About Us
Leadership. Collaboration. Impact.
The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley helps philanthropists support the causes closest to their heart while connecting local residents to the resources they need for a better quality of life.
Our Mission
To serve as a leader and advocate for strategic philanthropy, partnering with donors to anchor a permanent and growing endowment and making investments in the Mahoning Valley that improve the quality of life for all residents.
Scholarship Opportunities
Your Community, Your Support System
Our community members support hundreds of local students every year through various scholarships facilitated by the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.
Awarded to women living in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana County who were born outside of the United States of America attending college.
Our Scholarships
Since 1986, the Community Foundation has been the leading source for post-secondary scholarship funding in Frederick County, and in more recent years, has provided significant scholarship support for students in Carroll County.
Our program supports nearly every area of study imaginable, with scholarships funded by generous donors who believe in the value of education. Some donors want to support students aspiring to careers similar to theirs; other donors want to give back to the community that has generously given to them. Others wish to honor the legacies of their loved ones, both living and deceased.
General Scholarships - Frederick County
The Community Foundation of Frederick County administers scholarships primarily for the benefit of Frederick County, Maryland residents who are pursuing post-secondary education, including undergraduate and graduate degrees, or certifications.
Approximately 60% of our available scholarships consider an applicant’s and/or their family’s financial need. In addition, all applicants must be U.S. citizens. The scholarship recipients need not attend any particular school, so long as the recipient is a candidate for certification or a degree. The recipients will be selected on the basis of academic and/or athletic achievement or promise as the basic criterion. Financial need is an additional factor, however, it is not required. The recipients will be selected from applicants on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis, including personal interviews if deemed necessary.
Generally the Community Foundation's scholarships are awarded to applicants who have high financial need. Applicants with household income exceeding $100,000 are less likely to be awarded, but applying will allow you to be considered for targeted scholarships.
