The Jim Henson Foundation offers annual grants for innovative contemporary puppet theater works, with three categories: Workshop Grants ($3,000), Production Grants ($7,000), and Family Grants ($4,000). These grants support puppet creation and performance, encouraging artistic excellence. Eligibility is primarily for IRS tax-exempt organizations, with individual artists needing a fiscal sponsor. Wichita County Jr. Livestock Association Stock Show Scholarship

The Wichita County Junior Livestock Association Stock Show (WCJLS) Scholarship was created at WFACF in 2013 to support higher education endeavors of graduating high school seniors who participated in the respective FFA programs of Wichita Falls ISD, Iowa Park CISD, Electra ISD, Burkburnett ISD, City View ISD, or the Wichita County 4-H program. There is (1) one-time $2,000 scholarship available for a recipient from each of the 6 programs; students who are in the FFA and 4-H programs must decide which one they want to apply under at the time of application. The award can be used at any college or vocational/trade program in the U.S. for any field of study. To be eligible, students must have a 2.5 GPA and have exhibited a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) for two consecutive years at the WCJLS. The top two candidates from each program will be interviewed by the scholarship committee and the award will be based 50/50 on application/interview.

Jack & Jean Ereon Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of the family of Doug Ereon, who established the Jack & Jean Ereon Scholarship Fund of the Community Foundation for Mason County.

Doug Ereon credits scholarships with making his college education possible and leading to a successful career in oil and gas. Inspired by his own experiences and the support of his parents, Jack and Jean Ereon, Doug established this scholarship fund. Jack and Jean were devoted community members; Jack played a key role in developing Ludington's marina, and Jean always encouraged her children to pursue higher education despite financial constraints.

This Fund will support scholarships for graduates of any Mason County High School pursuing a degree or certification at any accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school. The Jack and Jean Ereon Scholarship Fund provides unlimited renewals until education is complete, with the hope that deserving local students can pursue higher education without the burden of mounting debt. 

The OREF Multimodal Musculoskeletal Perioperative Pain Management Grant invites research proposals aimed at enhancing perioperative pain management strategies. This funding opportunity emphasizes opioid-sparing techniques and effective regional anesthesia methods to improve patient outcomes in orthopedic surgeries. Eligible applicants include Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) in collaboration with PhDs or MDs, fostering a diverse range of expertise in pain management research.

The Elga Ann Denny Scholarship fund was created to benefit the graduating seniors of Iowa Park CISD. Elga Ann Denny was a long time resident of Iowa Park. Ms. Denny passed away in May 2022 at the age of 88. In her will, she left instructions to create a scholarship fund for the students of Iowa Park. These funds can be used at any college or trade school, for any field of study. There are a number of one-time $2,000 scholarships available, and (2) $4,000 renewable scholarships available, that could renew for up to 4 years based on GPA.

Bill Mahoney Memorial Scholarship

The Bill Mahoney Memorial Scholarship was opened in 2021 by Bill's daughter, Mandy, to honor her father's memory. Mr. Mahoney was a long-time teacher of the Arts at Hirschi High School in Wichita Falls. This one-time scholarship, ranging from $1,000 to $4,000, is for graduating seniors of WFISD attending any college, university, or vocational school and majoring in the Arts. Recipient must be a U.S. citizen.

Association of North Texas Construction Professionals (ANTCP) Scholarship

The Association of North Texas Construction Professionals (ANTCP) Scholarship was opened in 2020. The ANTCP Scholarship is for students who are engaged in, OR whose family members have been engaged in, a construction trade. It is open to current college students residing in, OR graduating seniors of high schools in, Wichita, Archer, Clay or Wilbarger counties. There are (2) $1,500 ANTCP scholarships available each year, they can be used for any field of study at a 4-year college in the US, renewable for up to 4 years with a 2.5 cumulative GPA, OR a one-time scholarship for any vocational/trade program in the U.S.

The Centers of Excellence Program, funded by the US HHS: HRSA, aims to improve health professions education for under-represented minority individuals. It provides grants to health schools and organizations to enhance academic performance, expand clinical education, and strengthen faculty recruitment. This initiative promotes strategic partnerships to develop a competitive applicant pool and supports research on health issues affecting minority groups, ensuring better health outcomes and career opportunities in the health professions.

The National Mesothelioma Virtual Bank (NMVB) aims to enhance biomedical research on malignant mesothelioma by expanding its collection of biospecimens, including tumor tissues and blood samples, alongside demographic and clinical data. Established in 2006, the NMVB serves as a crucial resource for researchers, providing access to a diverse library of samples and data, which can help identify disease markers and develop improved treatment options. The Foundation for Financial Planning provides grants to nonprofit organizations that connect volunteer financial planners with underserved individuals in need of financial guidance. Focused on scalable and sustainable programs, the grants support both established and new initiatives that foster one-on-one relationships between planners and clients. Eligible applicants must be U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits and engage Certified Financial Planner professionals to ensure quality advice is accessible to those facing financial crises.

The SODEXO Stop Hunger Classroom Challenge invites K-12 classrooms in the U.S. to enhance existing hunger relief initiatives, such as food drives and backpack programs, by making them more impactful and student-driven. Community Foundation of Henderson County was incorporated in 1982 by a group of fourteen dedicated and compassionate local leaders with the immediate need to manage two funds - the William C. Dan and Amy Pace Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial support to students who are graduates of a public high school in Henderson County and who plan to pursue a certification to teach high school English.

The Friends of Carl Sandburg Donald E. Hubbs Scholarship Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of Henderson County, aims to support Henderson County residents pursuing college degrees in Conservation, Animal Science, or Parks and Recreation. The Step Into Swim initiative aims to increase swimming participation among underserved communities by providing learn-to-swim programs. With over 300,000 swim lessons delivered, the program partners with various organizations to ensure children learn vital water safety skills. Funding is strictly for swim lessons, with a focus on developing safe swimmers who understand essential safety rules. Grants will prioritize facilities with certified pool operators, ensuring quality instruction and community engagement in aquatic activities.

Walter G. Yopst Educational Scholarship Endowment

The Walter Yopst Scholarship has helped Wabash High School graduates since 1995. A Wabash native, Mr. Yopst worked for General Electric as an electrical engineer. Through this fund, Mr. Yopst wanted to “assist students with financial need in obtaining an education beyond the high school level, whether in academic, technical, or vocational fields”. Awards are given based on financial need, good character, and academic standing.

The Adult Learn-to-Swim Grant, a collaboration between the USA Swimming Foundation and U.S. Masters Swimming, aims to enhance adult swimming safety and reduce drowning risks. By consolidating fundraising efforts, the initiative provides vital resources and support for swim instructors and programs serving adults aged 18 and over. This grant empowers communities through education and outreach, ensuring that more adults have access to essential swim lessons and water safety training.

Custer Scholarship

Gene Custer is a lifelong Wabash County resident and farmer and a generous supporter of charitable causes. Gene established the Custer Scholarship Fund to help deserving students pursue post-secondary education. The award is given based on work experience or engagement in extra-curricular school, religious, or community activities; and a character of talent, ambition, initiative, and kindness.

The Warren MacKenzie Advancement Award supports students and emerging ceramic artists in the U.S. to enhance their skills and knowledge through research and education for up to twelve months. Eligible applicants include current students and recent graduates in ceramics. The award offers a maximum of $2,000 for travel, education, or research, enabling recipients to explore new techniques, collaborate with mentors, and attend workshops, thereby fostering professional growth in the field of ceramics.

Beryl M. Klare Scholarship Endowment

Beryl Klare created a scholarship for residents of the City of Wabash, Indiana, who are accepted into and attend an accredited post-secondary educational institution, including career training and academic degrees. Having no children of her own, she used her will to fulfill her wishes to financially assist students who want to obtain a higher education, including academic degrees and vocational training. When she passed away in 1968, her scholarship became a reality.

Sisters of the Sacred Heartland Dr. Allan French Memorial Scholarship

Provides a scholarship to students in Oklahoma who identify as members of the LGBTQIA2S+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and/or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit, and the countless affirmative ways in which people choose to self-identify) and a minimum GPA of 2.7 or higher.

The Shannon Revel Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Monroe County, supports high school seniors in Monroe County pursuing a degree in environmental engineering. This initiative aims to empower the next generation of engineers dedicated to addressing environmental challenges, fostering a sustainable future. With a commitment to inclusivity and community development, this scholarship reflects the foundation's mission of making a difference through philanthropy and education.

At the Community Foundation of Noble County we are passionate about making Noble County an even better place to call home. Since 1991, area residents have been turning to the Community Foundation of Noble County to make their philanthropic giving as effective as possible, as we see it as our mission to serve as a catalyst for positive change. The Community Foundation of Noble County is a public charity 501 (c) 3 entity.

As a group of invested community members, we identify local current and emerging issues and stimulate resources to address those needs, helping our region prepare for the future. We then leverage gifts and bequests from generous donors like you to drive positive change through grants in such areas as arts and culture, education, health and human services, civic affairs and other charitable areas of interest.

Donor Story – Robinson, John E. and Joan E. Scholarship Fund

Ever since John E. (Jack) and Joan E. Robinson established a scholarship fund with the community foundation in 1997 in memory of their deceased son, William, they have been building it the way some resourceful birds incorporate bits of just about anything into their nests.

The proceeds of catered dinners have gone into the fund, as have earnings from tutoring done by Joan, a retired teacher. The Robinsons have given many donations to the fund as memorials or honorariums and had others do the same, with honorariums in recognition of such things as birthdays and dedicated service to church.

In 2001 the Robinsons celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and asked that any gifts be to the scholarship fund. Several dozen donations were received.

Jack, a retired law enforcement officer (now deceased), and Joan have also talked up the fund at every opportunity and taken advantage of matches made available by the foundation and through the Lilly Endowment, Inc.

Several scholarships are made available each year.

In memory of their son, Bill Robinson.

A one time scholarship for residents of Noble County who are high school seniors (in particular students at Central Noble, Churubusco, East Noble and West Noble schools) pursuing any sort of post high school education. CFNC

Robyn A. Macsata Memorial Fund

This fund was established in honor Dr. Robyn Ann Macsata. This scholarship will be awarded to a female Torrington High School student who intends to pursue the study of medicine. 

Marion Community Foundation

John T. & Lois Schmidt Scholarship

The John T. & Lois Schmidt Scholarship Fund was created in 2017 to support seniors and graduates of Marion County high schools who are also members of the U.S. Armed Forces, veterans, or children or grandchildren of those on active duty or veterans. The Schmidt Fund favors applicants from Elgin High School and those with GPAs of 2.5 or better.

The Schmidt Scholarship honors John and his military service. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from January 1943 to January 1946 and was stationed in several overseas and exotic locales, including New Guinea, Netherland East Indies, Morotai, and Mindanao in the Philippine Islands. At the end of his service, he received an honorable discharge as a staff sergeant and had earned the Bronze Star for valor and the Bronze Arrowhead—awarded to those present on D-Day on the beaches of Normandy, France.

Prior to his military career, John graduated from Agosta High School (1941) and shortly after his service, married Lois (Kraner) in 1948. He was employed by Marion Power Shovel, Marion Industries, and retired after 29 years with Whirlpool. He was a member of the Marion County Farm Bureau, Disabled American Veterans, and VFW Post 7201. John passed in 2009 at the age of 86.

The Brookreson Trust Grant aims to support financing homes for the blind and organizations that assist them. This grant is targeted towards 501(c)(3) exempt organizations across all states. The program focuses on key areas such as education, health, and human services, ensuring that vital resources are directed towards enhancing the quality of life for the visually impaired community. Grants are specifically intended for initiatives that facilitate housing and support services.
