Youth Awards

The 28-year-old Youth Awards have recognized thousands of high school students from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C., for their achievements in the classroom, community, and focus on career paths in STEM fields, entrepreneurship, media, public service, and other categories.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze recipients are selected in each category and receive a one-time innovation grant to fund their college education or support a community service effort addressing a social issue. Additionally, one national awardee is selected in each category.

Once selected, recipients are celebrated in virtual ceremonies and become part of the LOFT (Leaders On Fast Track) Network, a collective of 300,000+ students and young professionals with access to mentors, resources, networking opportunities, workshops, symposia, summits, internships, and full-time positions with Fortune 500 companies.

With a mission to empower youth leadership, Youth Service America provides Virgin Islands young people with US $250 - US $500 to design and lead community service, advocacy, and philanthropy projects. Youth ages 5–25, including those in scouting organizations, can apply for Youth Service Month and Global Youth Service Day activities that engage diverse peer volunteers.

Youth organizations, schools, and youth-led groups in the Virgin Islands can receive US $1,000 We Serve to Remember 9/11 Day of Service Grants to run youth-led community service projects. Youth Service America funds projects held around September 11, 2026, that honor 9/11 victims and engage at least 100 youth volunteers, including those not usually asked to serve.

Youth development and leadership organizations in the Virgin Islands can access funding to support central Minnesota high school seniors pursuing out-of-state, four-year colleges through the Ernest Morgan Memorial Scholarship. CommunityGiving awards US $5,000 to a student leader or student athlete, which may benefit scouting groups that sponsor or recommend eligible students.

Scouting and youth-serving organizations in the Virgin Islands planning youth-led service and remembrance projects can apply for Youth Service America’s We Serve to Remember Grants. With a mission to activate young people as changemakers, Youth Service America provides US $1,000 to support 9/11 Day of Service activities engaging at least 100 youth volunteers.

Sports Matter Mission

We believe that sports change lives. In addition to physical and mental health benefits, sports have the power to change our perspectives, our character and our communities for the better. This core belief has guided DICK’S Sporting Goods and The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation since the beginning – but not everyone has the same access to play. Through grants and other support, The DICK’S Foundation Sports Matter Program helps under-resourced 501c3 organizations, schools and community teams across all 50 states provide opportunities for youth to play sports.

Sports Matter Program

We Believe Every Kid Deserves a Chance to Play

The Sports Matter Program focuses on supporting youth sports in under-resourced communities.

All grant applications are made subject to review of the applying organization’s reputation and activities, and its agreement to comply with applicable terms and conditions. 

Virgin Islands youth pursuing nursing or related college studies can access funding through Scranton Area Foundation by applying for the Jefferson Scholarship. Students demonstrating strong academics, leadership, community service, good citizenship, and financial need may be eligible, including those active in scouting or other youth development and leadership programs.

Youth-led climate justice and socio-environmental groups in the Virgin Islands can seek up to US $40,000 to support local or national organizing, leadership, and movement-building work. With a mission to strengthen youth climate justice organizing, Climate Group provides participatory, flexible grants that may benefit scouting-related youth leadership initiatives focused on environmental justice and sustainability.

Virgin Islands youth development and leadership organizations can access funding through the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation’s Scott Chadwick Scholarship, which awards US $2,500 to emerging leaders. Graduate or undergraduate students who are Cobb County residents and active in civic, nonprofit, educational, faith-based, arts, military, or justice organizations may be eligible.

Students pursuing higher education or vocational training who graduated from Quillayute Valley or Cape Flattery school districts can receive more than US $2,000 to attend accredited colleges, universities, or career schools. Community Foundation for Southwest Washington provides this scholarship, and youth involved in leadership or scouting in the Virgin Islands may review criteria for potential alignment.

High school students in grades 9–11 who attend school in Big Sky and are at least 15 by June 1, 2025 can apply for Yellowstone Club Community Foundation’s Big Bald Dave Adventure Scholarship, which provides a summer outdoor adventure and service trip. Youth leadership, volunteerism, and passion for the outdoors are key selection criteria.

High school seniors, college students, and non-traditional students pursuing criminal justice or first responder studies can apply for CommunityGiving’s Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation Scholarship, awarding US $2,000 for higher education costs. While based in Minnesota, youth leadership and public safety–focused students, including those in scouting programs, may find this opportunity relevant alongside Virgin Islands options.

Young people ages 13 to 19 in the Berkshire Taconic region can receive US $200 - US $800 to pursue summer arts enrichment, including apprenticeships, internships, or learning a new art form. Grants from Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation cover tuition, art supplies, or travel and living costs, and youth leadership programs like scouting may be eligible if arts-focused.

Nonprofit organizations running youth-focused programs can apply for project support from the Eleanor & Henry Jansen Foundation, a supporting organization of Chuckanut Health Foundation. With a mission to strengthen youth development and leadership, it provides funding primarily for initiatives in Whatcom County; Virgin Islands scouting groups with relevant projects may be eligible.

Native or Indigenous youth leaders ages 14–24 in the U.S., including those in the Virgin Islands, can apply for the Aspen Institute’s Champions for Change leadership program. Participants receive experience-based learning, tailored advocacy training, and connection to the Center for Native American Youth network to strengthen youth development and leadership efforts.

Youth-serving organizations in the Virgin Islands that support high-achieving juniors at eligible U.S. public high schools can access funding for youth leadership and civic engagement projects through the Bezos Scholars Program. Grants from Bezos Family Foundation provide more than US $1,000 for student-led Community Change Projects, plus leadership development, mentoring for educators, and college advising.

Female high school seniors active in Girl Scouts and graduating from a Smith County, Texas public, private, or homeschool program can receive US $1,000 for college expenses at any U.S. institution. Grants from East Texas Communities Foundation help youth development and leadership; financial need (FAFSA), 3.0 GPA, and strong citizenship and service are required.

Nonprofit organizations running STEM education, youth development, or adult job-readiness programs in the Virgin Islands can access funding through AFL Global’s community grants. AFL Community Grants support quality STEM learning, healthy and engaged youth, and life enrichment and advancement initiatives, which may benefit scouting organizations with aligned educational or leadership programming.

Students involved in youth development and leadership activities in the Virgin Islands and beyond can receive scholarships to support college, vocational, or graduate study. Grants from Chick-fil-A help Virgin Islands youth development and leadership applicants cover tuition, fees, books, and other education-related expenses at accredited institutions, along with a year-long mentoring and leadership program.

Nonprofit organizations running youth development, evangelism, or holistic ministry projects can seek project-specific funding that may benefit scouting-related programs in the Virgin Islands and beyond. Grants from Festus and Helen Stacy Foundation help ministries worldwide with leadership development, children and youth initiatives, Christian media and technology, and efforts serving the poor, marginalized, and oppressed. Applications are accepted year-round.

Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation

The Foundation was established in September 1977 by Dr. Arnold O. and Mrs. Mabel Beckman to give back to the scientific community.

“The mission of the Foundation is to support leading edge research, in the fields of chemistry and life sciences, broadly interpreted, and particularly to foster the invention of methods, instruments, and materials that open up new avenues of research and application in these sciences and related disciplines. My preference is to favor young investigators, new ideas, and a variety of projects rather than fund large, established ones of long duration.”

"Beckman Family" Awardee Community Support Grants

The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation’s "Beckman Family" Awardee Community Support Grants are open to all current and former Foundation grant awardees and Executive Committee members, specifically from the Beckman Scholars Program, Arnold O. Beckman Postdoctoral Fellowship, Beckman Young Investigator, and Instrument Grants programs.

As a current or former Beckman awardee or Executive Committee member, if you are actively engaged as a volunteer or Board member in a youth STEM or STEAM organization in your local area, you may apply to this program for funding for a particular project with that organization.

Funding Priorities

Projects should be aligned with the Foundation’s aim of “supporting young scientists today for tomorrow’s breakthrough discoveries” and oriented toward achieving positive outcomes in at least one of the Foundation’s current funding priorities:

• Engaging youth in hands-on science and math activities to encourage curiosity and student-driven exploration and learning.
• Using technology to engage youth in STEM/STEAM.
• Promoting the Beckmans’ legacy of technology innovation and leadership amongst youth.

In addition, the following considerations should be addressed in a proposal for funding:

• Where possible, the Foundation’s contribution to a project or activity should help to build capacity within the nonprofit organization to continue the activity beyond the one-time grant.
• The Awardee/Executive Committee member should discuss how the program will increase access to STEM/STEAM opportunities for the target audience.
• The costs associated with the request should relate to a stand-alone STEM/STEAM project, event, or activity and not part of a broader program, event, or target audience outside the Awardee’s or Executive Committee member's local area.
• Youth registration to participate in the STEM/STEAM project, event, or activity should be open to all in the local area, when possible.

Process & Timeline

Grant funds are directly issued to the organization by the Foundation and include for acknowledgement an indication that the gift was made because their volunteer or Board member is a Beckman Awardee or Executive Committee member.

Requests must be submitted by the Beckman Awardee on behalf of a U.S. nonprofit 501(c)(3), or equivalent, organization exclusively serving youth in their local community. As a matter of policy, the Foundation does not provide grants to non-U.S. organizations or institutions. This program defines the terms “youth” and “youths” as individual(s) 17 years of age or younger.

Council of Independent Colleges (CIC)Founded in 1956, the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) is an association of nonprofit independent colleges and universities, state-based councils, and higher education affiliates that works to support college and university leadership, advance institutional excellence, and enhance public understanding of independent higher education’s contributions to society.

CIC is the major national organization that focuses on providing services to leaders of independent colleges and universities and state-based councils. CIC offers conferences, seminars, publications, and other programs and services that help institutions improve educational quality, administrative and financial performance, student outcomes, and institutional visibility.NetVUE Grants for Fostering Leadership for Communities of FaithThis grant program provides funding for institutions that are working to augment their support for students who are considering possible callings to leadership roles in communities of faith.

Grant funds should be used to develop or extend programming for students, and/or professional development for faculty members and staff, with the goal of connecting students to local faith communities and supporting them as they explore and discern their callings. Initiatives may be developed within or across a variety of academic departments and campus offices, and should involve leaders of one or more faith communities near campus. NetVUE Grants for Fostering Leadership for Communities of Faith may be requested in amounts ranging up to $60,000 for use over two years to develop new programs, or to strengthen existing programs, that support students as they consider vocations of leadership for communities of faith.

Ecolab Foundation

Ecolab Foundation is a philanthropic arm of Ecolab dedicated to advancing community well-being through programs that promote education, environmental stewardship, and public health. Its mission is to create positive social impact by supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and foster sustainable development.

The foundation’s primary areas of engagement include educational programs that enhance learning and workforce readiness, environmental projects that encourage conservation and sustainability, and health-related initiatives that improve hygiene and safety. It focuses on partnerships that deliver measurable benefits and long-term impact.

Ecolab Foundation operates primarily within the United States while also supporting global initiatives aligned with its corporate responsibility goals. Its geographic scope reflects a commitment to addressing local community needs and contributing to broader sustainability efforts.

The foundation collaborates with nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and community-based groups. It prioritizes partnerships that demonstrate strong governance, clear objectives, and alignment with its mission of education, health, and environmental responsibility.

Ecolab Match Program

Ecolab established the Volunteer and Community Relations programs to encourage and reward Ecolab employee and alumni involvement in the communities where people live and work. There are three programs including the Board Leadership Volunteer Grant.

Board Leadership Volunteer Grant

Ecolab will donate up to $500 USD annually to a qualifying 501(c)3 organization (some restrictions apply) for which an eligible person serves on the Board of Directors. 

Focus Areas of Giving

• Youth and Education: programs that promote youth development, particularly for programs that ensure all students are successful
• Civic & Community Development: affordable housing, work readiness, crisis assistance and hunger relief
• Environment & Conservation: hands-on environmental learning programs, environment and conservation organizations
• Arts & Culture: arts education for children and youth as well as support for museums and the performing arts

The Leonard J. Capuana Scholarship, awarded by the Leonard J. Capuana Scholarship Fund, supports students from Herkimer and Oneida counties who demonstrate leadership qualities and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. Established by the Leonard J. Capuana West Utica Democratic Club, this scholarship aims to empower graduates planning to attend college or university. Through partnerships with organizations like Utica Dollars for Scholars, it seeks to enhance educational opportunities and foster community growth.

American Camp Association

The American Camp Association is a community of camp professionals who, for over 100 years, have joined together to share our knowledge and experience and to ensure the quality of camp programs. Because of our diverse 10,000 plus membership and our exceptional programs, we’re uniquely able to unleash the life-changing power of camp. Our work gives more children and adults the opportunity to learn powerful lessons in community, character-building, skill development, and healthy living — lessons that can be learned nowhere else.

Character at Camp Grant Program

The purpose of this program is to provide financial support, training, and technical assistance for selected day and overnight camps in the U.S. who are interested in starting, enhancing, expanding, or celebrating character development programs or projects. By the end of the Character at Camp initiative, we anticipate camps in the US will represent one of the largest and most potent contexts for character development in the learning and development ecosystem.

Eligible organizations can apply for a Planning Grant, an Implementation Grant, or a Network Implementation Grant.

Network Implementation Grants

Network Implentation Grants are designed for organizations that serve as the coordinating entity for 6+ camps that are eager to implement a character program or project with their on-site program teams.

The purpose of this program is to provide financial support, training, and technical assistance for selected day and overnight camps in the U.S. who are interested in starting, enhancing, expanding, or celebrating character development programs or projects. By the end of the Character at Camp initiative, we anticipate camps in the US will represent one of the largest and most potent contexts for character development in the learning and development ecosystem.

Eligible organizations can apply for a Planning Grant, an Implementation Grant, or a Network Implementation Grant.

Implementation Grants

Implementation Grants are designed for organizations that have a specific character program or project in mind and sufficient capacity to successfully implement that program or project starting in 2027. 

We welcome both individual and joint applications to the Implementation Grant Program.

Individual Applications 

Individual applications are for programs and projects that will be implemented by and for a single organization. Single organizations can propose programs and projects to be implemented across multiple sites — this would be considered an individual application as there is a single coordinating entity, and the small number of sites (less than six) operate more or less the same within this organization.

Joint Applications

Joint applications are for programs and projects that will be implemented by up to five organizations that will receive one grant award to implement programs and projects across each of the organizations. In this case, the organizations are either distinct and functionally independent from each other or are sites that operate more or less independently or with different programmatic foci from one another. One organization will submit the application and serve as the primary point of contact. Applicants submitting a joint application will be asked to identify the additional organizations in the application and to reflect budgetary allocations to these organizations

Planning Grants are designed for organizations that need a year of planning, training, and capacity building before they can develop and implement a full character program or project.
