The AEFLA, a federal law, can be found in Title II of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

Part of the AEFLA’s stated purpose is to assist adults with becoming literate, obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency, and obtaining the skills necessary to lead to sustainable improvements in the economic opportunities of their family. In addition, to the federal grants provided under the AEFLA, ODCTE's AEFL team also administers adult education allocations supported with state funds. 

Adult Education & Family Literacy Grant

The Oklahoma Department of Career & Technology Education's Adult Education & Family Literacy federal programs division requests proposals for funding to implement AEFL programs. The purpose of this grant proposal is to fund programs that:

• Assist adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and economic self-sufficiency.
• Assist adults who are parents or family members to obtain the education and skills that (1) are necessary to become full partners in the educational development of their children; (2) lead to sustainable improvements in the economic opportunities for their family.
• Assist adults in attaining a secondary school diploma and in transitioning to postsecondary education and training, including through career pathways.
• Assist immigrants and other individuals who are English language learners in: (1) improving their (a) reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills in English and (b) mathematics skills; (2) acquiring an understanding of the American system of government, individual freedom, and the responsibilities of citizenship (AEFLA Section 202).

H.E. Rainbolt Memorial Scholarship

Provides a scholarship for a Kingfisher senior who plans to further their education at a technical school or college/university in Oklahoma. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and show exceptional leadership qualities and community involvement.

Cherokee Nation Foundation

The Cherokee Nation Foundation is a nonprofit organization serving the Cherokee Nation, a federally recognized tribe of more than 470,000 citizens. Its mission is to provide educational opportunities to Cherokee students so they can reach their full potential. The Cherokee Nation Foundation is a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Scholarships

Cherokee Nation Foundation offers a diverse range of scholarships to help reverse the trend of rising student debt. Students may receive up to two CNF scholarships per academic year. All opportunities are reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens, unless otherwise noted in the description.

Audie Baker Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in education with an emphasis on special education at Northeastern State University with a minimum 3.0 GPA. This is a one-year scholarship awarded in the fall semester, reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens.

The Kingfisher Community Trust Scholarships, funded by the Communities Foundation of Oklahoma, support graduating seniors in Kingfisher County. Professional Development Conference Grant - Association of Rural and Small Libraries

The Professional Development Conference Grant supports Oklahoma public library staff attending the 2026 Association of Rural and Small Libraries (ARSL) Annual Conference. • achieving citizenship for eligible individuals.

Eligible activities can include any combination of providing resources, programs, instruction, and/or one-on-one tutoring to support the grant’s purpose.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation offers a variety of scholarships for students in the Dietetic Technician Program, with over 250 scholarships available. Ranging from $500 to $25,000, these scholarships help support aspiring dietetic professionals. Applicants need to complete a single application to be considered for multiple scholarships based on eligibility. Membership in the Academy is encouraged but not mandatory for applying.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation offers over 250 scholarships for dietetic interns, allowing a single application to apply for multiple awards. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) certified and focus on arts, community improvement, veteran support, and wellness. Requests must be made at least 60 days prior to events, and organizations can receive support only once per year.

The Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship, awarded by Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, supports first and second-year medical students conducting research over 2 to 12 months. With a total funding of $7,000, students can receive reimbursement for travel expenses up to $1,000 for presenting their findings at national conferences. Eligibility requires enrollment in schools with active AΩA chapters, while those taking a year off for research or holding a PhD are ineligible.

Oklahoma Poetry Out Loud Partnership Grant

Through the Oklahoma Poetry Out Loud Partnership Grant, one organization is selected to partner with the Oklahoma Arts Council in coordinating and implementing the annual state Poetry Out Loud competition in high schools statewide. The competition is part of the national Poetry Out Loud program administered by the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Poetry Foundation, encouraging the nation’s youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. Launched in high schools nationwide in 2006, Poetry Out Loud helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage.
