These grants aim to bridge gaps in food access by supporting existing programs and collaborations. Priority is given to established organizations with a prior relationship with the Community Foundation. This scholarship is for graduating high school students who are members of Wesley United Methodist Church located in Columbia, South Carolina.

Tasha Jones Memorial ScholarshipThe Tasha Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in 2020 to honor the young life of Tasha Jones (1985-2020), a long-time and faithful employee of Edgefield Animal Care Center in Marion. The Tasha Jones Memorial Scholarship, created by her colleagues at Edgefield Animal Care Center, supports students pursuing a career in animal science, veterinary medicine, veterinary technician, or veterinary technology, who will be grateful, happy, and hardworking and pursue a goal of making life better for the animals and people they meet every day.

The HIP Graduate Student Award supports first to third-year graduate students in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico aiming for a career in academic hematology. Offering a $40,000 annual stipend for two years, it funds tuition, research, and travel to the ASH annual meeting. Eligible candidates must conduct blood sciences research and demonstrate commitment to the field. This award enhances students' competitiveness for future opportunities in hematology research.

The HIP Medical Student Award by the American Society of Hematology supports underrepresented medical students in hematology research. Participants gain mentorship, a stipend up to $32,000, and valuable exposure to hematology practices. The program offers summer, flexible, and yearlong project options to accommodate students at different stages of their medical education. This initiative aims to foster diversity in the field and encourage long-term involvement in hematology.

Franklin Hines Scholarship ($3,600)

This renewable scholarship is available to students who are graduating seniors from one of the following high schools: Hartsville High School, Darlington High School, Lamar High School, or McBee High School. 

The NHLBI Catalyze program aims to transition basic science discoveries into effective treatments for diseases under the NHLBI mission. This initiative supports early-stage product definition, prototype design, and assay development for HLBS disorders. The R61 phase focuses on initial designs and experimental setups, while the R33 phase extends support for prototype testing and user feedback. Successful completion prepares products for in vivo testing, enhancing health and societal outcomes with NIH and other support.

The Bev Sellers Memorial Scholarship, established by Sweet Adelines International, aims to support young singers pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Pedagogy, Music Education, or Music Composition. The Beta Psi Scholarship, offered by The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region, supports high school seniors from Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, and Saratoga Counties who are planning to attend a four-year college. Applicants must demonstrate exemplary character and achievement, specifically targeting those of African American or African descent. George Sherman Scholarship

Applicants must be pursuing a two- or four- year degree or advanced education and/or training in the skilled trades and show evidence of involvement in co or extra-curricular activities or volunteerism related to the applicant’s field of interest. Transcripts and scores are requested, but not necessarily a determining factor.
