The Louis L. and Julia Dorothy Coover Foundation, a partnership between Community Foundation of the Ozarks and The Commerce Trust Company is proud to offer the Celebrate Rural Schools grant program, which will support projects that celebrate, strengthen, and elevate the unique identity of rural schools and the communities they serve. This grant supports projects that celebrate the unique culture, achievements, and identity of rural schools and their communities. It encourages districts to amplify local voices, showcase student success, and strengthen community connections. 

• Eligible applicants must be a member of the CFO's Rural Schools Partnership program.
• Total amount to award is $100,000.00.
• This is a single year grant program with final reports due in May 2027.
• Applicants may apply for up to $5,000 in funding for this grant cycle.

The Save Mart Companies CARES Foundation

In 2000, we established The Save Mart Companies CARES Foundation, our philanthropic, non-profit organization, supporting programs and organizations that provide vital resources for children and families in the communities we serve. The CARES Foundation focuses on building stronger communities through fresh foods, accessibility, and programs that support youth and helping them to thrive. Annually, The CARES Foundation contributes approximately $500,000 in small grants to support community-based, non-profit organizations.

The Save Mart Companies CARES Foundation Grant

The CARES Foundation’s focus is building stronger communities through fresh foods, access to food, and programs that support youth and helping them thrive.

The CARES Foundation will review, on a quarterly basis, among other things, the breadth of the audience served; the likely impact in the community; the importance of the need to be addressed in the community; and the community reputation, service history, and financial stability of the group or program seeking funds. No one of these or other factors will necessarily be weighted more heavily than another. Instead, each group or program will be measured against all groups and 2 programs seeking funding at the time. For example, a program serving a small segment of the community but that addresses an especially important community need, and thus has the potential for a strong and meaningful impact, would be favored over a group serving a wider clientele but that fills a less important community need. Requests for Grants should be a minimum of $500.00 up to $10,000.00. Programs and organizations requesting smaller grants should contact the Store Manager of the nearest Save Mart Companies’ store location for request consideration.

Recipients that receive grants for more than one year must demonstrate meaningful outcomes for the previous investment made by The CARES Foundation.

Funding Direct Assistance to Victims of Crimes

Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) is the only federal grant program supporting direct assistance services to victims and survivors of all types of crimes. The primary purpose of the VOCA grant program is to extend and enhance services to crime victims and crime survivors.

VOCA federal guidelines state that services are defined as those that:

• respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims
• assist primary and secondary victims to stabilize their lives after a victimization
• assist victims and survivors to understand and participate in the criminal justice system
• provide victims and survivors with a measure of safety and security such as boarding-up broken windows and replacing or repairing locks

VOCA Requirements

An agency must meet all of the following federal requirements to receive VOCA funds:

• Demonstrate a record of effective and direct services to crime victims
• Meet program match requirement
• Utilize volunteers to provide or support direct services
• Promote coordinated public and private efforts to assist victims and survivors
• Assist victims seeking crime victim compensation benefits
• Provide services to crime victims, at no charge, through the VOCA funded project
• Maintain confidentiality
• Provide services to victims and survivors of federal crime on the same basis as victims of state crime
• Maintain required civil rights information
• Meet the terms of the certified assurances, special conditions and other federal rules regulating grants

The Rebecca and Sada Tarshis Memorial Scholarship, established in 2002 by the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation, provides crucial financial assistance to Jewish students pursuing higher education. This scholarship aims to support eligible recipients in achieving their academic goals while promoting a culture of philanthropy within the Jewish community in Oregon and Southwest Washington. With a focus on educational empowerment, the scholarship fosters long-term impact and community development.

The Charis Fund Grant supports non-profit organizations in California, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada, focusing on social welfare, health, and education. Grants range from $2,500 to $7,500, aimed at addressing issues such as housing, food insecurity, and support for at-risk youth. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) certified and can apply every three years, with specific restrictions on funding for arts and political activities.

Through explorations of skilled trades, coding and robotics, flight and space, human body systems, and more, PLTW Gateway fuels students’ passion for discovery. As they engage in hands-on, collaborative problem solving focused on real-world challenges, students use and stretch their imaginations in brand-new ways that connect their learning to life.Through this partnership, Intel Foundation has committed funds to support PLTW grants to schools interested in starting or expanding PLTW programs beginning in the 2027-2028 academic year.Program Requirements

• Grantee must use their grant funds to expand their existing PLTW Gateway program. 
  • Example : Expansion activities include but are not limited to adding an additional PLTW Gateway unit not previously offered, and/or adding additional class periods of an existing PLTW Gateway unit previously offered, and/or training additional teachers in a PLTW Gateway unit for the 2027-2028 academic year.

• Grantee must complete one year of grant reporting.

Awarded to a student to encourage their continuation post high school. Can be used to continue their education at a two or four year public institution or complete vocational training. Financial need or other factors that might make a student at risk of not continuing their education are taken into consideration.

Marys River Lodge No 221 William E. McCoy III Scholarship

In 2021, Marys River Lodge No. 221 created another scholarship in honor of longtime lodge member William E. McCoy III. This scholarship is available to graduating seniors of Benton County high schools, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. It is meant to help them attend a public community college or four-year college or university. They must intend to major in hard or physical science.

For graduating high school seniors from Benton County pursuing careers in physical sciences or engineering. Students must enroll no later than fall term in a public community college, college, or university in Oregon.
