The Harry Hampton Fund Scholarship, established by the Hampton Wildlife Fund, provides a $5,000 scholarship annually to support South Carolina residents pursuing higher education in natural resource-related fields. Eligible applicants must be seniors in high school, maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above, and select a major in disciplines such as wildlife biology, forestry, or environmental science. This initiative promotes academic growth while fostering a deeper appreciation for the state's wildlife and natural resources.

The David M. Cline Scholarship, established by the Hampton Wildlife Fund in 2011, honors a dedicated board member who supported wildlife conservation in South Carolina. This scholarship is available to seniors in South Carolina high schools pursuing higher education in law enforcement, criminal justice, or forensic science. By fostering education in these fields, the scholarship aims to continue Mr. Cline's legacy of promoting wildlife and environmental stewardship in the Palmetto State.

Margaret and Jack Paylor Family Scholarship Fund

The Margaret and Jack Paylor Family Scholarship Fund was created to provide financial assistance for higher education attainment to economically disadvantaged students residing in Greenville County and planning to be attending a South Carolina public college/university. 

Funding

• $5,000 per academic year.
• The goal of this fund is to award four $5,000 scholarships annually for a total annual distribution of $20,000.
• The number of annual awards is limited to the fund’s distributable amount based on the terms outlined in the Fund Agreement.
• All award distributions will be made by the Community Foundation on the recommendation of the Scholarship Advisory Committee and will be paid in two installments ($2,500 per semester) to an approved educational institution in the name of the recipient.
• Scholarship recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA. If scholarship eligibility is lost during the first semester of an academic year, the second installment of $2,500 will not be issued.
• Scholarship funds are awarded for one academic year. 

The School Arts Support Grants aim to assist public, private, and charter schools in South Carolina by providing up to $2,500 per grant to acquire necessary materials, equipment, or professional development. This funding is specifically targeted to address COVID-related learning loss in the arts and to foster innovation and integration of the arts into core subjects. Schools may apply for up to two grants per fiscal year, emphasizing the importance of enhancing students' artistic education.

One of the most prestigious awards offered by the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association, recipients of this award are exemplary role models to organizations and individuals in and beyond their community. The recipients of this most prestigious award have demonstrated, through their actions, the qualities and characteristics as Advocate, Leader, Visionary, Mentor, and Teacher. They must have been leaders in local, county, state and national organizations; developed and facilitated changes in policy, standards, guidelines and curriculum; and promoted Public Safety through persistence and innovation for the betterment of all. 

The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual who is an outstanding member of his or her community and Fire Department. A successful candidate must possess many years of experience serving his or her community and Fire Department by taking initiative and leading by example. This individual, volunteers with various community organizations, charitable organizations, local government and hospitals, as well as other organizations. In addition to being a supportive volunteer within the community, the award-winning nominee must be active in his or her local Fire Department.

Jeffrey Vaden Chavis Medal of Valor Award

The Chavis Award is one of the highest awards to be presented to an individual for their valor in the face of danger. The award is not presented yearly but is awarded in exceptional cases involving a hazardous performance of duties that risk the life of the individual. Documentation should be in-depth with more than one witness.

Hall of Fame Award

Hall of Fame Awards are the induction of an individual to the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Hall of Fame. Criteria for the award is intentionally broad; the nominee’s contributions to the fire service must go beyond their local fire department and leave a mark on the fire service as a whole.  

There is no limit to the number of individuals who can be inducted in one year, but the individuals inducted are expected to be of the highest quality and clearly worthy of recognition at the state level.

Clyde B. Spillers Educator of the Year Award

The Educator of the Year Award is given to a nominee who has well-rounded experience in the fire service and fire education; exemplifies leadership qualities as an educator; demonstrates dedication, dependability, and selflessness in training; uses teaching skills to educate the public in fire prevention; made significant impact on the fire service training at either the local or state level.

The Jasiri L.K. Whipper Scholarship Endowment, established by the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina in 2009, honors Jasiri Whipper by providing an annual scholarship for students attending historically black colleges or state-supported colleges in South Carolina. This renewable scholarship aims to empower students and address educational equity, reflecting the Foundation's commitment to community development and support for future leaders.

The 2025-26 Federal Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Subgrant Program, offered by the South Carolina Department of Education, aims to fund organizations that provide education on sexual risk avoidance for youth aged 10-19. With approximately $1.11 million available, subawards range from $100,000 to $600,000. The program emphasizes personal responsibility, self-regulation, and healthy decision-making, promoting abstinence-until-marriage while addressing youth risk behaviors like substance abuse. Applications are encouraged from qualified non-profits.

The Wellness Across the Lifespan Grant supports the health of communities by providing access to nutritious food and essential nutrition education. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 are awarded to 501(c)(3) nonprofits in areas where Sprouts Farmers Market operates. This funding emphasizes health and nutrition education, as well as programs that promote healthy lifestyles and nutrition security, ultimately benefiting adults and vulnerable populations.

The National Sea Grant Law Center is inviting proposals for the Coastal Resilience Program to research laws and policies addressing coastal resilience challenges such as sea level rise and flooding. With a funding cap of $150,000 over two years, this initiative aims to assess the effectiveness of existing policies and promote informed decision-making in coastal management. Up to two projects will be selected for funding, supporting innovative solutions to enhance community resilience against environmental threats.

Project Lead The Way is offering a rolling grant for schools to implement the PLTW Biomedical Science program for the 2026-2029 academic years. Eligible schools can receive up to $14,000 to cover participation fees and training costs. This grant encourages public, private, and charter schools across the U.S. to enhance their science curriculum, supporting students with engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Schools must commit to offering specific courses during the grant period to qualify for funding.

The Recycling Grant Funding for K-12 Schools, provided by the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services, supports school districts in establishing waste reduction, recycling, and composting programs. This initiative not only conserves resources and bolsters the state's recycling efforts but also instills sustainability lessons in students. Through grant funding and technical assistance, schools can enhance their recycling programs, promote awareness of solid waste issues, and encourage responsible consumer behavior among students. Annual applications are encouraged.

The State of South Carolina is an entitlement state, as designated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development HUD, and receives federal formula funding to address housing and community development needs statewide. 

The Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) Program addresses the need for emergency shelter by funding shelters who provide services outlined by HUD to those who are currently homeless. The State Office of Economic Opportunity works closely with all four regional CoCs to identify needs and direct funds for emergency shelter services. 

The ESG program is a competitive grant issued each year to community-based shelters and traditional housing facilities, non-profit organizations that provide housing and counseling assistance to the state's homeless population and to those at-risk of becoming homeless.

The SCAC Term Arts Education Project Grants support quality arts education for preschool and K-12 students during the 2025-2026 academic year. The grants aim to enhance access to arts education, integrate arts with school curricula, and address South Carolina’s educational standards. Eligible applicants include colleges, local governments, and nonprofit organizations. Priority is given to projects serving underserved communities and addressing learning loss caused by COVID-19, ensuring a broad impact on students' educational development.

The SC Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) offers year-round applications to enhance conservation efforts on agricultural lands. It aids producers in improving grazing, increasing crop resilience, and developing wildlife habitats through custom-designed plans. Participants can receive annual payments for implementing new practices and maintaining existing efforts. CSP is the largest conservation program in the U.S., helping landowners achieve better environmental outcomes while improving their operations. Eligible applicants must meet specific land and income criteria.

The Professional Development and Artistic Planning Grants, offered by South Arts, support the professional growth of presenters, programmers, and curators in the Southern U.S. These grants facilitate travel to conferences, workshops, and other opportunities to enhance organizational capacity and program design. Emphasizing diversity and inclusion, South Arts encourages applications from organizations led by BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disabled individuals. Funding covers travel, training, and related expenses, promoting equitable access to professional development.

Roche Corporate Donations and Philanthropy (CDP) focuses on impactful projects that foster sustainable development, engage employees, and leverage Roche's expertise. Their philanthropic efforts prioritize humanitarian, educational, environmental, and cultural initiatives, aiming to build stronger communities and support innovative projects. Eligibility is limited to local organizations, while ineligible projects include those with political or religious ties. The foundation strives to create a positive societal impact through collaboration and strategic partnerships.

The Van Metre Companies Foundation Grants support 501(c)(3) charitable organizations in education, medical, and human welfare services. With a legacy of nearly 70 years, Van Metre prioritizes innovation and community involvement, ensuring financial stability while delivering exceptional value through technology. Recognized as a Best Place to Work, their culture empowers employees and fosters a collaborative environment, reflecting a commitment to excellence and strategic growth in the Northern Virginia market.

The NRCS' Feral Swine Eradication and Control Pilot Program for FY 2026 aims to combat the environmental and agricultural threats posed by invasive feral swine. With over $3.4 billion in annual damage attributed to these species, the program seeks to mitigate their impact on ecosystems and human health. Funded by the USDA, this initiative targets states with high feral swine populations, emphasizing collaborative efforts with State Technical Committees to implement effective control measures.

The SCAC District Arts Support Grants provide essential funding of up to $25,000 per year for two years to South Carolina school districts. These grants aim to promote standards-based arts education, ensuring that creative writing, dance, music, theatre, media arts, and visual arts are integral to daily instruction. Priority is given to districts with fewer ABC schools and those without ABC grant recipients, fostering an inclusive arts curriculum across the state.

The FY26 Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR) aims to enhance research capabilities in eligible states by increasing the number of university researchers and institutions conducting relevant science and engineering research. Sponsored by the Department of Defense, this program will fund multiyear awards to promote research aligned with national security needs. Applications require a multi-stage submission process, emphasizing early registration and timely proposal submissions.

The FY26 Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR) Capacity Building opportunity aims to enhance the capabilities of university researchers in eligible states. Managed by the DoD, this initiative focuses on increasing the number of researchers capable of conducting relevant science and engineering research. The program also seeks to strengthen institutions of higher education and improve their competitiveness for federal research funding, ultimately fostering long-term growth in financial assistance for scientific research.

Scholarships

Several different scholarship funds have been established by individuals, companies, and organizations wanting to assist individuals with furthering their education. All qualified applicants will be graduating high school seniors except for renewal options specifically noted.

Irvin Cauthen Scholarship

Seniors from Anderson, Oconee, or Pickens County who plan to major in business or engineering at Anderson University, Florida State University, Clemson University or Georgia Tech are qualified. This scholarship is renewable.

Scholarship funds are awarded for one academic year. A renewal application is required for each academic year with demonstration of being in good standing at their school of choice.
