Awards & Recognition

We’ve established several awards to recognize and support Hertz community members who are accelerating solutions to significant real-world challenges, either through their individual careers or volunteering to strengthen the Hertz Foundation’s work. In addition to providing financial and professional support at a critical time, we also hope to generate more awareness within the Hertz community and inspire collaborations that build on the momentum.

Hertz Foundation Travel Fund

The Hertz Foundation Travel Fund provides financial support to Hertz Fellows to advance their professional growth through conference travel and interdisciplinary engagement. Awardees receive a lump sum of $2,000 for domestic or $5,000 for international travel.

Supporting professional development

Established in 2025, this funding provides Fellows with critical support to enhance their career and professional development. Funding is designated to support travel to attend technical conferences, interdisciplinary or entrepreneurial convenings and workshops or seminars that catalyze new career paths, research directions or cross-sector collaborations.

The Native American Library Services Basic Grant (NAB) aims to enhance library services for Native Communities. By supporting the acquisition of materials, programming, and staff training, the program empowers Tribal libraries to adapt to evolving information needs. This initiative fosters knowledge centers that contribute to community wellness and cultural preservation. Through targeted project activities, the NAB program ensures that libraries effectively meet their users' diverse needs, promoting accessibility and engagement across the nation.

Pablo's Business Directed Giving (BDG) is an initiative by Pablo Foundation to support local 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the Eau Claire area. With contributions capped at $2,000 per quarter, the program empowers a diverse Care Committee from Pablo Group to identify organizations that align with the Foundation's mission of promoting sustainability in housing, health, education, and the arts, while emphasizing equity and inclusion in community development.

The Transport Phenomena (TP) program, supported by the National Science Foundation, aims to advance fundamental research in the transport of mass, momentum, energy, and species across various scales. Emphasizing collaboration, the program aims to develop scalable solutions and measurable public health outcomes, leveraging resources and expertise across institutions to address climate-related health challenges effectively.

The W. J. Blanchet Scholarship, offered by The Community Foundation for a Greater Richmond, supports graduating high school seniors from Northumberland County who demonstrate financial need and a commitment to academic excellence and community service. Preference is given to members of local churches. This scholarship aims to empower students to pursue higher education at accredited institutions, fostering educational growth and community engagement in the region.

The Clarence W. Seavers Citizenship Scholarship supports graduates from Erie County, Ohio high schools pursuing degrees in Political Science or Computer Science/Technology. With a minimum GPA requirement of 3.0, this scholarship can be renewed for up to three additional years at the discretion of the Scholarship Advisory Committee, without considering financial need. It emphasizes leadership, spirituality, and community service, aiming to empower students to contribute positively to their communities.

The Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation Impact Grant aims to enhance the quality of life in Dodge County by supporting impactful projects. Grants, ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, focus on endowment building, capital projects, capacity building, community leadership, community betterment, and startup initiatives. The Foundation exclusively funds organizations serving Dodge County, ensuring that each grant contributes to local growth and sustainability, while fostering innovative solutions to pressing community needs.

The UCAR Next Generation Fellowship offers graduate students a unique opportunity to engage in Earth System Science research while addressing societal impacts. With a $40,000 fellowship over two years, participants can expect mentorship from UCAR leaders and professional development training. The John Jamison Iron Mountain Education Fund provides scholarships to encourage educational pursuits among the children of Iron Mountain employees. Eligibility includes dependent children of full-time employees at the Director level and below, along with deceased employees' children. The Karim Thomas Ziyad Memorial Engineering Scholarship Fund supports students from Washington County or nearby areas pursuing a career in engineering, especially in Mechanical Engineering. Established in memory of Karim Thomas Ziyad, this scholarship aims to empower deserving students to achieve their educational goals. The fund is part of the Community Foundation of Washington County Maryland, which offers numerous scholarships to enhance educational opportunities for local students.

The Partnership Agreement Grants for FY 2027, offered by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), support state and regional arts agencies in enhancing community arts accessibility. These grants leverage federal funding to attract significantly more state contributions, fostering a robust federal-state partnership. Each state arts agency develops a tailored arts plan, ensuring that local priorities and goals are effectively addressed. The Paul Calabresi Career Development Award for Clinical Oncology aims to enhance the training of clinician-scientists in clinical and translational cancer research. This funding opportunity encourages the career growth of researchers but does not permit Scholars to lead independent clinical trials. Instead, it allows participation in clinical trials under the mentorship of an experienced researcher, fostering a collaborative approach to cancer research.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking to enhance the Strategies to Innovate EmeRgENcy Care Clinical Trials Network (SIREN) through the establishment of a Clinical Coordinating Center (CCC) and Data Coordinating Center (DCC). This initiative aims to improve emergency care outcomes by supporting trials that focus on effective treatments for non-stroke neurological and cardiovascular emergencies. Although applications are not currently being solicited, this notice allows potential applicants to prepare collaborative proposals.

The NEA Foundation's Student Success Grants support educators in creating innovative learning experiences that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and cultural understanding among students. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is launching the PROSPECT Program to enhance education in critical technologies, targeting an investment of up to $100 million. This initiative aims to develop a skilled workforce across the critical minerals and materials sector, supporting the entire value chain from resource extraction to recycling. By fostering collaboration among academia, industry, and national laboratories, the program seeks to strengthen U.S. economic competitiveness and energy security.

The Dennis Schuman Charitable Foundation Grant supports qualified Jewish organizations and charities in the United States, focusing on arts, education, health, human services, public benefit, and religion. Established by Dennis Schuman, the foundation continues his philanthropic legacy, providing funding exclusively for charitable, religious, scientific, literary, or educational purposes. Organizations must be exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code to qualify for funding.

The 2025 Vilcek Foundation Grants aim to support nonprofit organizations that celebrate immigrant contributions to the arts and sciences. Grants will be prioritized for new partners and those in states without prior funding. For high school seniors or college students who reside in Green or Noble TOWNSHIPS (not county) in Noble County who are pursuing a college education in music, medicine or religion. One-time payment of $3,500. May reapply.
