The Clifford and Rubye Angleton Scholarship Fund, managed by the Central Kansas Community Foundation, supports graduating high school seniors and college students from Butler County, Kansas, pursuing higher education. Scholarships are based on available funds and applicants' merit. Recipients may renew their scholarships for up to three years with satisfactory academic progress. This initiative emphasizes the importance of rural philanthropy and aims to empower local students to achieve their educational goals.

Virginia Hannah Brown Scholarship

The purpose of the Fund shall be to provide scholarships to graduating seniors from Tazewell High School located in Tazewell, Virginia, or from Richlands High School in Richlands, Virginia, who are furthering their education at any accredited two or four year college, university and/or technical school. The scholarship is primarily intended to provide financial assistance to students who have potential, but who may not otherwise qualify for other academic or athletic scholarships because of GPA or lack of involvement in extracurricular activities.

Scholarships will be sent directly to the school and will be made co-payable to the school and the student.

Scholarship amount is $3,000 per year, paid as $1,500 each semester upon meeting renewal criteria.

Each scholarship is renewable for up to four (4) years if the student remains enrolled in an accredited college, university or technical school; completes fifteen (15) credit hours each semester; and maintains a 3.0 GPA.

Marshall County vocational and trade students, including those in North Dakota counties adjacent to Marshall County, can receive scholarship support for trade school through Marshall County Community Foundation. Funding assists graduating seniors or current students pursuing trades, with preference for required class tools and potential consideration of living expenses where needed.

Disadvantaged youth pursuing vocational and trade education, including those in North Dakota, can receive scholarships to learn a trade and earn a living. With a mission to foster education and opportunity, Marshall County Community Foundation provides support for secondary or post-secondary vocational courses, with preference for children of foster parents and renewable awards for past recipients.

Marshall County high school graduates pursuing vocational and technical education can receive scholarship support for trade and technical career programs. Marshall County Community Foundation provides North Dakota vocational and trade education seekers with information about this Jim Blount Memorial Scholarship, which is specifically for graduates of Bremen, John Glenn, LaVille Jr-Sr., and Plymouth high schools in Indiana.

Students pursuing vocational or undergraduate education who are immediate family of sworn or certified public safety or fire employees may be eligible for scholarships that can support training needs, including those in North Dakota. With a mission to expand educational access, Arizona Community Foundation matches applicants to the 100 Club of Arizona Scholarship through its online system.

Need-based students pursuing a GED, college degree, or vocational or trade certificate who are involved with UMOM Housing Programs can apply for the Alexandra Ryan Swanson Live Your Dream Scholarship from Arizona Community Foundation. Residents of North Dakota connected to these programs and seeking vocational and trade education may be eligible.

North Dakota vocational and trade education seekers may be eligible for scholarships supporting higher or technical education. The Earl Wineinger Memorial Scholarship Fund from Central Kansas Community Foundation assists graduating Marion County FFA chapter members pursuing college or vocational-technical programs, with priority for vocational education majors and a selection process that may include an in-person interview.

Students pursuing mechanical or building trades can receive scholarship support for vocational or higher education programs, including those related to vocational rehabilitation. With a mission to expand educational access, Central Kansas Community Foundation provides funding for Harvey County, Kansas residents attending 2- or 4-year colleges, community colleges, or trade and technical schools.

Dependents of Ewing Irrigation employees pursuing undergraduate college, university, or vocational and trade education, including those in North Dakota, can apply for the Ewing Employee Assistance Foundation Scholarship from Arizona Community Foundation. This merit-based, one-year scholarship supports post-secondary study for eligible students connected to Ewing Irrigation’s workforce.

North Dakota vocational and trade education students may be eligible for this scholarship supporting community college or technical training. The Pathway to Careers fund from Arizona Community Foundation assists recent high school graduates pursuing CTE-related associate degrees, licenses, or certificates, and may benefit those focused on fields like nursing, IT, automotive, or other technical careers.

Students pursuing vocational and trade education can receive scholarship support for community college or technical programs through this Arizona Community Foundation fund. Although based in Arizona, North Dakota residents studying similar CTE fields may find comparable opportunities by exploring regional scholarships supporting two-year and vocational training pathways.

Individuals pursuing vocational and trade education or other postsecondary training, including those seeking vocational rehab pathways, can receive up to US $2,000 for tuition, books, and course-related expenses from the Northern New York Community Foundation. Applicants must reside in Jefferson, Lewis, or St. Lawrence counties, so North Dakota residents may be ineligible.

Graduating high school seniors pursuing business-related or vocational/trade programs can apply for the Thomas A. & Mary Jo Russo Scholarship, with awards up to US $20,000 over four years. Students in North Dakota interested in vocational and trade education may be eligible if they meet the residency and financial-need requirements.

Cherokee Nation Foundation offers a diverse range of scholarships to help reverse the trend of rising student debt. Students may receive up to two CNF scholarships per academic year. All opportunities are reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens, unless otherwise noted in the description.

Luke Horton & Justin Phillips Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a Cherokee Nation citizen living inside or outside of the Cherokee Nation reservation. This scholarship is for general education with an emphasis on Information Technology and requires a minimum GPA of 2.0. It is for full-time students in undergraduate or graduate school or students going to vo-tech school.

Susan B. Agnew Leoser Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or undergraduate student with a minimum 2.0 GPA. This is a one-year scholarship reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens residing outside of the Cherokee Nation jurisdictional area and attending a junior college, community college or technical school. Preference is given to students who show a history of volunteer service.

The Generation III Scholarship, offered by the Delaware Community Foundation, provides a one-time award of $1,000 to Delaware residents graduating from high school or current post-secondary students. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and intend to study a Construction or Skilled Trade at an accredited institution, which may be located outside Delaware. This scholarship supports the Foundation's mission to enhance community equity and opportunity through education.

The Cullen Brown Scholarship, offered by the Delaware Community Foundation, provides a one-time award of $2,000 to graduating seniors from Delaware high schools pursuing a certification or associate degree at any community college or trade school. As part of a record-breaking funding initiative, the Foundation aims to support students in financial need, fostering educational opportunities and equity within Delaware's communities.

The Lentz Trades Scholarship, offered by the Delaware Community Foundation, provides a one-time award of $500 to Delaware residents or graduates pursuing skilled trade or technical education. With a total of $850,000 awarded to 245 students for the 2024-2025 school year, this scholarship supports those demonstrating financial need. Applicants can apply through the DCF's online general application for trades degrees or certifications, making it a valuable opportunity for aspiring tradespeople.

The Laurel High School Alumni Association Scholarships, managed by the Delaware Community Foundation, provide vital financial assistance to graduating seniors whose parents have been active members for at least three years. These scholarships can be applied to both two-year and four-year colleges or trade schools, supporting students with a minimum GPA of 2.50. For the 2024-2025 school year, a record $850,000 was awarded to 245 students, showcasing the foundation's commitment to advancing educational opportunities.

Scholarship amounts vary depending on the scholarship applied for. Applicants are encouraged to apply for as many awards as they are eligible to increase the likelihood of receiving one or more awards.

Scholarships can be used for cost of attendance, direct education expenses, including tuition, books, and/or other school-related fees.

Bob Suddeth 4-H Scholarship Fund

The Bob Suddeth 4-H Scholarship supports DeKalb County graduating seniors who have been active in 4-H for at least six years, including their senior year of high school, and who plan to pursue agriculture-related education. Financial need is an important consideration, and students may attend any accredited trade school, college, or university. 

Scholarship amounts vary depending on the scholarship applied for. Applicants are encouraged to apply for as many awards as they are eligible to increase the likelihood of receiving one or more awards.

Scholarships can be used for cost of attendance, direct education expenses, including tuition, books, and/or other school-related fees.

If you receive an award, be sure to complete your scholarship acceptance form (online portal). Scholarship awards are paid directly to the academic institution by the end of August.

Wehrli Custom Fabrication Scholarship Fund

The Wehrli Custom Fabrication company created the scholarship to aid students interested in pursuing a career in the trades. The Fund supports two annual scholarships. The first is for a student attending a trade school or 2-year college, and the second benefits a student attending a 4-year college or university. Eligible areas of study include welding, machine tooling, auto mechanics, auto body, business management, and mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or agricultural engineering.

At the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, we work with donors, grantees, and advisors to address key community issues.

Kenneth Erickson Auto Mechanic Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Marguerite Winter and Marilyn Lynn, who established the Kenneth Erickson Auto Mechanic Scholarship of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. Kenneth Erickson was born at the end of the pre-car era. His father, a rural mail carrier, delivered mail by horse and buggy. When cars came along young Kenneth was fascinated by them and scavenged parts to build a yellow roadster, which he drove for several years. After a short stint at Continental Motors he decided to follow his passion and got a job as an auto mechanic. Eventually he opened his own business, Erickson's Garage, on Center Street in North Muskegon where he sold gas and repaired cars and trucks for over 40 years. In establishing the Kenneth I. Erickson Automobile Mechanic Scholarship, Ken's daughters, Marilyn Lynn and Marguerite Winter hope to support young people who would like to turn their passion for cars and motors into a life's work.

At the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, we work with donors, grantees, and advisors to address key community issues.

Mike and Lillian & Charles and Anne Boonstra Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Lillian Boonstra, who established the Mike and Lillian & Charles and Anne Boonstra Scholarship Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. Lillian was born and raised in Muskegon. She married Mike Boonstra, who, along with his brother Charles, owned the Boonstra Brothers Coal Co. on Western Ave for many years. Mike was one of the originators of radio station WMUS, a well-known country music radio station. Mike died a tragic death in 1981. He and Lillian were childless but always had candy for the neighborhood children. They were affectionately known as the candy lady and man. Not only was the Community Foundation a beneficiary of Lillian’s generosity, but also her church and others. The Boonstra Fund will be used to assist students attending any college, university or technical degree program, in addition to those pursuing careers in Christian vocation and service.

Counselor Awards

The American Welding Society, in 1999, established the honor of Counselor of the Society to recognize members for a career of distinguished organizational leadership that has enhanced the image and impact of the welding industry. The first class of Counselors was inducted at the 2001 AWS Show.

Election as a Counselor of the Society is demonstrated as evidenced by:

• Leadership of or within an organization that has made a substantial contribution to the welding industry.
• The individual’s organization shall have shown an ongoing commitment to the industry, as evidenced by support of participation of its employees in industry activities.
• Leadership of or within an organization that has made a substantial contribution to training and vocational education in the welding industry.
  • The individual’s organization shall have shown an ongoing commitment to the industry, as evidenced by support of participation of its employees in industry activities.
  • This recognition is selected by the AWS Counselor Committee based on specific criteria at least 16 months in advance of FABTECH.
  • Nominations must be submitted through the online nomination portal by June 1st.
  • Nominations are reviewed/selected at the fall Counselors Committee meeting, with final approval the following year at the spring Districts Council meeting.

A maximum of 5 Counselors are selected each year, as determined by the Counselors selection committee.
