About
Interventional radiologists create and introduce novel, minimally invasive procedures and devices that help solve some of our toughest medical challenges. To continue this rich history of innovation in IR, the purpose of this award is to fund compelling, novel ideas that lead to improved health outcomes in IR.
Innovation, for this purpose, is broadly defined as any use of emerging methods, new devices, new procedures or new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and nanotechnology, that display an exceptional degree of potential for transforming and advancing the specialty of interventional radiology.
The Annual Meeting Research Award Committee selects one recipient for this award each year.

Thomas E. and Marian L. Overby Scholarship
Amount
This scholarship is to provide financial support for an individual pursuing a degree in the field of nursing. The scholarship recipient shall be under the age of 50 seeking education beyond the high school level to become a nurse or certified nursing assistant.
Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation Inc
The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation is the only nonprofit charity organization dedicated to ending mesothelioma, and the suffering caused by this cancer, by:
The mission of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation spans across four distinct areas: through research, education, support, and advocacy the Foundation seeks to eradicate the vicious effects of mesothelioma. Led by the Board of Directors, our team works collaboratively to develop and administer our programs, and to fundraise to pay for those programs (the Foundation is funded by private individual and corporate contributions only — it does not receive any government funding).
Bret A. Rosenthal Patient Assistance Fund
Patients diagnosed with cancer at a younger age often face greater financial burdens. This is a time in a patient’s life when they are raising a family, starting a career, or have not accumulated savings. For patients 49 and under, the Foundation administers the Bret A. Rosenthal Patient Assistance Fund grant program. This program is made possible by the generosity of the Rosenthal family.

Ann & Wayne Hinchman Scholarship
Wayne and Anna (Ann) Hinchman were both born in Adams County in 1915. Wayne graduated from Geneva High School and Manchester College. He taught history, science, and physical education and coached. He helped found the Winchester High School track and football programs. He was principal of Willard Elementary School for 35 years. He was also a long- time referee for high school and college basketball games. Wayne served as Deacon and Elder for the First Presbyterian Church of Winchester. Anna Hinchman was a graduate of Berne High School. She was president of the Women’s Association of the First Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday School and was the director of Vacation Bible School. Ann was also a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and loved working in her beautiful garden that she kept at her home for decades.

Jay Gower Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to graduating senior(s) of Mississinawa Valley Schools. Must have demonstrated academic ability to do vocational or college level work. The student must be accepted or enrolled in a fully accredited vocational or college/university of his/her choice. In the event the selected student cannot fulfill the guideline requirements prior to the beginning of the school year, then the first alternate shall be the recipient.

Diversity Leadership Fellowship
The Diversity Leadership Fellowship identifies and motivates minority psychiatry residents or those interested in minority and vulnerable populations to become well equipped to teach, administer, and provide culturally competent, evidence based mental health and substance abuse services to diverse minority groups and at-risk populations. These populations include—but are not limited to—American Indians/Native Alaskans, Asian Americans/Native Hawaiians/Native Pacific Islanders, Blacks/African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, LGBTQ, and religious minorities. In 2025, the Community Foundation of Madison & Jefferson County awarded over $233,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors of the county’s public and private high schools. Nearly 50 different students earned money toward their college costs. Scholarships are available for a variety of applicants. Some are specific to schools, majors, need, or interests.
CFMJC scholarships may be used for tuition and related expenses like fees and required equipment at accredited colleges and universities. Room and board are not covered.
