Gregory D. Spring Perseverance Scholarship

Established in memory of Gregory D. Spring, this scholarship is for a graduating senior from Allegany-Limestone Central School, Ellicottville Central School, Franklinville/Ten Broeck Academy, Portville Central School, Hinsdale Central School or Olean High School with a preference for a student who intends to pursue a degree or certification in a trade or technical program. 

The NIH StrokeNet initiative invites applications for multi-site exploratory and confirmatory clinical trials targeting interventions for stroke prevention, treatment, and recovery. This includes biomarker validation studies and ancillary studies to enhance active research. Successful applicants will collaborate within the NIH StrokeNet framework, with support from the National Coordinating Center and Data Management Center to ensure efficient study implementation and robust statistical analysis. Key deadlines for application submissions span from March 2024 to November 2026.

The SMART Scholarship Program, managed by Scholarship America, provides substantial support to STEM students, offering full tuition, stipends between $30,000 and $46,000, and summer internships at DoD facilities. The Gresham Scholarship Fund offers a $1,000 non-renewable scholarship to support students from the Gresham Community who have been residents for at least three years. Applicants must have completed one semester at an accredited post-secondary institution and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance for college attendance, ensuring that local students can pursue higher education and contribute positively to the community.

The Bernick Family Trades Scholarship, offered by CommunityGiving, aims to support high school seniors pursuing advanced education in technical or community college programs. Ten scholarships of $1,500 each are available. Eligible applicants must live in the Bernick Service Area and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference is given to students in fields related to the Bernick business, such as Mechanics, Transportation, and Accounting. This initiative seeks to empower local youth and foster community growth.

The Never Lose Hoop Fund, established by JC and Joni Hulls, provides grants to support families affected by cancer. The fund aims to enhance the quality of life for children and their families through shared experiences, such as family camps and outdoor activities. Grants are available for those currently battling cancer or who have lost an immediate family member to cancer within the last two years. This initiative helps families create lasting memories and find joy during difficult times.

Mike and Lillian & Charles and Anne Boonstra Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Lillian Boonstra, who established the Mike and Lillian & Charles and Anne Boonstra Scholarship Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. Lillian was born and raised in Muskegon. She married Mike Boonstra, who, along with his brother Charles, owned the Boonstra Brothers Coal Co. on Western Ave for many years. Mike was one of the originators of radio station WMUS, a well-known country music radio station. Mike died a tragic death in 1981. He and Lillian were childless but always had candy for the neighborhood children. They were affectionately known as the candy lady and man. Not only was the Community Foundation a beneficiary of Lillian’s generosity, but also her church and others. The Boonstra Fund will be used to assist students attending any college, university or technical degree program, in addition to those pursuing careers in Christian vocation and service.

The TPC Group Mark of Excellence Scholarship Program, administered by Scholarship America Inc, supports the children of full-time employees pursuing higher education. This initiative aims to eliminate financial barriers and promote educational access for students aged 24 and under. The program encourages academic achievement and assists those planning to enroll in accredited colleges or vocational schools, ensuring that eligible applicants receive the necessary support to realize their educational aspirations.

The Walters Services, Inc. Fabe & Beverly Walters Scholarship Fund, established by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, aims to alleviate the financial burden of higher education for children and spouses of employees under 26. This scholarship supports full-time or part-time students, emphasizing academic achievement, community volunteerism, financial need, and an essay submission. The initiative embodies core values of love, integrity, and teamwork, fostering educational opportunities for future generations.

The College Life Protected Graduate Research Grant supports research that enhances the value of higher education. Focused on systemic risks, it invites proposals on topics like mental health's impact on student success, campus safety compliance, and the effects of medical withdrawals. The grant is open to individuals in postsecondary education, who can re-apply regardless of prior submissions, promoting continued exploration of these critical issues.

The Home Study and Post-Release Services program, led by the Office of Refugee Resettlement, provides critical support for unaccompanied alien children in the U.S. It ensures safe placements with sponsors by conducting thorough home checks and offers ongoing assistance to help children adjust and thrive. This program is vital for the well-being of vulnerable youth navigating complex immigration processes, fostering healthy connections within the community and ensuring their safety during this transitional period.

The Wellroot Family Services Scholarship Program, administered by Scholarship America Inc., supports students in financial need who exhibit academic excellence, leadership, and personal growth. Eligible applicants include high school seniors and current undergraduates with a minimum GPA of 2.0, planning to enroll full-time in accredited institutions. The program emphasizes holistic evaluation, considering academic performance, community involvement, and personal challenges overcome, ensuring that deserving candidates receive the support they need to succeed.

The New Britain-Berlin Rotary Club Scholarships, managed by the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, support graduating seniors from local high schools, including technical schools. Priority is given to INTERACT Club members who demonstrate leadership and community service. This initiative aims to encourage youth to actively engage in their communities and make a positive impact through volunteerism. The scholarship reflects the Foundation's commitment to fostering educational attainment and community development.

The Climate Smart Communities Initiative (CSCI) Grant supports US-based projects aimed at enhancing community resilience against climate change. With a budget of $1.5-2 million, grants typically range from $75,000 to $115,000. CSCI prioritizes projects that focus on historically disinvested populations facing climate vulnerabilities, emphasizing equity, nature-based solutions, and community capacity building. The initiative encourages collaboration between climate adaptation practitioners and local government entities to address climate impacts effectively.

The SOT Undergraduate Research Award supports outstanding undergraduate students presenting original toxicology research at the SOT Annual Meeting. Awardees receive recognition, complimentary registration, lodging, and travel funding up to $800. This award encourages students to pursue graduate studies in toxicology or related fields and includes mentorship opportunities during the meeting, fostering their academic and professional growth.

The Women's Initiative for Screening and Health (WISH) aims to enhance women's health by improving access to preventive services. It focuses on updating HRSA-supported guidelines, increasing awareness of these guidelines, and promoting their adoption in clinical practice. By collaborating with healthcare providers, academic institutions, and patient organizations, WISH strives to implement a comprehensive strategy that benefits women's health across their lifespan.

CAAM Fellowship

Maker and project development opportunity with a focus on nurturing mentor-fellow relationships within the Asian American documentary community.

The CAAM Fellowship Program aims to support documentary filmmakers developing Asian American stories by pairing selected Fellows with accomplished professionals as Mentors for six months to nurture both a project and the Fellow’s career in documentary filmmaking. 

These Mentors will be working one on one with their Fellows on their documentary projects and engage in virtual and in-person opportunities to nurture the full cohort. 

This year’s CAAM Fellowship is an opportunity to support filmmakers in the Midwest, a region that has been home to Asian Americans since before the U.S. was founded, especially for key sub-communities, such as the Hmong American community in Minneapolis, Michigan’s Muslim American communities, along with many others. This Fellowship continues CAAM’s commitment to uplifting nuanced, community-centered storytelling across the country.

The Fellowship includes one-on-one mentor meetings, monthly cohort gatherings, and participation in programs like the CAAMFest Filmmaker Summit and Ready, Set, Pitch! — building a lasting community of documentary makers.

UNCF Health Careers Scholarship

The UNCF Health Careers Scholarship Program is designed to assist in the development of a more diverse workforce in health professions in Greater Cleveland. University Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic and Kaiser Foundation are partnering with UNCF to develop an endowed scholarship for students of CSSM (Cleveland School of Science and Medicine) at John Hay High School who plan to enter the health professions.

Eligible students will receive a $5,000 merit-based scholarship in the Academic Year 2026-2027. Award recipients may be eligible for renewals for the subsequent years provided they continue to meet the criteria.

Christopher H Knorr Memorial Scholarship

In July of 2022, Chris Knorr unexpectedly passed away. Chris Knorr was a loving father, baseball/softball/basketball coach in the area, an active member of his church, and a friendly face to all in the community. Chris always believed everyone should follow their heart and make an impact in any way possible. Our goal is to raise money for scholarships for South Carroll, Century and Liberty High School that goes to 1 or 2 seniors at each school who is involved in the community and made an impact, and to continue on his legacy.

• Scholarships are one time only.
• The amount of the award will vary based upon the earnings of the fund, minimum $500 per scholarship.
• The money shall be transmitted by the Foundation directly to the desired college or university and applied directly to the student's tuition and books. The monies shall not be remitted to the scholarship winner.

The Mabel M. Witmer Scholarship Fund, managed by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, supports students pursuing education in trade or technical schools. This fund aims to assist residents of Cumberland or Franklin County with financial need, especially those who have relevant work experience in their chosen field. The National Institute on Aging (NIA) is set to announce a funding opportunity for research on the cerebellum's role in cognitive and emotional functions during aging and Alzheimer's disease. This initiative emphasizes the need for studies that enhance understanding of cerebellar physiology and neuroanatomy in these contexts, welcoming diverse research approaches. Researchers are encouraged to prepare for this new opportunity to investigate potential interventions aimed at cognitive preservation and delaying Alzheimer's onset.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose High School Scholarship, administered by the East Texas Communities Foundation, supports graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education in any field at a college in the United States. Applicants must demonstrate financial need through FAFSA and are encouraged to have a background in varsity athletics. This scholarship reflects the foundation's commitment to empowering students and helping them achieve their educational aspirations.

The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin awards nearly $300,000 in annual scholarships to support Central Wisconsin students’ educational needs. 

The Community Foundation proudly supports students in Portage and Waushara counties with over $325,000 in scholarships annually, thanks to the generosity of local individuals and families. Award amounts range from $500 to $40,000, opening doors to educational opportunities.
