The DC Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE) was created to address gun violence in the District of Columbia. The ONSE aims to foster community-based strategies to help prevent violence and increase public safety. To support this mission, ONSE announces the availability of funding offered through the Violence Intervention Initiative (VI). The VI division supports District residents in reducing gun-related violence in the community and focuses on innovative ways to interrupt violence. 

Violence Prevention Mini-Grant

The goal of this RFA is to promote and ensure the fairest, most efficient means to obtain the benefits of the most qualified, responsive, and responsible proposals.

Funding is targeted for individuals between the ages of 12 – 35.

Purpose

The primary focus of the RFA is to support initiatives that contribute to the prevention of violence in the District of Columbia. We seek creative and impactful proposals addressing the root causes of violence, promoting community engagement, and fostering a safer and more resilient environment. DC Immunization Coalitioin Funding Grant

The District of Columbia, Department of Health (DOH), Community Health Administration (CHA), is seeking proposals from qualified applicants to build and sustain a coalition of immunization stakeholders to promote vaccination of the District's residents and visitors. This funding is available through the Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). 

The Scholar-in-Training Awards, presented by the American Association for Cancer Research, recognize outstanding young investigators who are first authors of abstracts submitted to the AACR Annual Meeting. With over 5,000 awards since 1986, this competitive program supports attendance at the meeting, promoting innovative cancer research. Applicants must secure AACR membership and adhere to eligibility criteria, ensuring diversity in research areas. The application deadline is November 18, 2025, with strong encouragement for emerging researchers to apply.

The William L. Fisher Congressional Geoscience Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for individuals to engage with the legislative process in Washington, D.C., for 12 months. This fellowship, with a stipend of $78,000, is designed for candidates with a strong geoscience background and excellent communication skills. Applicants must have a Ph.D. by the appointment date and be U.S. citizens or eligible to work in the U.S. This position aims to apply geoscientific knowledge to federal policy issues.

The England Family Foundation Grant aims to amplify local solutions for inclusive prosperity in Washington, DC. It welcomes 501(c)(3) organizations to apply for general operating grants that align with its strategic priorities, including economic justice and community safety. The foundation prioritizes funding for organizations addressing systemic inequalities and fostering leadership among youth. Grants are awarded twice a year, with a commitment to reducing gun violence and supporting vulnerable communities. Interested applicants can submit inquiries via an online portal.

Sustainable Communities Grants Program

National Park Trust, in partnership with Pepco, is excited to offer the 2026 Sustainable Communities Grants Program. Municipalities and nonprofit organizations from across the Pepco service area in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland, and Washington, DC are eligible. This program provides $100,000 in support for environmental stewardship and community resilience projects.

• Environmental Stewardship Grants: Open space is a major driver of quality of life in the DC Metro region. These projects will enhance resiliency in this region by stewarding open space and protected lands, which protect water quality in streams and rivers, mitigate urban heat island effects, and promote social benefits such as health, a sense of place, and community connections.
• Community Resiliency Grants:Though the Washington metropolitan region is known for its rich diversity, it remains one of the most socioeconomically segregated urban areas. As a result, many communities do not have the resources to prepare for or mitigate the impacts of extreme weather or other emergencies. These grants will focus on projects that demonstrate innovation in providing a safe and reliable resource that minimizes potential impacts to the community during a time of emergency.

The ASCAP Foundation's Jay Gorney Award honors songwriters who create original music with socially conscious themes. L3Harris Technologies is expanding its partnership with Project Lead The Way (PLTW) to enhance STEM education for PreK-12 students. This initiative aims to support schools in launching or expanding PLTW Computer Science programs for the 2026-2027 academic year, focusing on diverse and economically challenged communities across multiple states. Eligible schools can receive grants to implement new courses, additional class periods, or teacher training, fostering a strong foundation in technology and engineering.

L3Harris Technologies collaborates with Project Lead The Way (PLTW) to ignite interest in STEM among PreK-12 students. This initiative provides grants for schools to implement PLTW Gateway programs starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. Eligible public and charter schools in specific counties will receive a total of $20,000 over two years to support the development of innovative educational programs. Established in 2002, the Foundation focuses on enhancing the potential of youth aged 16-25 in select North American cities. Grants ranging from $50,000 to $25,000 are available for non-profit organizations that support initiatives fostering leadership, self-reliance, and social consciousness. The Foundation seeks impactful projects that address the future of communities and individuals, ensuring a secure environment for the next generation.

Women's Bar Association Foundation

Founded in 1981, the mission of the WBAF Foundation is to leverage the generosity of lawyers and friends to support nonprofits that serve the legal and related needs of women and girls in the DC Metropolitan community.

Community Grants

To further this mission, the WBAF Foundation supports community non-profit organizations in the D.C. Metropolitan Area through its annual grant program. 

Grantees have used our funding to serve the critical legal needs of women and girls in the DC region on issues of domestic violence, employment, immigration, sexual assault, family law and more. The WBA Foundation welcomes proposals that are consistent with our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and will further our mission. The WBA Foundation is interested in funding a diverse group of projects and organizations. 

Once selected, grantees are expected to participate in the WBA Foundation’s Grant Awards Ceremony and submit a report that provides data and other information on accomplishments achieved during the grant period with WBA Foundation funding. 

The Art Bank Program (ABP) supports local visual artists and nonprofit organizations in DC by acquiring original artwork for its permanent collection. This program aims to enhance public spaces and provide exposure for artists. Eligible applicants include legal residents of DC or those within a 50-mile radius, with requirements for artists and nonprofit galleries to ensure community representation and artistic diversity. The program fosters a vibrant cultural environment and enriches the aesthetic experience in government buildings.
