qualified applicants and donor preferences. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, reside in Hawai‘i, intend to major in a health-related field, and demonstrate financial need. This initiative aims to cultivate future healthcare professionals in the community.

The Sumners Foundation Grant aims to engage and educate the public about self-government through various programs, including civic education, democracy reform, and teacher training. Grants are available to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations primarily in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, supporting activities that foster civic engagement and understanding of democratic principles. The Foundation emphasizes direct involvement in the political process and does not fund political activities or provide individual grants.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is providing funding for research aimed at enhancing rangeland drought forecasts, crucial for effective land management. This project will develop comprehensive ecological drought forecasts and deliver them to resource managers, focusing on restoration efforts in the western U.S. By creating real-time weather data-driven forecasts, the initiative aims to improve decision-making for ecological restoration, wildfire risk management, and sustainable resource development, ultimately supporting the resilience of western dryland ecosystems.

Arts Learning in Schools and In Community

New Mexico Arts offers two grant categories for arts education projects with K-12 school-age children: Arts Learning in Schools and Arts Learning in Community. Charter schools and 501 (c) (3) private schools and 501 (c) (3) organizations may apply for themselves. Public schools must apply through the parent-teacher organization if that organization is a 501 (c) (3) or through the school district.

Arts Learning in Schools

Arts Learning in Schools supports a wide range of programs taking place in K-12 schools either during school hours or during after-school programs. These programs may focus on creative process arts activities, arts activities integrated into other content areas, art history, or arts education professional development. In school residencies with individual artists are also included in this category (note: applicants for residencies cannot be individuals and the applicant must be a charter school, 501(c)(3) private school, school district, or 501(c)(3) organization). In school projects (including residencies) may be short-term, mid-length, or long-term.

Economic Development New Mexico

The mission of the Economic Development New Mexico is to improve the lives of New Mexico families by increasing economic opportunities and providing a place for businesses to thrive.

Our programs and initiatives support our mission. The New Mexico Partnership is a statutorily-created public-private organization under contract to the department to market the state globally in order to attract new jobs and investment. Department programs provide direct assistance to New Mexico businesses and communities.

Creative Support Organization Grant

This funding opportunity is designed for organizations with a demonstrated history of impactful work in supporting creative entrepreneurs and advancing creative industry development across New Mexico. This includes organizations that support creative industry companies and workers. Whether building networks, offering technical assistance, providing creative business incubation, or strengthening regional creative ecosystems, this grant supports continued leadership in growing New Mexico’s creative economy. Open to local governments, Nations, Tribes, Pueblos, nonprofits, and for-profit organizations.

The grant funds groups that serve creative entrepreneurs, businesses, and workers through technical assistance, business incubation, workforce development, and creative ecosystem and network building.

The Emergency Community Water Assistance Grants in New Mexico support rural communities in addressing emergencies threatening safe drinking water access. With funding up to $1 million for water source construction and $150,000 for water transmission line repairs, this program empowers eligible entities like local governments, nonprofits, and tribes. It aims to restore access to clean water, enhance community resilience, and promote environmental sustainability following disasters such as droughts, floods, or chemical spills.

The Texas Methodist Foundation Grant supports innovative and sustainable solutions to improve the quality of life for communities in Texas and New Mexico. Emphasizing faith-based social impact, the grant prioritizes organizations that empower those in poverty through strategic partnerships and measurable outcomes. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations that align with the foundation's mission. This grant cycle offers both competitive and invitation-based funding opportunities aimed at fostering hope, health, and belonging.

The California Casualty Music & Arts Grant supports K-12 public schools facing budget cuts that threaten their music and arts programs. Eligible applicants, who must be active employees of public K-12 schools and members of specified educator associations, can request grants of $250 for music or arts needs. This initiative aims to enhance creative education across the states, excluding AK, HI, MA, MI, NY, and WI. Applications received by July 15 will be notified by November 30.

The Shigeo and Winifred Ito Scholarship Fund, established by a former recipient of the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, aims to support students from Hawaii pursuing higher education on the U.S. mainland. With awards averaging around $6,000, the fund prioritizes residents demonstrating financial need and maintaining good academic standing. The scholarship reflects a commitment to fostering educational opportunities and giving back to the community, ensuring that deserving students can achieve their academic goals.

The NRA Foundation: New Mexico Grants provide funding to support charitable purposes related to firearms safety and education. Eligible organizations must hold a Federal Employer Identification Number and can include IRS 501(c)(3) entities, government entities, or state-recognized nonprofits. The grants aim to promote shooting sports, educate the public on firearms, and support competitive events while ensuring that funding is used for charitable activities, not for profit-driven purposes.

The Carl C. Anderson Sr. & Marie Jo Anderson Foundation Grant supports organizations that assist low-income and vulnerable populations in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. The foundation emphasizes essential needs for children and youth, services for older adults, and enhancements for individuals with disabilities. Nature's Path's Gardens for Good program empowers communities by funding organic gardens that address food insecurity. Since 2010, it has donated $930,000 CAD to support 120 gardens. In 2023, grants of $6,500 each will be awarded to 20 gardens across the U.S. and Canada. Eligible applicants must be registered non-profits with urban organic agriculture projects that serve low-income communities, promoting sustainable practices and inclusivity.

The National Security Workforce Graduate Scholarship, launched by the LANL Foundation in partnership with Los Alamos National Laboratory, aims to strengthen the pipeline of Northern New Mexico students pursuing advanced degrees in vital science, engineering, and management fields. Eligible candidates must be residents of the region and enroll in relevant master's or doctoral programs. This scholarship not only supports academic growth but also fosters future careers at LANL, contributing to national security advancements.
