The Integrated Maternal Wellness Pilot Project, initiated by the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health, aims to enhance integrated health care services for pregnant and parenting women struggling with substance use disorders in Northwestern and Western rural Ohio. This initiative seeks applicants to collaborate with a consultant to implement the MATernity Journey framework, focusing on increasing access to care and improving health outcomes for this vulnerable population.

The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health is seeking qualified hospital systems in rural counties to participate in the MATernity Journey: Integrated Maternal Wellness Framework. This initiative aims to enhance integrated care and expand comprehensive health services for pregnant and parenting women in Northwestern and Western Ohio. By partnering with local programs, this project seeks to improve health outcomes and accessibility for this vulnerable population, fostering a supportive environment for maternal wellness.

Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation

The Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation was established in 1982 as a charitable not for profit corporation which accepts gifts from various sources to help the needs of the Ohio Kiwanis community.

All active, privileged, and senior members of the Ohio District of Kiwanis are automatically voting members of the Foundation which is governed by a Board of Trustees.

Funds earmarked for specific projects will be collected and distributed only to those projects. Funds which are not designated for specific projects are invested and only the proceeds of these investments may be used to help meet our mission. In accordance with IRS statute 501(c)3, donations, gifts, bequests of money or property to the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation are tax-exempt.

Mini Grant Program

The Ohio District Foundation has a mini grant program available to Kiwanis Clubs. There is a required match for each grant. The mini grants are to be used for new club service projects that focus on the Foundation's areas of focus for Safe and Healthy Kids. These are: Bike Safety, Water Safety, Internet Safety, Fire Safety, Food and Nutrition programs, Mental health, bullying prevention, and drug addiction  

Who is OCJS

The Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) is a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety. By statute, OCJS is the lead justice planning and assistance office for Ohio, administering millions of dollars in state and federal criminal justice funding every year. OCJS also evaluates programs and products, develops training, resources, and best practices for criminal justice professionals and communities. OCJS has been designated by Governor Mike DeWine to administer the FY 2025, Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program for State Prisoners (RSAT). The RSAT funds are used to support treatment services in addition to the services the prison or jail is already required to provide.

Residential Substance Use Disorder Treatment Grant Program Request For Proposals

The goal of the RSAT Program is to prepare individuals for reintegration into communities by delivering community-based treatment and other broad-based aftercare services. RSAT assists states and units of local government in developing and implementing residential substance abuse treatment programs within state correctional facilities, local correctional, detention facilities, and juvenile detention centers where inmates are incarcerated for a period of time sufficient to permit substance abuse treatment. OCJS recommends applicants target high-risk offenders as program participants. RSAT funds may be used to implement four types of programs: residential, jail-based, aftercare, and jail-based pretrial SUD treatment programs. A minimum of 10 percent of Ohio’s RSAT allocation must be available for local correctional and detention facilities for any of the three following program areas:

Residential Substance Use Disorder Treatment

• Engage participants for a period between six (6) and 12 months.
• Establish a therapeutic community (i.e., program participants are set apart from the general population). Therapeutic Communities are residential treatment facilities that are set apart from the general correctional population in either a separate facility or a dedicated housing unit that is used exclusively for RSAT and/or other SUD treatment programs.
• Focus on the inmate’s substance use diagnosis and addiction-related needs.
• Develop the inmate’s cognitive, behavioral, social, vocational, and other skills necessary to solve the substance use and related problems.
• Require urinalysis and/or other proven reliable forms of drug and alcohol testing for program participants, including both periodic and random testing, and for former participants while they remain in the custody of the state or local government.
• Prepare participants for successful community reintegration, including post-release referral to appropriate
• evidence-based aftercare treatment and service providers that support the use of medication-assisted treatment.

Jail-Based Substance Use Disorder Treatment

• Engage participants for at least three (3) months.
• Focus on inmate’s substance use diagnosis and addiction-related needs.
• Develop the inmate’s cognitive, behavioral, social, vocational, and other skills to solve the substance use and related problems.
• Require urinalysis and/or other proven reliable forms of drug and alcohol testing for program participants, including both periodic and random testing, and for former participants while they remain in the custody of the state or local government.
• Prepare participants for successful community reintegration, including post-release referral to appropriate evidence-based aftercare treatment and service providers that support the use of medication-assisted treatment.
• Jails that do not have the capacity to establish a therapeutic community are encouraged to group RSAT program participants within the general correction setting.

Aftercare

• Projects must provide aftercare services. These services must involve coordination between the correctional treatment program and other social service and rehabilitation programs, such as education and job training, parole supervision, halfway houses, self-help, and peer group programs. To qualify as an aftercare program, the head of the substance abuse treatment program must work in conjunction with state and local authorities and organizations involved in substance abuse treatment to assist in the placement of program participants into community substance abuse treatment facilities on release
• Jail-based pretrial SUD treatment programs
• Projects that initiate or continue evidence-based SUD treatment programs, including medication-assisted treatment, in pretrial populations during their confinement and/or foster connections to SUD treatment in the community upon pretrial release. Programs supporting pre-trial populations do not need to meet above criteria for jail-based residential SUD treatment programs.

AmeriCorps Funding

ServeOhio provides grants to organizations that demonstrate they will engage AmeriCorps Volunteers to provide a service intervention that addresses a critical need in Ohio. We offer two funding competitions each year - a formula funding competition in the spring and a competitive funding competition in the fall.

AmeriCorps improves lives, strengthens communities, and fosters civic engagement through service and volunteering. AmeriCorps brings people together to tackle some of the country’s most pressing challenges through national service and volunteerism.

AmeriCorps grants are awarded to eligible organizations that engage AmeriCorps Volunteers in evidence-based or evidence-informed interventions to strengthen communities. An AmeriCorps Volunteer is a person who does community service through AmeriCorps. AmeriCorps Volunteers may receive a living allowance and other benefits. After successful completion of their service, AmeriCorps Volunteers earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award they can use to pay for higher education expenses or apply to qualified student loans.

Women's Residential ASAM Pilot Grant

DBH is seeking information in providing funding opportunities to non-profit organizations serving ASAM level of cares 3.5 and 3.7, interested in providing more information to DBH regarding the Women’s Residential ASAM Pilot Grant, to access funding for developing ASAM 4th edition co-occurring enhanced (COE) services and biomedically (BIO) enhanced services at the 3.5 and 3.7 levels of care. The target population for these funds are pregnant and postpartum women with substance use disorders.  Funds must be used for any expenses used to establish these services including, hiring appropriately credentialled staff for COE and BIO enhanced services, purchasing medical equipment necessary for BIO enhanced services, and providing housing for women and their children.

Women's Hub and Spoke Grant

DBH is seeking information in providing funding opportunities to non-profit organizations serving pregnant and postpartum women, interested in providing more information to DBH regarding the Women’s Hub and Spoke Grant, to access funding to strengthen and expand integrated, evidence-based substance use disorder (SUD) and maternal behavioral health services. The program seeks to improve maternal and infant health outcomes by addressing SUD and co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions through comprehensive screening, treatment, recovery supports, and workforce development. This opportunity may provide up to $500,000 for facilities that are already appropriately licensed and certified by the DBH in Ohio communities. Funds must be used for any expenses in developing a hub-and-spoke maternal care model in areas with little maternal healthcare integration. Expenses may include, hiring appropriately credentialed staff to fulfill hub and spoke requirements, early identification of women through evidence-based screening tools, timely enrollment, care coordination, and MAT/MOUD workforce expansion to train and mentor healthcare professionals with prescribing authority for buprenorphine and naltrexone products. All grant recipients are expected to participate in a Six Sigma systems improvement process that will bring alignment among stakeholders around creating a safer, more coordinated, and more compassionate care journey for perinatal women.

The ADAMH Community Mini-Grant Program supports non-profit and faith-based organizations in Franklin County with grants up to $5,000. The program aims to foster community impact by raising awareness of behavioral health issues, promoting prevention, reducing stigma, enhancing social connectedness, and educating about diversity, equity, and inclusion. Eligible organizations must have 501c3 status or be tax-exempt schools, and priority is given to those not currently supported by ADAMH.

The Cooperative Agreement to Support Activities Related to Analgesics, Anesthetics, and Addiction (U01) aims to enhance research in Anesthesia, Addiction Medicine, and Pain Medicine. It focuses on critical areas such as clinical trial endpoints for chronic pain, outcome measures in stimulant use disorders, and neurodevelopmental assessments in pediatric patients. The initiative encourages applicants to propose comprehensive, evidence-based plans to improve the prescribing of analgesic and anesthetic drug products, with multiple awards available.

The Mechanism for Time-Sensitive Substance Use Research (R21 Clinical Trial Optional) invites applications that address urgent research needs in substance use epidemiology and health services. This funding opportunity encourages pilot studies focusing on emerging drug issues, unexpected prescription drug abuse trends, and timely medical system challenges. Letters of Intent are recommended 30 days before the proposal deadline, emphasizing the necessity for rapid review and funding to address pressing scientific questions.

The HEAL Initiative aims to combat the opioid crisis through action-oriented research that enhances the translation of addiction epidemiology, prevention, treatment, and recovery services into practice. It prioritizes scalable, evidence-based approaches targeting various levels, including individual and community. The initiative supports a range of methods for research deployment, emphasizing collaboration between researchers and decision-makers to improve outcomes for those affected by addiction and related chronic pain.

The Tobacco, Alcohol, and Cannabis Policy Research for Health Equity (R21 Clinical Trial Optional) aims to fund projects that explore policies related to tobacco, alcohol, and cannabis in the U.S. The focus is on understanding how these policies affect usage and exposure among disadvantaged populations. Engaging community organizations is essential for promoting equity in cancer prevention. This initiative is crucial for advancing health equity and reducing disparities in substance use.

The Tobacco, Alcohol, and Cannabis Policy Research for Health Equity grant aims to support research on policies affecting tobacco, alcohol, and cannabis use in the U.S. This initiative focuses on how these policies impact populations facing health disparities. Key components include engaging community organizations to advance equity in cancer prevention. Important deadlines for applications range from February 2025 to October 2027, providing opportunities for both standard and renewal submissions.

The NIDA Research Education Program (R25) aims to enhance the training of a workforce skilled in biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research, particularly regarding substance use disorders. This program supports educational activities that prepare clinicians and clinical researchers. Applications are due by 5:00 PM local time, with optional Letters of Intent encouraged 30 days prior to the full proposal deadline. This initiative does not fund non-research-related clinical training.

The Chemical Countermeasures Research Program (CCRP) Initiative aims to support vital research on the harmful effects of acute exposure to Ultra-Potent Synthetic (UPS) opioids, including fentanyl and its combinations. This funding opportunity encourages studies that enhance understanding and mitigation strategies for these substances, focusing on both immediate and long-term health impacts. Applications are due by 5:00 PM local time, with optional Letters of Intent accepted 30 days prior to the proposal deadline.

The Residential Treatment for Pregnant and Postpartum Women program aims to deliver essential services to women facing substance use disorders.
