DOH58850 Ohio Medical Residency Support RFP

The Ohio Legislature, through the Ohio Department of Health, is investing annual funds to support graduate medical education residency positions in family medicine and psychiatry, strengthening Ohio’s physician workforce and expanding access to care statewide.

Project Objective:

• Expand Residency Training Capacity in Ohio - Increase the number of state-funded medical residency slots particularly in primary care and psychiatry by allocating an additional $2 million in the state budget to address the gap between medical school graduates and available residency positions.
• Retain Ohio-Trained Medical Graduates - Improve physician retention rates by ensuring that more Ohio medical graduates can complete their residency training within the state, thereby increasing the likelihood that they will remain and practice in Ohio after training.
• Strengthen the Physician Workforce Pipeline - Build a sustainable physician workforce by prioritizing residency training opportunities that meet Ohio’s healthcare needs, especially in underserved and high-demand areas such as mental health and primary care.

The Excellence in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Award

The purpose of the Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award is to recognize the contribution of a member who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and made significant contributions to advance equitable health outcomes and reduce health disparities through research, which has enhanced the science and practice of nursing in the MNRS region.  

The Hazardous Materials Training and Planning Grant, offered by the Ohio Public Utilities Commission, aims to enhance public safety by funding training for emergency services personnel on managing hazardous materials spills during transportation. Eligible applicants include educational institutions and local governments, with grants covering various training types. Activities must be completed by May 31, 2026, with reimbursement requests due by June 30, 2026. Joint applications for collaborative training programs are encouraged, promoting cost-effective training solutions.

The California Casualty Music & Arts Grant supports K-12 public schools facing budget cuts that threaten their music and arts programs. Eligible applicants, who must be active employees of public K-12 schools and members of specified educator associations, can request grants of $250 for music or arts needs. This initiative aims to enhance creative education across the states, excluding AK, HI, MA, MI, NY, and WI. Applications received by July 15 will be notified by November 30.

Erwin & Katherine Geis Scholarship Fund

Established by the Geis family to provide scholarships for Geis Companies employees and their children, as well as the children of the company's subcontractors and vendors. Wild Eagle and Metropolitan at The 9 employees and their children are also eligible.

A non-traditional student currently employed in a green industry is eligible to apply as well as members and relatives of SCMG.

Eligible applicants must have participated in at least one Ohio Athletic Committee wrestling event or been members of a high school football team or cheerleading squad for four years, with a minimum ACT score of 25. This initiative aims to uplift the community by fostering future leaders.

The Mildred P. McCrystal Memorial Scholarship, established by the Erie County Community Foundation, supports graduates from Erie County high schools pursuing Fine Arts with a focus on Music Performance or Education. Eligible candidates must have completed two years at an accredited university or community college. This scholarship can be renewed for up to three additional years, providing vital financial assistance to continue their educational journey and contribute to the artistic community.

The Huntington Impact Investment Philanthropy Grant Program aims to strengthen communities by supporting nonprofit organizations that enhance self-sufficiency and social equality. Organizations with IRS tax-exempt status can apply for funding to address critical community needs, fostering a more equitable environment for all.

The Norfolk Southern In-Kind Donation Grant supports organizations seeking physical donations of materials that align with their focus areas, including safety, sustainability, workforce development, and thriving communities. This grant is available year-round, with no application deadline. Recipients must be located within Norfolk Southern territory and are encouraged to apply for resources that will enhance their community projects and initiatives, fostering growth and resilience.

TC Energy’s Build Strong program supports vital organizations in communities near its operations. By providing grants, scholarships, and in-kind support, the program aims to enhance safety, education, environmental protection, and community well-being. Eligible applicants include non-profits and community groups addressing local needs. Ineligible activities include operational expenses and for-profit endeavors.
