Arizona Criminal Justice Commission

The Arizona Criminal Justice Commission is a statutorily authorized entity mandated to carry out various coordinating, monitoring and reporting functions regarding the administration and management of criminal justice programs in Arizona. In accordance with statutory guidelines, the Commission is comprised of 22 members who represent various elements of the criminal justice system in Arizona. The Commission staff is comprised of up to 25 employees working in seven key program areas. Those program areas are Crime Victim Services, the Statistical Analysis Center, Criminal Justice Systems Improvement, Public Information, Information Technology, Finance, and Drug, Gang, and Violent Crime Control. 

Crime Victim Services Assistance Program

The Arizona Criminal Justice Commission (ACJC) pursuant to A.R.S. § 41-2407, has authorized the distribution of Crime Victim Assistance funds through a competitive grant process. The grant funds must be used to provide victim assistance services or services addressing victimization in Arizona in compliance with Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R10-4-201 through R10-4-204 and Commission guidelines. 

Matching funds of 20 percent of the total grant award are required. 

Special Funding Priorities

For the FY 2027 grant period, the Commission has approved awarding victim assistance funding in accordance with the following tier structure: Tier 1; Tier 2; and Tier 3

Tier 1

Fund crime victim service training projects, for a period beginning July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027. Projects must meet current ACJC victim assistance grant program eligibility requirements.

The Western SARE Graduate Student Research and Education Grant Program supports innovative research and educational outreach in sustainable agriculture. Funded by the USDA, it aims to enhance environmental quality, improve profitability for producers, and uplift rural communities. Projects must involve both research and education components, with proposals authored by graduate students collaborating with their advisors. By supporting demonstrations, educational activities, and practical applications, the program seeks to communicate effective sustainable practices to agricultural professionals, ultimately benefiting rural economies and ecosystems.

The Western SARE Farmer/Rancher Grants support agricultural producers in developing innovative, sustainable practices through research and outreach. Eligible applicants include farmers or ranchers who collaborate with technical advisors to implement projects focused on addressing specific agricultural needs. Grants can provide funding up to $25,000 for 1-2 producers and up to $29,900 for larger collaborations. The program aims to enhance profitability, environmental quality, and community well-being while sharing knowledge among producers.

The Western SARE Professional Development Program Grant supports education and outreach for agricultural professionals. Aimed at enhancing knowledge in sustainable agriculture, it provides funding for projects that train educators and farmers through workshops, conferences, and digital media. With a focus on the environmental, economic, and social aspects of agriculture, projects can last up to three years and receive up to $100,000 in funding. This initiative fosters a 'train the trainer' approach to improve agricultural practices.

Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records

Arizona Revised Statutes Title 41; Article 2.1 establishes the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, referred to as "the State Library", in the Office of the Secretary of State. The State Library was founded in 1915 to collect, preserve, and provide access to materials relating to law, political science, economics, sociology, subjects pertaining to the theory and practice of government, genealogy, and Arizona history. The format of materials may vary, but the majority of the collections contain unique and original materials or historic published texts, newspapers, and maps that can be found nowhere else.

Library Services & Technology Act (LSTA) Funding

Competitive project grants of federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) are offered in support of the State Library’s Five-Year Plan, as approved by IMLS, and to help fulfill the mission of the Library Development branch to “empower Arizona libraries to offer excellent customer service through consulting, grant funding, resources, and training.”

All grants for 2026 fall under two categories: a smaller Express Grants; and a larger General Grants

General Grants

These awards focus on impactful projects such as construction, large purchases, and programmatic initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and client services. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) registered and serve the Arizona community. Applications are encouraged for diverse projects, ensuring sustainability and community benefit.

The Sunstate Equipment Foundation Grants support local charities focused on disadvantaged individuals, medical aid, housing assistance, domestic violence awareness, military and veterans' assistance, and care for abused animals. Founded in 2015, the foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that matches employee contributions dollar for dollar, reinforcing its commitment to community support and engagement. Charities in good standing can apply once every 12 months, fostering impactful initiatives where Sunstate operates.

The Western SARE Local Education and Demonstration Grants aim to promote sustainable agriculture through practical demonstrations and educational activities. This program addresses barriers to adopting sustainable practices by integrating findings from previous research. Projects can last up to three years and receive funding of up to $60,000. Successful proposals involve local demonstrations, trainings, and technical assistance, engaging farmers, ranchers, and agricultural professionals in the process of sustainable agriculture adoption.

What does this program do?

It provides loans and grants to Microenterprise Development Organizations (MDOs) to:

• To help microenterprises startup and growth through a Rural Microloan Revolving Fund.
• Provide training and technical assistance to microloan borrowers and micro entrepreneurs.

 What kind of funding is available? 

Grants are available to provide technical assistance to rural micro-entrepreneurs or microenterprises, up to $205,000 annually. Funding at the requested level is not guaranteed, and at least 15 percent matching funds are required.

Loans of $50,000 to $500,000 may be used for establishing a Rural Microloan Revolving Fund managed by the Microenterprise Development Organization. Total aggregate debt is capped at $2.5 million.

Microenterprise Development Organizations must demonstrate experience in managing a Revolving Loan Fund, or:

• Certify that it or its employees have received education and training from a qualified microenterprise development training entity so that the applicant has the capacity to manage such a revolving loan fund.
• Demonstrate that it is actively and successfully participating as an intermediary lender in good standing under the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Microloan Program or other similar loan programs as determined by the Administrator.

What are the loan terms?

• Maximum term is 20 years.
• Two-year payment deferral.
• Must establish a loan loss reserve fund.

What terms are required on loans to ultimate recipients?

• Up to $50,000.
• Fixed interest rate.
• Limited to 75 percent of project cost.

How may the funds be used?

Microlenders may make microloans for qualified business activities and expenses including, but not limited to:

• Working capital.
• Debt refinancing.
• Purchasing equipment and supplies.
• Improving real estate.

Faculty seeking up to US $75,000 for sustainable agriculture research and education projects in Arizona and the wider Western U.S. can apply to partner with producers through this sabbatical grant. Grants from Western SARE help advance profitable, environmentally sound farm and ranch systems, which may benefit organizations connected to agricultural health and community well-being.

What kind of opportunities does this grant support?

This grant is open to artists of all disciplines and career stages. A variety of opportunities may be eligible as long as they have a significant impact in one or more of these areas:

An opportunity to showcase your work in a way that expands your audience or raises your artistic profile.

An opportunity to grow your artistic abilities by participating in conferences, residencies, workshops, fellowships, master classes, or apprenticeships.

An opportunity to strengthen your business skills, such as creating marketing materials, developing a website, covering professional fees (for lawyers, accountants, etc.), or investing in essential tools like equipment, materials, or rental fees.

The State Lake Improvement Fund (SLIF) in Arizona, established in 1960, provides funding for projects related to waters where motorized boats are allowed. Managed by the Arizona State Parks Board, the program has $5.2 million available for fiscal year 2024, with project funding ranging from $5,000 to $1,040,000. Eligible applicants include local governments and organizations focused on enhancing recreational water access through various improvements.

The Jack and Martha Carter Grant, offered by the Native Plant Society of New Mexico, supports projects that enhance public understanding of native plants and their conservation. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $5,000, aimed at educational, ecological, and botanical research initiatives. Both members and nonmembers are eligible, with a focus on practical, innovative proposals that align with the Society's mission. Applicants must report on their project outcomes, fostering accountability and continued support for environmental efforts.

With support from Toyota Motor North America, the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is pleased to announce $250,000 in grant funding to make public lands more accessible and enjoyable for people of all abilities. The 2026 grant program will focus on communities near Toyota Motor North America facilities and is restricted to 16 communities, as detailed below. 

Overview

Through the 2026 Driving Mobility and Accessibility on Public Lands grant, NEEF aims to:

• Increase the capacity of local organizations and government agencies to address mobility and accessibility considerations on public lands; and
• Improve the level of access, comfort, and enjoyment experienced by public lands visitors of all abilities, together with their families and friends.

The grant will provide up to $20,000 per grantee to increase physical or digital access, provide adaptive recreation equipment or programming, or perform accessibility assessments on public lands in communities near 16 Toyota Motor North America facilities.

The Education Forward Arizona Scholarship offers up to $6,000 annually for Arizona high school seniors pursuing a bachelor's degree. It supports students through mentoring and success services, ensuring they have the resources necessary for academic and career success. Eligible candidates must maintain a 3.0 GPA, be actively involved in college access programs, and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship aims to empower students to achieve their educational goals within a supportive community.

The Tree Campus Higher Education Program, initiated by the Arbor Day Foundation, encourages colleges and universities to enhance their green spaces and community forests. By participating, institutions can reduce energy consumption, combat climate change, and promote mental health among students and staff. The program offers recognition and resources for schools to foster environmental stewardship, making campuses healthier and more beautiful while instilling pride in their commitment to sustainability.

Education Forward Arizona, in partnership with Freeport-McMoRan, is launching a scholarship program aimed at providing education and training in critical technical fields. The initiative targets recent high school graduates and adult learners, starting recruitment for Fall 2025. Participants will gain skills for rewarding careers in mining, essential for the energy transition. Eligible candidates should be 18 or older, willing to enroll in community college programs, and participate in internships, ensuring a pathway to employment with Freeport-McMoRan.
